Originally contracted to have a chimney cleaned and inspected (on a rental property) using this local and family owned business. Booked the appointment about 5 days in advance. The morning of the appointment I was called by owner and was told that the girl making the appointments never forwarded the work order and therefore I was not in the schedule for the day.(This was a Tues) The owner apologized and she agreed to squeeze me in on Friday (3 days later). She arrived on time with her husband and it was obvious from the start that he was not happy to be there as they were arguing with each other almost from the beginning. Again she apologized , saying he doesn't normally help her on the chimney cleaning; that he does all the masonry and heavier work, but since one of their workers didn't show that day and because she had already screwed up one apt with me she had him come with her. This was quite awkward and very unprofessional but I agreed to let them continue because i did not want to go thru with tying up a third day with getting somebody else. The cleaning was satisfactory, but her visual inspection showed that there were cracked or separated clay tiles in the chimney itself, and that they would have to be replaced and the chimney exterior would have to be rebuilt.and she gave me an estimate for the work. I called another company (via Angies List) and they came out and did a extensive inspection using a camera and concluded that any tile breaches or cracks were so minor that it was not necessary to rebuild the chimney. I subsequently used this contractor to do the tuck pointing and minor repair to the top of the chimney.
