It was clear that the "technician" sent out to do the actual work did not have the expertise required. The new carbon filter continued to leave black grit in the water. The same technician was sent back to replace that filter, and the new one did not leave the same black grit in the water, but subsequent inspections by more than one local water treatment company indicated that the carbon filter had actually been installed improperly, with the flow going in the wrong direction. I cannot be sure how this error ultimately affected the overall performance of my water treatment equipment, but I can say that shortly after the $600 "service" done by State, my water softener stopped working completely. Also during that follow-up visit, that same technician went into the hall bathroom upstairs to run the water in the sink to check that the carbon sediment had now been removed. To this day, I do not know what this person did in the bathroom, but after he left my home, I happened to open the door on the bathroom vanity and found everything in the cabinet sitting in water. I quickly soaked up all of the water and removed the drawers (also soaked) and had to leave the cabinet door open for a couple of weeks to help the water-soaked wood dry out and hopefully avoid mold formation. The only indication that anything had happened during that "service" call by the State representative was the water-soaked towel that he had forgotten to take with him and instead left on the railing in my garage. But this person walked out of my home without saying anything to me about the damage that he had done in one of my bathrooms! I called State's owner the next day to complain about what had happened, but I was not given even the courtesy of a return call. During the original installation, the same technician had made other equally serious mistakes in his work. When he removed the large holding tank, he cut the wires connecting that tank and valves to the well intake pipe in the basement wall. The next morning when I turned on my faucets, I had no water. To the credit of State's owner, he did respond to my text messages and phone calls, & came out personally to inspect the problem, but could not say what exactly had been done. He called Keller Well Drilling and they came out that same morning to install new equipment to connect to the well intake pipe in my basement. State Soft Water does seem to offer lower prices, but if they send out people who don't know what they are doing and actually do damage to your home without even telling you about it, there really is no savings to be had. This was one of my worst experiences with home repair services.
Description of Work: In October, 2016, I hired State Soft Water to 1) disconnect and remove a large holding tank previously used for methane gas removal, 2) service and clean out the resin in my old water softener, & 3) replace a large in-line water filter with a larger tank-type carbon filter.

Description of Work: I have a rental water softener from this company cause this is who the people had when we bought our home. every time you call no one answers you have to leave a message then they respond back. A person came out to check our unit we was told the screen needed to be cleaned so they cleaned it and said every thing was fine and that we needed to put 1/2 gallon of bleach in with the salt. Which didn't make sense but not knowing much about them we believed him._x000D_|Friends of ours came over that know about water softeners and told us that that our unit was at least 25 years old and that you shouldn't be putting in bleach into the salt, we shouldn't be tasting salt in the water and we should get a new one._x000D_|We called a few other companies and they told us the same thing when they came out. So we will be getting our new one installed right after the first of the year and will give you feed back on the new company.

We chose to go with a competitive proposal which we felt was better thought out than was his.

I was very pleased with the service. The sales person was very knowledgeable, friendly and most importantly, on time. Installation was smooth. System works great. The price was a little higher than what I would've liked to spend, but the water quality is well worth it.
Description of Work: I had a water purification system and filter installed.

I had a very good experience with them They weren’t too pushy. I think a lot of them have a tendency to push the client to get a new system but all we wanted to do is get tuned up so that is all they did.
Description of Work: They repaired our water softner system.

I called for a service person in the hope of determining how to reset the time on my unit. When the rep left, I still knew nothing about the system except that it was in urgent need of replacement.
Description of Work: Having bought our home in the last year, I was not able to set the timers on our two tank water softener. The technician examined the timing mechanisms and, being unfamiliar with one of the timers, pronounced it inoperable. He unplugged the unit and told us that it was time to replace it. I was charged 80 dollars for a service call (having had a 15 dollar coupon). When the tech left, I knew nothing more about my system, and now half of the system had been disabled. I later plugged the timer back into the outlet and studied the mechanism until I was able to determine how it worked. It is still operational. I later called another dealer, who told me that despite the age of the current unit it was still operating as designed. He gave me some information on the units that his company sells, answered my questions and left without charging me a dime. If the other company is of any interest, it was Reynolds Water Conditioning Co.
