Work progressed as scheduled. Thought pricing was slightly high, but they got the job being a local firm. There have been a couple of follow up service calls to fine tune the system and a noise problem related to the water filter. Unlike so many other contractors they actually listened to our concerns and the stated symptoms. They worked diligently to find the problem. Using the information they quickly came up with one solution and returned a second time to try another option when the first option did not completely satisfy our problem. The second option worked great. We felt Seymour was very responsive. It was so satisfying to work with a contractor for whom "good enough" was not the standard, but worked in a partnership with the customer to get the job done well and complete.

They are pleasant, efficient and professional! In the past, we have had them come right out to the house and load the salt in the machine, but this time we went to them. It was so easy!
Description of Work: We pulled up to their open garage door, we purchased the salt right from our window and they loaded it in the truck. We didn't even have to leave the truck!

It was a good experience, they showed up when they said they would. They came once to do an estimate and then again to do the installation. When they came for an estimate they were nice, knowledgable, and were not at all pushy, like some others. They people who came to do an estimate were the same that did the installation, no sales people to deal with. When they did the installation, they did the job well. They ran into some problems installing but were very upfront about it and informed me what the problem was, why they had to do it another way and how much it would cost and they told me before they did it. Would definitely recommend them to others.

Well what I dislike is that they tried too hard to sell me a water softener, and they took a water sample and I never heard back about my water sample. Just very pushy about trying to sell you the pump. And the guy, the last time that I did approach him, it was snowing out, and he stomped through my house with the snow on his shoes. Even though they are supplied booties. It was 160.00 to put in the system, and 20.00 a month after. It includes changing the filters.

They presented and explained quote. I had them install the house water softener. I elected not to do the individual water filtration under the kitchen sink because of cost vs. my budget. It is an option I can utilize down the road if I prefer. Very happy with service and employees. No mess and no fuss. Thank you,

Fantastic, they do the job.
Description of Work: Maynard's installed a purchased Water softener with Iron filter. some of the piping had to be replaced and shutoffs had to be added. They also delivered 350 pounds of salt and hauled it down to the basement. This was the third property in 6 years where I have had them come and install a water softening system, They do a great job and the water is great. I especially LOVE that they deliver high quality salt to my basements and check out the systems and make sure everything is working properly. In my personal residence they made sure that I still had hard water available for drinking as I had requested.

The explanation was that it was not installed correctly originally and that the annual service inspections had worn out the connections by over tightening. I complained that they were just fixing a problem that their company created and wrote a letter to the company owners but never got a reply.
Description of Work: We had a small drip leak from the pipes by the water softener. Maynards had done the regular, annual maintenance on the softener and the initial installation for the previous owner. They ended up having to send out service guys on two trips and replacing a section of pipe and connectors.

They're really good. They keep on record how much I use, and they make sure I get enough of the supplies that I need, but not too much; they're very price-conscious. They'll tell me what deals are going on as well. Overall, I'm happy with their services.

Contacted this company on 7/12/10 due to Angies list great rating. Purchased an older home that had been foreclosed on and had not been maintained. I told them we had never had well water but, that we had a softener system (they actually had info from previous homeowners from many years ago) that was in need of repair, we didn't think it was working, that we had really low water pressure and that we had mold in a tank and in some lines that could be seen due to the clear line. I wanted them to do whatever necessary to get everything working properly and I didn't know anything about having well water. Lady assured me on phone that they were the right company to call and scheduled an appointment. They came out on 7/19/10 and after a short period of time guy said brine tank needed to be replaced (full of mold and water), RO lines had to be replaced to the fridge and the faucet and that we had to have entire homes water lines cleaned due to high amounts of bacteria and that some parts were needed for the actual water softener (though I had told this to the person when calling and she even had it in the notes on the sales receipt we received). I inquired about the reverse osmosis water system and he said that was in great condition and that the filters wouldn't need to be changed for a year and tested great. Told me verbally that it would probably be $300 to $350 and said he would have to come back (why come back - you were scheduled to come here to fix everything on this date) - He did no work other than inspections - no salt given or anything. We had to make another appointment for the repairs. Came back on 7/22/10 (though company phoned earlier in the day to say that they wouldn't be able to make it out due to a company client that needed work and they wanted to reschedule - but, I insisted they show up due to needing water and the water had bacteria per their employee). They said that they would be there as scheduled (showed up 15 minutes late within the two hour time frame they gave me). They replaced the brine tank, delivered 500lbs salt, replaced a float, 30ft of RO line, rebuilt some of the water softener controls and replaced a filter. The total was $440 which was way higher than the "verbal" quote of "around $300 to $350". Oh, and the guy forgot to charge for the salt. After processing the card he said he would just consider it a gift due to the higher bill than verbally quoted and that he also said he had cut the labor to "help me out". We moved into the house on 8/20/10. We noticed that our ice maker was not working. We replaced our fridge with a brand new one on 9/10/10. Still no ice. Contacted them again on 9/16 due to the extensive work that was done and we didn't understand why the entire system was not up to par. They came out 9/20/10. New guy this time, said last guy was fired (because he wasn't doing his job right and not inspecting everything like he was suppose to). He looked at the reverse osmosis system and the filters were absolutely disgusting and all four had to be replaced - though other guy said they were great and good for another year! That would be another $91.24 though he too cut some of the labor costs to "help us out". My husband was mad and contacted them that same night. They decided to not charge the $91.24 and the manager said he wanted us completely satisfied so he would send out another person to have ENTIRE system checked. Well, little did we know that when they came out on 9/20/10 they kindly removed the hose out of the downstairs bar sink (so they could clean the chambers on the RO system) for our dehumidifier thus causing water to leak all over the counters, into the cupboards of the built in bar, onto the brand new tile and grout (that had not been sealed yet so now it's stained), onto the new carpet and all over the items stored in the bar until thankfully we lost power the very next nigh for the next day for 4 days. The area was FULL OF WATER and STUNK something AWFUL! I just thank goodness we lost power when we did because we do not go downstairs much - I can only imagine how much more damage there could have been if we didn't discover it for days instead of within 24 hours (and the loss of power). My husband was so mad but, didn't want to say anything because he was afraid that the work wouldn't be done and everything wouldn't be fixed when they were due to return (and he didn't say this to the manager when he called because we didn't know this was happening at the time). They returned last week of September for the recheck of the complete system like the manager said they would do, informed their repair man (different one - so third different repair person) when he showed up that we still weren't getting ice (didn't know we still weren't getting ice because we went without power for 4 days) and in 5 minutes the guy said we needed a pump on the RO system to deliver the pressure needed for the fridge and he thought it would be around $100 but, they would call to give us an "exact price". He didn't recheck the entire system like the manager had said that they would and he said that's it and left. We asked him about checking out the system and making sure everything was working and he said - yep it is. All that in the 5 minutes you are here? They did call two days later to say that the pump we needed would be $187 installed. Amazing - it was going to cost almost double what the guy verbally told us. We did NOT have them back. And then just before Christmas (getting the tree out) we noticed a really bad odor by our furnace/water softener area. Come to find out that the line coming out of the RO (reverse osmosis) system that discharges some water, they decided to put on top of where our lift station was (that is completely sealed) to allow water to collect there and rust out the lid of the station instead of putting it in the drain where the furnace drains. We did not bother to contact them back in regards to the water issue/damage because we don't want anything to do with this company. I felt like every time I turned around they wanted more and more money instead of doing what they should have done in the first place. We hired them to get our system completely working and fix everything. 4 visits later and we still do not have ice for our fridge because of the lack of water pressure. I would not recommend this company and do not understand how or why they have such a good rating.
Description of Work: They were suppose to check entire water softener system, test water, check reverse osmosis system, holding tank, brine tank, float, replace ro lines, bring 500lbs of salt, replace filter, clean water lines in entire house and replace/rebuild some mechanical issues with the softener system and find out why we didn't have water pressure

Response from Maynard's Water Conditioning LLC
Member, I am sorry that you had a bad experience with our company and I would like to personally take this opportunity to reply to your comment. Our 1st service technician that we sent to your home identified several areas that needed to be worked on or replaced/repaired. Even though you told the receptionist that you wanted "everything" fixed our technician was letting you know what he saw and what he would recommend fixing in your home. His verbal quote should have been more accurate based on what he found. For this I am sorry. The reason he did not perform any work on the first appointment and needed to reschedule with you was because he found so much work to be done in your foreclosed home that he did not have ample time to fix everything. He did not want to reschedule the other 4-5 customers he had appointments for that day and this is something that we talk about in our weekly meetings. Again I apologize for this inconvenience. Sometimes a service call with its slotted time can be too overwhelming especially when we do not know what to expect such as in a foreclosed home. We rescheduled with you for another date. On the day we were to come back we had an emergency "leaker" call. It is typical in that situation to call scheduled customers and see if we can "bump" them to take care of the emergency. This is quiet typical for any service company to get to the "leakers" to prevent more damage. The reason we were late to our appointment with you was because a customer had a unit (not Maynard's) leak and we needed to get there first and then to our regular scheduled appointments(yours). Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience we caused. Our 1st technician did not check the filters on the reverse osmosis unit as he should have. We have since let this person go because he did not perform the quality of work that so many customers of Maynard's have come to expect. In his defense, he did discount his labor rate because he verbally quoted you too low and estimate, provided you with free salt for your inconvenience and we gave you a free filter change for your RO unit again for the mishap. Our second technician was sent because we let the first one go. He was sent to check on the icemaker issue. We had a breakdown in communication on our end and he should have inspected the work of our 1st technician (now gone!). For this I take complete responsibility. The hose that was removed out of the downstairs bar sink and the discharge of the RO on the sealed lift station were regrettable. One a complete accident and the other a short cut which MAYNARD'S WATER do not tolerate. Now for the issue of the icemaker. Our 2nd technician who I sent out to check on the icemaker and the RO unit was not aware of the new frig. needing a buster pump to make the ice. Our AQPC-35 RO unit works well without a pump but not to this new frig. This is why we recommended the pump. Our 3rd technician was aware of this. Again, the 2nd technician should have called back to the office to get a price instead of verbally giving the $100 price which was a guess. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience we have caused your family. Maynard's Water Conditioning has always stood behind our products and treated customers respectfully for over 38 years. We dropped the ball in several areas of communication and service. We terminated one employee because of quality and have looked into ways to prevent mistakes in the future. We hope that you would give us another chance to prove what the other 160 unverified and verified reports say: Maynard's Water Conditioning is the best in West Michigan for customer service. Sincerely, Paul Owens, Operations Manager

Myself and my family are extremly satisfied with the service that Chuck gave us but Maynard's in general. It was also nice being able to do business with a family owned company.
Description of Work: I was having issues with lime buildup in my bathroom and dishwasher. I called Maynard's and Chuck came to my home, tested my water and found that I was getting staining from high levels of calcium in my water. He made a recommendation of a SC water softener that was metered so it only regenerates when it needs too. We had it installed and now it seems all of the problems we were having are gone. I couldn't be happier with the service I recieve from the initial call to the end result.
