Johnny's Hardware

I've been using Johnny's Hardware for years. When presented with a choice of visiting a Lowe's or a Home Depot my first thought is how to avoid it: I hate going to big box stores because the employees are generally hard to find, busy, and not well-informed. Johnny's is different. You can go in to buy a pound of 8D nails and they won't point you to a box on the shelf. Instead they take you to a big bin and weigh our one pound of nails. Need to fix that leaking hose in your dishwasher? They can tell you how. They can show you. They can suggest a better way to do it. Don't know how to use a compression valve? They can explain it. I once went in and told them that I needed a new gas line for my dryer because I couldn't get the old hose to fit my new machine. They explained how to get the old hose working and didn't sell me anything. The floors are made out of wood and concrete, The place is not sparkling clean, but the owner and the cat are friendly. When you leave you will be glad you gave them your business instead of a corporate big box store. Oh, and you'll probably leave better educated and with your wallet intact.

They came out to the house within an hour after I called, to make sure that the problem was not caused by something outside the well (like a bad switch, pressure tank, leaking line, broken wires, etc.). Once that was completed, they pulled the pump from the well and checked the wiring and the line to make sure there was nothing that needed to be repaired. Only after they were sure nothing else was wrong, did they suggest that the pump needed to be replaced. They replaced it and the water was running after about 4 hours. They even charged the pressure tank for me. If I had any questions, they answered them thoroughly and courteously. Finally, they gave me an estimate and stuck to it so there were no surprises. These guys know what they are doing, are friendly, professional, and courteous. I highly recommend them for water well service.
