Wow did John deliver. The chair is fabulous now and the price was very reasonable. And you can sit on the seat again! The precision of the fabric's placement to showcase its design (I bought some lovely Voysey fabric) was stunning. The quality of the work was, as always unmatched. Rarely do you find someone who so consistently works at such a level of craftsmanship.

John did a wonderful job, the chairs look great! He really helped me with my fabric choice and yardage. He picked them up promptly and returned them before I expected! Would absolutely use his services again. His price was very reasonable.

It went very well. John is very articulate about his work. He did a better job that the original uphostering done on my chairs. He completed the work in a very timely fashion. I love the results! John is very reasonable in his pricing and I highly recommend him. He would be the first person I'd call for any future work of this nature.

John was great to work with! Unlike some others I called who wanted to charge me a $15.00 per yard fee just because I already had my fabric but didn't buy it from them! He gave me a timeline and stuck to it, and delivered them back beautifully done! He does very nice work at reasonable rates, and we highly recommend him. After my sister saw my chairs, she is having John recover her kitchen chairs. Thanks John for a job well done!

I would recommend John to anyone. The price was very reasonable and the work was expert. The rockers look beautiful, better than in the photo I took (not a good photographer). He advised about fabric, was prompt and responsive, very easy to work with. If you are having upholstery done, you won't do better. The cost even included reupholstering a small wrought-iron Victorian bench using some of the leftover fabric. It turned out perfectly.

John picked up two weary chairs and returned them to me looking incredible! Had I not been the one to give these chairs to him, I wouldn't have believed they were the same chairs. He turned 2 rather ugly old chairs into beautiful pieces that look great. He reinforced the legs and polished the wood detailing. What was once old and haggered is new and vibrant again. The pattern of the fabric and the new trim John created compliment each other perfectly. The padding he put into the chairs makes these seats I use every day. I'll be keeping these chairs for a very long time.

Previously I had John upholster a 92 inch couch and was very impressed with his sense of fabric to suit my lifestyle. He has a wonderful ability to help choose fabrics, colors and styles. Accommodating in every way, he tried to save money where he could, provided extra help to move furniture in and out and was so NICE. Pricing was accurate and he provided many extras like couch pillows- which I appreciated. Needless to say I had many friends who used John since I had my furniture done. Everyone wants to find a good upholsterer.

I bought a set of chrome kitchen chairs at a flea market. The vinyl was all torn up needed to be replaced. John of Imagine Studio was recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad he was. John did an amazing job on my chairs and was so helpful when it came to picking out fabric color and decisions on little details. He kept in touch with me throughout the whole process. Not only did he reupholster the chairs he also cleaned the chrome up. They had a quite a bit of rust on them from being left outside but John made them look like they were brand new! As a designer in Chicago I have worked with many upholsterers, and I must say that John of Imagine Studios takes great care in his craft and does the most beautiful work. He has a great eye for detail and takes a painstaking approach in how he addresses all projects, from small to large scale. I would highly recommend his services and plan on continuing to use them myself in the future. The first piece of furniture I had Imagine Studios work on for me was a vintage Henredon clawfoot love seat that I had procured from an estate sale. It was my first big purchase as a young designer, and as such it meant a lot to me, but it was in need of an update. This was a few years ago when Imagine Studios had just gotten started and I was eager to test out their abilities. I figured this was the perfect project. I had selected a geometric laser-cut silk velvet from Schumacher, and had a very specific welting pattern that I wanted achieved; no easy task for an upholsterer. They did not disappoint at all. The love seat turned out beautifully, and it continues to be my very favorite piece of furniture, which is really saying something. The other projects on which I have partnered with Imagine Studios have gone just as well. The attention to pattern, willingness to work with exacting specifications, ability to address repairs, level of communication, timelines, and overall the great value all make working with Imagine Studios a no-brainer for my upholstery needs. I highly recommend using their services. You won't be disappointed.

John is very organized and meticulous. He maintains a schedule, helps you select fabric and his workmanship is exceptional. He will pick up the pieces from your home or business and deliver them back to you. He is very easy to contact and always answers phone calls. Communication is never a problem. We have worked together for many years. Again, I recommend John as highly as possible.

We were extremely satisfied and plan to use this business again in the future. We have also recommended him to other friends. Our furniture was picked up and delivered. The work done was excellent and John Koteles is wonderful to work with. His prices are very reasonable. We have only praise for Imagine Studio!

John was very enjoyable to work with. He assisted me in each aspect of the project from picking out the material to fitting/adhering the finished cushions to the bench. His attention to detail in the measuring process resulted in beautiful, fitted cushions. I would definitely use his services again!

My wife and I had John from Imagine studio reupholster a 3 piece sectional for us. He did an amazing job! 1.5 years later the sectional is holding up perfectly. We chose a Chevron style fabric for the sectional and he did an awesome job lining up the fabric on every single section of the 3 piece section. You can definitely tell the attention he gives to the details. John was also great to communicate with. He was super friendly and responsive. He even sent update emails with photos as the job progressed. John had the best price and did a fantastic job. Highly recommended.

John was very responsive via texting and phone. He set up mutually agreeable times to pick up the chair and drop off the finished chair. He shared samples of his work before beginning and I hope he shares photos of my gorgeous chair with future customers. He is now reupholstering two couches, when I was struggling with fabric choices he offered to meet with me and help me choose fabric which was going above and beyond.

John brought lots of fabrics for us to choose and was very helpful in selecting a print and fabric that went with the period and our taste/style. The sofa bed is beautiful, his work to rebuild cushions and re enforcing frame was meticulous. The fabric is perfect. The chair was an old family piece and he found an ottoman to match. I was thrilled with the outcome.

My experience with John Katulis started with a request for him (Imagine Studio) to reupholster a small rocking chair our family had when I grew up. I inherited this chair after my mother died, and it desperately needed to be updated. I picked out some fabulous fabric at Jo-Ann's and had John do the work. His work was wonderful, and I fell in love with the fabric after seeing it on this relatively small chair. -- So, I had a regular chair that I had gotten from my now deceased aunt, and it was originally covered in green (yucky) vinyl, which was never going to work in my home. I decided to re-do it in the same fabric as the rocking chair, which presented quite a challenge since the fabric had a large geometric print and this chair had lots of places where the print had to be "matched." John did an amazing job with this and became so excited about it himself that he sent me several pictures by text as the project progressed. As they say, one thing leads to another...and I then realized that two office chairs at work were also worn-looking. The chairs had been expensive and fit in great except for the covering. John did those chairs also, and, again, they came out great! The rocking chair cost $250. The larger chair was $700 and the two office chairs were $225. John picked up the furniture from my house, did the work at his studio, and then brought them back. I supplied the fabric. I would not hesitate to recommend John. He's an artist at heart, so I wouldn't hesitate to let him make fabric choices. John has shown me pictures of his other work, which has included recovering leather couches. There are lots of reasons to reupholster furniture. I did the office chairs b/c they were fairly unique and had been expensive when purchased. I did the other chairs at my house b/c I was sentimental about them. In both cases, the result "mattered" to me, and John gave them the loving care that I wanted.

I could not have been more pleased with the end result. John is clearly an expert in turning worn out pieces into objects of beauty. He successfully stripped, sanded and stained my rocker back to like-new condition...in fact, BETTER-than-new! His upholstery work is also unparalleled. The rocker is now a show piece in my home. In addition to John's skills as a top-tier craftsman, he is wonderfully kind and displays a genuine care for the nostalgia and love embedded in the pieces he refinishes. He made it clear to me that he truly understood the sentimentality of the piece, and as a result produced an end product that brought tears to my eyes. He also stayed in communication with me throughout the process and hand delivered the rocker to my door?true professionalism at its best. John gets my highest rating!

The chair was an old family piece and needed a lot of work. John was very helpful with finding material and patterns to go with the period and our taste. He even found an ottoman that went with the style of the chair. He picked up and delivered each piece. The sofa bed was perfect and the cushions are better than the originals.

John completed all sections of my mom's sectional knowing that the piece meant alot to our family. He delivered the sectional to our home. Our kids loved the redo knowing their grandma's couch was now back in our home. The piece was a henredon sofa and was well built and very much worth covering. Our dining room chairs came out so beautiful and comfortable!! Any work John has done has been great!!

The work was meticulous, it was completed within the time promised and the price was good. We had lots of fabric to choose from and were very pleased with how great everything turned out. John was very helpful with textures and colors.
