Description of Work: Bought the lawn care aeration service, and was promptly contacted. They came out on an evening that wasn't really scheduled, but that's no big deal. The tech showed up, did the treatment and left in about 30 minutes as promised.

Description of Work: Except for a part of steep hill that the machine couldn't traverse, the aeration was very thorough. They've aerated my lawn for 2 or 3 years now, and I can see the improvement.

Core Aeration is one of the best things you can do to your lawn. Unfortunately the machines are very heavy and too dangerous to put on steep hills.

Description of Work: They provided lawn fertilization for the remainder of summer and fall. They did a great job, and when I had questions about things I was seeing in my yard, they explained everything to me. They also send out emails that tell you how and when to change your irrigation system settings and when it's a good time to plant and/or prune.

Description of Work: I used the lawn aeration service. They were very accommodating to getting it done even though it was very late in the season. |I had to mark my irrigation beforehand but that was easy enough. No issues. I would use them again.

Description of Work: The work they did was good with notifications and applications of fertilizer, but I feel the Angies list deal of $169 was misleading when I had to pay an additional $70.40, after signing up to get it, bringing it to not such a special deal, because my lot was bigger than the deal accounted for. I have a typical ~1/2 acre suburban lot.

Lawn fertilizing is not a flat rate price. We have to set a price for a minimum square footage. The first sentence in the big deal addresses that this is for lawns up to 5,000 square feet. We measure all of our lawns with aerial photography and email the picture of the lawn we measured to verify we measured the correct area. We also communicate the extra charge for larger lawns prior to starting service so that the customer can cancel the deal if their lawn is too big and the extra charge is too much.

Description of Work: Service provided was core aeration of lawn. The service was purchased as a deal through Angie's List. Tuff Turf called the next day to schedule a date to come out. Between the date I scheduled and the day the service was performed, I received multiple emails confirming the approaching service date and reminding me to mark sprinkler heads and other obstructions. |Coincidentally, I was home the morning the work was done. The person doing the work noticed I was home and stopped to introduce himself and confirm first hand with me whether there were any obstructions or special instructions he should be concerned about. He was very pleasant. I was inside the house but visible at a window when he stopped to talk to me. In my opinion it would have been well within reason for him to simply do his job and move on. I appreciated his awareness and extra effort to talk to me before starting.

The reason we are able to provide our service at such a great price is because our routes are very tight. We mention that all of our services, including core aeration, is performed on a routed basis. We tell all our clients that we notify by phone and email in advance so that everybody on the route knows when to expect us. There is no aeration equipment that can handle steep hills. Aeration equipment is very heavy and unstable. It is true that we do no own any walk behind equipment. Our riding equipment handles hills much better than walk behind equipment because it has a wide wheel base and lower center of gravity. Walk behind equipment weighs a couple of hundred pounds and all of that weight is on the tines that are in the ground at any given time. This makes walk behind aerators lean and tip very easy and not safe on hills. We ask clients during our first conversation if they have small gates or steep hills that would restrict our equipment. We understand that "steep" is purely subjective to opinion. We are always going to err on the side of caution and not jeopardize the safety of our technicians and the homeowner's property.
