The Davey Tree Expert Company

They came out and we walked through all the work. It took about 30-45 minutes, and we covered a lot (we have about 3/4 of trees and shrubs, both forested and landscaped). They promised an estimate on the work we discussed by the end of the week. It was never received. I followed up by calling the office twice--at 7 days and at 14 days--and both times they promised to get back to me. I never received the estimate. I contacted them here, on Angie's List. Again, they promised to get back to me. It never happened. Fine, if you don't want to do the work, don't do the work--I really don't mind that, especially in a busy market. Please don't string me along for weeks, though.

Contacted the Davey's over their web site contact form at the same time as the other 3 A-listed by Angie's. Davey's were the first to respond 2 days later and scheduled the free estimate. Chad came over right on time (maybe even 5 minutes earlier). Unfortunately he had just returned from his vacation and was out of the routine and did not have his laptop with him and could not give the estimate right away. However, he had followed up with an email in the afternoon. Unfortunately the quote was at $8300 - way over the other 2 companies. Overall the communication was good. Chad was very polite and upbeat. He apologized for forgetting his laptop. I am sure the company would have done a great job if I hired them, but the other 2 companies came in at $6000 and $5800 correspondingly, with the rest being equal, so I chose not to hire Davey's for the job.

It was completed on time and done well.

Outstanding! Professional! Did the work promised and more. We live on a very wooded lot in Dearborn and over the years have had to have a number of trees removed. We called several local companies to remove large trees from our backyard and number of those companies never returned calls. Davey Tree Company might have been a little more expensive than one of the other quotes but after watching them do the work "you get what you pay for" and we got AAA professional service. Totally worth it! The crew was very professional, treated our yard with respect, and cleaned up after themselves. I can't say enough good things.

They are phenomenal. They have been consistently fantastic. I think they called it "tree surgery". It was a little bit more expensive but the customer service was way better.

We have a huge locust tree out in front and it's too close to the house. My husband doesn't want to take it down. They had to climb up there and they had to get big limbs down that were hanging over our house and the neighbors garage. They had to be very careful with that and the landscaping all around. They did an excellent job trimming that. They came out when they said they were going to and they did an excellent job. It took them quite awhile to come out.

They were excellent. They called me because they had a cancellation. I was very appreciative. They prompt and they cleaned up perfectly. They did a great job. They offered no discount. They could not give me an exact date but they did call me when they had a cancellation.

Did not get the work done. the sales rep was very professional and honest not enough work to send crew out. He did suggest another idea.

The Davey Arborist was very knowledgeable and reccommended only necessary service for the trees. They were on time and did an excellent job. After a recent storm the Arborist just stopped by to see how the trees faired. Excellent follow up and concern.

We used them for a lawn service and consulted with them on care of trees. They do fertilization of trees for me, but we've never had them for tree trimming. Deep root fertilization, in spring for scale and things like that. I've been very pleased with their service. They'll start again here in April. We're signed up with them again this year, the full program. The lawn service is broken down by services: if they put grub control, if they put weed killer. So, it's all itemized. Same with the trees: if they're spraying for scale...We had a lot of dry periods last year. We do have an in-ground sprinkler system, but the fellows who applied the fertilizer, and it was a dry fertilizer at the time, caused some burned areas in the yard, which I was unhappy about. I understand how it happened. So that was the main problem. It was just one episode, but it takes a while for that to correct itself and get the lawn back in shape in spots. The interaction was good. We have a fellow we deal with there and I usually ask for him directly. Their responsive. Whenever I have any issues, for example, one time when I had a deep root fertilization, they punctured my sprinkler system feed, and so we had to have that corrected. They've been careful since then, whenever they come out. They're good to deal with. They we didn't ask for them to pay for anything, but they did give us an extra fertilization service for free. They didn't charge us. They have been responsive.

For what they did including grinding the stump, which took place 16 days after the tree was removed, they charged $560. They're very knowledgeable and professional.

Davey's service was fine. The trees were fine. Whatever they've done, it helped. I really used them one time for that. Seems like it was somewhere between $200-$300, I don't recall exactly. Seemed like a lot for doing that. It was the neighbor's trees so we wanted to protect them as best we could because we had done some landscaping and it affected their trees. The trees are healthy and they are doing fine. I don't have any reason to give it anything other than an A because everything worked out fine. It was pretty quick. They did what they said they were going to do and the time they said they were going to do it so everything was done well. For that specific need, it seemed necessary, would I use them again? Possibly. I don't have anything real specific to say; they did what they were supposed to do. They should stop sending me so much follow up mail.

Work was done to my satisfaction. This was my first tree trimming. They appeared very professional and amazing to watch.

They were very expensive, but they did the work. Very overpriced. They also wanted my credit card to pay them right away, which I have an problem with.

When having trim work done on your trees, check exactly what they're writing down. Make sure they write everything down.

I don't know how they were on price, because I didn't compare them to anyone else. I had them come back again. He was supposed send someone back and he didn't. They were supposed to contact me in the spring about an application to my apple trees. They didn't contact me, and I didn't have the problem before. They still send me stuff in the mail. They responded, but didn't follow thru. They sent a guy out, he did the work, but he just didn't follow thru. He didn't cut them right. I need some things done, but I'm reluctant too. At this point, my trees are low priority.

They had to come back because, they didn't do a clean cut. I decided not to have them back. I didn't have this problem before.

It went fine. I think they do good work, but I thought it was kind of expensive. They came out whenever they wanted, not an appointment. It solved my problem.

The estimate they gave me was very good. The knowledge they gave me on which trees to trim was very good. I've recommended them to several friends.
