The workers arrived when they said they would and cleaned up thoroughly when finished. Everyone in the company was a pleasure to work with.

All had a manufacturers warranty and installation warranty. The installers answered any questions I had and did a great cleanup when they were done. Very satisfied with this company.

Description of Work: I called Story Roofing around May of 2011 and Ted Allen came out. I had a small leak around a light in my "laundry" area, and one in the corner of the roof and wall and a leak on the ceiling in front of the fireplace. I told Ted that I wanted to be there when he fixed the leaks so he should call me. Ted didn't call and "fixed" the leaks. This was a while ago so I will write the time line as I remember it. While I wasn't happy that he didn't call me so I could meet him up there when he did the work I thought it was probably ok and so I paid him. When I came up the following spring I found that there were still the leaks around the light and in the ceiling and wall in a corner in my living room. The fireplace leak was fixed but now I had a larger worse leak in my ceiling. Ted came out and would not fix the leaks I had paid him to fix and he denied that what he had done had caused the third leak. He sent me a quote to fix the leaks for $1,200.00. I declined to rehire him. I fixed the leak in the living room corner myself with a caulk gun and some roof tar in a tube and I hired another roofer to come out and fix the other leaks for $500.00 Their guys said that in their opinion the diverter Ted put in was directing rain water down into my roof vent, which is what I had thought. The light leak was caused by the original roofer cutting a hole that was too long for the roof vent and not covering it properly to prevent rain from coming in. I would never ever use Story Roofing again nor would I recommend them to anyone because of Ted Allen.

Description of Work: I had a cold roof installed on a vacation rental cottage to help keep the upstairs warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and decrease winter ice dams. The crew (4-5 guys) showed up on the date scheduled. The latest they started was about 8:15 a.m. on the first day; after that the first worker was there by 7:30. This was a 5-day project, and the crew worked full days, rain or shine, and there were two days of rain. There was one smoker in the crew, but he left no butts behind. When the crew was done, they spread out and policed the whole area, picking up any debris that had fallen on the ground. My wife and I were extremely impressed by their professionalism. I should add that we had one other bid on the project, which came in about $7000 higher. The $15,000 Story Roofing bid was about what I thought the cost would be when I started this process. With the cold roof, we noticed an immediate improvement in the temperature upstairs, much cozier. In addition, snow on the roof does not melt as it used to, and there are many fewer icicles. I would not hesitate to hire Story Roofing again. |

 + -1 moreA leak developed in the garage roof 18 months after the new roof was installed. Story Roofing was contacted and a crew was sent out and made a repair. The roof leaked at a greater rate in the same area after the repair was made. Story Roofing was contacted again and a crew was sent out and made a repair that seems to have corrected the leak. Our concern is the overall quality of the new roof materials and installation and the ability of Story Roofing to make satisfactory roof repairs.
Description of Work: Existing asphalt roof shingles removed and new asphalt shingles installed July, 2014 on a 1200 square foot ranch house with 600 square foot attached garage.

Description of Work: We hired them to come out and give a estimate on a house was about to buy. They know that the house buy was depending on there quote and we where to we will give you. Quote in the next 3 days. 3 day passed and no quote we called them asking about the quote for about a week - nothing. We ended up not buying the house because of this. A few weeks later we got and invoice for 75$ for the quote that we never got. We contacted them and told them we will not pay this sense we never got a quote. Two weeks later we got a quote.... Abit late..

 + -1 moreOverall, very good company. One minor drawback was the response time to emails prior to the project starting. After the project started, communication was excellent. We have two skylights on the roof. One did get broken during the job but Chad called us immediately, let us know what happened and replaced the broken sky light. We did end up replacing the other sky light so that they matched in appearance and energy efficiency. We had left town for the weekend prior to the project being completed. Upon our return, there was a broken window in the back of the house. Neither Story nor my husband or I could for sure say what happened to the window but Story did offer to pay for half of the repair bill. The roof looks fantastic! Would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Completely re did our roof including having Alpers blow in insulation.

Chris answered all my questions prefessionally and honestly. He explained that since I was located over 2 hours away, it would be diffuclt for Story Roofing to be price competitive. That didn't detract him from being patient and courteous to me. I really appreciate Chris' honesty and willingness to prvide me with so much informaion regarding roofing and things to consider. I'm thoroughly impressed with the service I received!!!

 + -1 moreOVERALL, MOST EVERYTHING WENT VERY WELL. THE WORKERS WERE VERY NICE. QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER. IT TOOK LONGER THAN I WAS TOLD, BUT THE RAIN DIDN'T HELP. ONE OF THE EXTRAS I ASKED FOR WAS A SMALL SKY-LIGHT. WHAT WAS RECOMMENDED WAS A VELUX SUN TUNNEL. IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT WHERE IT WAS BEING INSTALLED WAS A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 14 INCHES BETWEEN THE ROOF JOISTS. THEY HAD REAL TROUBLE INSTALLING THE SUN TUNNEL BECAUSE OF THE SHORT DISTANCE. I HAD TO LEAVE BEFORE THEY FINISHED. I THOUGHT MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE INSTALLED A SIMPLE SKYLIGHT. STILL, I WAS VERY PLEASE WITH THE OUTCOME.
Description of Work: REMOVED THE OLD ROOF, MADE NECESSARY REPAIRS AND INSTALLED NEW ROOF AND SMALL SKYLIGHT.

They are very busy and told us up fromt when they would be able to do the job. they were within 1 week. stayed on the job for three days, I had the roof taken off and reinsulated to the max. they picked up all old nails and removed all of the old roof. Chad and crew answed the questions I had and they did a great job on the new roof . Would use them again.

 + -1 moreThe entire encounter with Story Roofing was very positive. I feel they are a very high quality company and very proud of what they do. They offered twice the workmanship warranty than any of the other five companies I talked to. However, the company I chose offered the same roofing system warranty. The proposal package was the most detailed and the company tries very hard to educate you so that you know as much about the roof as they do. Story roofing was very responsive, but never pressured. I felt comfortable talking and asking questions. I received only professional and courteous responses and never got the impression they were just trying to make a sale.
Description of Work: Provided very detailed estimate for roof replacement and separate estimate for repairing only trouble spots. I was met at my home on two occasions; one for the estimate and one to present the proposal. Each visit was by the Company VP.

 + -1 moreStory Roofing estimated about 2 months until the start of the project, and were here in about the 2 months time. They arrived early each day, worked hard, and cleaned up at the end of each day. When I talked to them, they were courteous and helpful. I had a somewhat longer reroofing product since a day had to be set aside for an insulation company to come and insulate some of the roofing area and attic. Story Roofing worked with the insulation company and got the whole job done in approx. 6 days total (not counting weekends). Overall a very pleasant (as much as a reroofing product can be pleasant!) experience!
Description of Work: Complete tear off, repair, and reroofing of my house. Higher grade Asphalt shingles with an extended warranty.

I was given three options of prices and materials. I gave them a call and they came out and did it. The guys were great. Their clean up and their care around the yard was great. I am totally satisfied with their work. I was really satisfied with everything they did. I would refer them to others.

 + -1 moreI was happy with them. He was the first person to fix it and it was worth every dime. I called some of the people to come out and look at it, and give me an estimate, and that's how I got him. I chose him after trying a couple of other people to fix it, and they couldn't fix it and their price was also too high. But he did flat roofs which not all companies do, and his price was also reasonable. He used the flat roof application, so he put on the flat roof base and then he put the rubber roofing on the top and sealed it. He even guaranteed that the work will last for 5 years, and it has lasted so far. He was the best.
Description of Work: I used Story Roofing to repair my roof. It was a very difficult repair job and it was a flat roof.
