I don't feel that I got what we were told we were going to get. The work was done not in a timely manner and weren't very friendly.

A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW!!!! We selected Better Builders because they had a better warranty than our other final vendor. We did not know that it would take going on three months of phone calls and still not have the warranty honored. From the moment they arrived for the installation, trouble ensued. Day 1 (August 2010) - Crew arrives and installs posts. My wife requests they install the fence six inches outside the visible sprinkler system. Crew does their own measurement that looks way out of whack and definitely not what was requested. I had two neighbors threatening to sue and got put in the position where my only choice was to spend $400 extra to get a property survey done. Day 3 - Owner comes out and re-measures. Confidently assures us posts are in the correct place. This was soon proven very clearly false. Day 5 - Survey done ($400). Posts are nearly two feet off in some locations. Day 8 - Get owner to agree to properly place posts. Day 15 - Crew back out to move posts. Day twenty something - Fence finally 'complete.' I notice that I can lift the bottom of the fence two feet and request the fence be installed appropriately so people cannot easily crawl under. I note that both gates are installed improperly (one gouges the post causing scratches and eventual rust, the other is screwed in loosely and the latch pops the cap of the top of the fence when lifted). Day thirty something - Some line is strung along the the bottom of some parts of the fence in a feeble repair attempt. It can only be lifted one foot at this point. Notice 4 inch screws used on much of the fence are sticking out 3 inches and could gouge young children. We let the shoddiness go for several cold weather months knowing we had a 'five year warranty' Early June 2011 - latch on one gate has scratched the opposite post so much that it is beginning to rust. Gate difficult to open and because latch is poorly installed and rubs against gate. Latch on other side pops off an improperly installed cap and is screwed in cheaply and loosely and is rusting at the site. We call for service on these items. Willing to let the other shoddiness go to have this horrible experience over. Mid July 2011 - team shows up to fix one latch. They end up moving the post and trimming the fence. The tell me what they did and are ready to leave. I ask them about the other gate and they say it is not in their work request. I show them the other gate and one guy gets furious asking who did the original job. The other guy starts pointing out numerous flaws in how the fence was so poorly installed. They note several flaws and look at those I point out and agrees it is a shoddy job and they will have to come back. He cannot believe they used all the 4 inch screws when I have young children. They tell me they had a couple bad eggs last year who misrepresented their experience and they have been cleaning up after them all summer. An explanation, but not an excuse. If this was known, why were customers not contacted proactively so their fences could be inspected. Late July - Call to see why they have not come out to fix fence. Told I am at the top of the board. Early August - Call again, still at the top of the board. Get the story of the bad eggs again. Mid August - call again, still at the top of the board. Told it is four hours to fix. The original install was only about 12 hours. September 2 - a year later. Call again, still at the top of the board. Told it would be a week to a week and a half. I do not think I have enough words to express my disappointment with this company. I would strongly discourage anyone from even considering the shoddy work and horrendous service of this company. I know Angie's list likes adjectives to describe the experience, so I want to offer some for my experience with Better Builders Fence and my thoughts on their service and business practices as I experienced them: Abominable Dreadful Execrable Awful Atrocious Disgraceful Shameful Disreputable Inferior Pathetic Worthless Again, I would discourage anyone from using this company. It is been a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE from start to finish
