The house is a 2-story colonial with dormer windows and attached garage. The old paint was scraped off and the chips "vacuumed" up for proper disposal. In addition to painting all the exterior wood, they repaired some of the decorative trim above the windows before painting; matched the color of the shutters and repainted them, and did the same with the front door. Peter and his crew arrived when they said they would, worked diligently all day, and always cleaned up where they had been. They were professional in every way and we could not be more pleased. I have given his name to my neighbors and will absolutely call them again for any other painting project. PD Painting is a real gem and deserve the highest accolades.

This painter's name will definitely go in my files for future work!! He was available and willing to do the work on a weekend for a job that needed to be done as soon as possible. He showed up right on time with an assistant to help him finish quickly. He did excellent work painting a whole room (walls and trim) in one day, then came back the following week to paint and install trim. Both jobs were done very professionally and in a timely manner.

The owner of the company was very quick to come out and give me an estimate, and once I gave them a deposit they started within 1-week. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. They painted over a lot of struff that should have been patched. I just had my hardwood floors refinished in my kitchen and entry foyer, and they got spatter all around the edges. They tried to clean it up, but were not very successful. The painting around the windows and some of the lines where they cut in could have been better. I had them come out 3-4 times after the job was completed to work on things they had missed. I did get this painter from Angies list and called 5 references and they all checked out. I got an estimate from a painter that I used before that was really good, but they were $800.00 more. In hindsight, I wish I had spent the extra money. To summarize my experience with this company, I would say that their attention to detail was not up to par...

Member Comments: The painters did a good job of removing the hard-to-remove, old wallpaper and painting the walls. They repaired all imperfections on the surfaces that were found before and after the final coats of painting. Owner himself came to do the estimate and explain what had to be done. He was very accommodating of our schedule and did not overcharge us for the wallpaper removal which turned out to take more time than was estimated. The job took longer and owner managed to get it done within time frame agreed upon. I would recommend this company to anyone. All the members of the team were courteous and punctual. Very professional. I chose this company over the others because they were local and had the lowest bid.

P D Painting is essentially a one-man company. Pjeter speaks with a heavy European accent that is not always easy to understand. Though his e-mail was given as a means of communicating with him, he never seemed to get e-mails we sent until we spoke to him on the phone, resent the e-mail, and he went right away to retrieve it. I don't know if Angie's List requires an e-mail address of vendors, but perhaps the difficulty of communicating via e-mail would have been prevented if there had been a note as to Pjeter's preference to be phoned. Once a date was set, Pjeter kept it. He even protected the time when another customer requested that he complete some work that day. He did not visit the site prior to the work date. He bought the paint after we had chosen colors and told him what to buy. He arrived on Monday, 12/10/12 with another painter, introduced to us. Pjeter got the job started and left Joseph to work on his own, stopping in during the day and going out for more paint at one point. When they got started, they covered the floor completely and taped nearly everything. Problems arose when, before completing the work, the plastic floor-covering and the tape was removed. Quite a bit of touching up was done after the removal of these protective coverings. Therefore, there were blotches of paint on our newly refinished hardwood floors, and messy edges in various places. The other problem was that neither Joseph nor Pjeter requested artificial lighting when the sun sank low enough in the sky that the room became dim. They refused our offer of some lamps to help them see at a point when we couldn't even see what needed touching up. When the sun rose the next morning, there were a lot of places that were unpainted or poorly painted, messy edges, marks on the finish of the floor from where they had pushed paint cans along the floor with their feet as they were finishing up, an area of one wall that should have been repaired before painting but was not, and adhesive residue on the hearthstone (concrete) that should have been sanded down before painting. We called Pjeter and expressed our dismay at the amount of touching up there was to do--an amount we were not willing to do ourselves. He agreed to come back that Friday (12/14) to finish the work. He arrived on time, seeming a little peeved that he was being asked to do things that hadn't been done correctly in the first place. He argued that some of them couldn't be done the way I wanted them. He also shared with me that he there had been other complaints about this assistant's work, and said if there was another complaint, he would dismiss him. However, Pjeter wanted to please us, and soon got over his annoyance. He went out to buy some sandpaper to work on the hearthstone, and got to work. He was by himself this time. He stayed for a couple of hours, adding a third coat to the brick on the fireplace, which better matched the way the color looked on the walls. The whole room looked significantly better. He improved some of the edges with which we were unhappy. However, although he brought into the room from his truck a well-splattered mat, it sat in one place the entire time, and he again left splotches of paint on our newly refinished hardwood floor. In the end, because on 12/14 he did some spackling and caulking, he had to return to our home one more time on 12/15 to finish touching up the paint. Overall, he seemed willing to complete the work to our specs and said that he comes back whenever a customer calls to let him know about a problem, even several months later. On the other hand, he was not as perfectionist as I would have liked him to be. I also think that it would have been useful for him to have visited the house to see the room and agree on expectations. It might have saved him the two return trips to make one trip for a 1/2 hour, pre-work visit. Overall, we are happy with the results. We would have been happier if the larger project had not been delayed by sloppy work on the scheduled day of the paint job. In the end, because on 12/14 he did some spackling and caulking, he had to return to our home one more time on 12/15 to finish touching up the paint. We liked him, in spite of the difficulties of getting the job done. We have found that most service providers who come to our home need supervision and end up returning at least once to complete work. Those who do a nearly perfect job the first time are few and far between.

Peter was very nice, called ahead to verify appoints, etc. He is a very hard worker, not like many contractors that I have dealt with in the past. He knew that I was disabled,so he made sure that I didnt have any worries! I will see him again in the spring for my remaining work

P D Painting finished on time, very hard worker, his crew was very professional, cleaned up after their work.I would definitely hire this company again and would trust them to do bigger projects.
