Incredibly rude counter guy. TERRIBLE customer service

My wife and I bought a house with a non-working brick fireplace with gas log. We went into their showroom and the salesperson was nice and professional. However, when we inquired about an estimate for work he would not give us any details. I asked for an in home estimate and he seemed resistant to that. He told me they don't do that but then there is an Angie's list review that discussed an in home estimate. He told me I should go measure the dimensions of my fireplace without giving any specific directions on how to measure. First of all I am not the professional so if I measure wrong they would buy the wrong insert and that would be a waste of everyone's time. Plus we wanted to have new stone installed and a new mantle. Why would I spend 4-8K for a fireplace insert and unknown amount of money on stone without someone coming and measuring and giving a detailed estimate. That seems highly unprofessional. I am not in the trades and know nothing about fireplaces or masonry. I am a physician and would NOT expect my patients to measure their own blood pressure decide on their own anti-hypertensive and then give them a script. Why are they asking us to do their work?

We visited their showroom and were treated courteously. They have a good selection of gas inserts. They answered our questions and we made arrangements for a person to come to our home to measure and discuss what fireplace insert we might like. There were no high pressure tactics. We selected one and they set up an install date. 2 installers (Brandon and Chuck) arrived on time on the install date. It took 1 1/2 days to install due to electrical and gas line modifications. They worked steadily and with professionalism. They were careful to lay down tarps throughout the route they were using through the house. Overall we were very satisfied with the experience.

We were very happy with their professionalism and service. We only used them to buy stone, not to install. Very happy with the service they provided to us.

From what the Contractor said the stone was in when expected.

JOEL, THE SALES PERSON I DEALT WITH, WAS VERY PERSONABLE, ACCOMMODATING, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. THE GENTLEMEN AT THE COUNTER TOOK ALL OF OUR INFORMATION. JOEL CAME OUT TO OUR HOME (WE DIDN'T HAVE TO BE HOME) AND THEN I SPOKE WITH HIM BY PHONE ABOUT WHAT THE JOB WOULD ENTAIL, THE TIMING, PRICE AND MORE. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY TO MEET WITH ME, BUT I WAS VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE ENCOUNTERS I HAD IN THE SHOP WITH THE COMPANY. THEY HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS, IN BRIGHTON, FOR COUNTLESS YEARS FOR A REASON. THEY KNOW THEIR WORK, ARE EXCELLENT AT IT, AND ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL TO WORK WITH.
