Property Care Hardwood Floors

The workers were pleasant, punctual and highly professional. Communication was excellent and the quality of work was outstanding (floors look great). I would definitely use them again and recommend them to people in need of oak floor refinishing.

Lets start with the estimate. Tom was very good. He answered all my questions. We have a 150 year old house so it can pose some interesting problems. He told me that he could make the floor flat but not level. Very true! It was done to perfection. They tied all the floors into each other, did a great job around the fireplace, made the bay window floor transition flawless, and satisfied my wife with the color of the stain in minutes. The job took around a week, which is what we expected.I would highly recommend them for any floor job.

They did a beautiful job and we were very happy. We would recommend them to others having their hardwood floors refinished. They were very nice and kind and gave me a hardwood floor care kit.

Property Care responded to all of my calls and any questions I had from the beginning. They said they'd come out on a Monday at 6pm for an estimate, but called me around 10am that day and said that they were in my area and could stop by around 12pm if it was convenient for me. It was and that time worked out better.Tom and Barb were polite and professional and didn't mind at all that a toddler was following them around asking questions. Again, they answered any questions we had (as well as our toddler) and explained what the project would entail and what we should expect.We had a pretty large dining room table and china closet that needed to be moved before the floors could be refinished. I asked if the crew would do that or if we needed to have it moved prior to installation. Tom told me that the crew generally moved furniture if it wasn't too fragile, heavy, etc.The crew was scheduled to come on a Tuesday, but Barb called me on Monday and said that they had gotten tied up at their current job, so the work would have to start Wednesday. This was a minor inconvenience because we were trying to make arrangements to vacate the house since we couldn't stay there while the work was being done. Juggling two working parents, a toddler, an infant, and a dog makes that tricky. Still, it was unforeseeable and the work was only one day later.The crew showed up on-time and ready to go on Wednesday. The only hiccup came when I showed them the dining room furniture and asked if I could get some help moving it. The lead crewman said they didn't usually move any furniture. I explained what I had been told and he agreed to help. The stuff was big but not heavy and the two of us had it moved in about five minutes.He then offered to hang a large plastic sheet from the wall and ceiling to keep dust from getting into an adjacent room, which I appreciated. The lead crewman explained the process and the timeline for the project and asked if I had any questions. I didn't, and the three of them got to work. These guys were detail-oriented and got the job done on-time. We weren't around for most of the work, but it was clear that they respected our home and took pride in their job.We came home Sunday-morning. The smell from the chemicals was REALLY strong, but opening some windows and running a few fans helped that and within a few hours we were able to shut the windows and turn on the A/C. Also, they promise that they process is almost 100% dustless and it is. There was very little dust in the room where they worked and they had taken the time to wipe down counters and appliances in the kitchen, which was appreciated.The floors look fantastic. They are about as close to the wood in the adjacent room as you can get without using the same exact wood and stain. They seem really durable and it looks like a brand-new floor was installed. Overall, we're very, very pleased and we would use Property Care again.

Property Care Hardwood Floors, owners came out for the estimate when they said they would. They had a couple days that opened up so were able to plug us in sooner than we originally planned. Yea!! Our problem, we had painted our wood floor in the sunroom x2 and now wanted to go back to original wood and stain it. A team of two young men came promptly on the start date. They were polite, friendly, knowledgeable and hardworking. They vacuumed the floor, removed toe molding, then got right to work sanding the floor and kept at it until they were done. We settled on a color which they mixed up. They applied filler to the floor. After it dried they applied the stain. They came back the next day, on time, to apply the sealant. We are very pleased at how beautiful the floor looks. We have a kitchen and parlor that need refinishing and we will be calling this company again.

They were amazing! Always stayed in contact, friendly but not intrusive, arrived on-time, were clean and efficient and the floors look amazing! They did such a great job they we have decided to do the same wood flooring upstairs and they will be back to do that! I cannot recommend them highly enough!!

Tom was very helpful in estimating the job and was very clear on what services they would provide. The price was just right. We felt we got far more than our moneys worth. Tom and Melissa completed the install. They were great and efficient. I felt very comfortable with them. The job was completed right on schedule and with no surprises. I will never use another flooring company again. I hight recommend Property Care Hardwood Floors. Great job!

Barb and Tom were very punctual for our appointment to get an estimate. Tom is very knowledgeable and made us feel very confident in their abilities from the beginning. The job took a couple days longer than expected, but the results were amazing. The floors are beautiful and we are 100% pleased with the work. We had both oak and pine in the house and they were able to stain them so that there is a very subtle difference in the color.

Tom and his crew (adult children Missy & Tommy) were excellent. Did everything as promised/estimated. Even though I purchased the hardwood flooring itself from Lumber Liquidators, Tom made a special trip to pick up the large order of wood and deliver it to my home. No extra charge. They always were professional and very accommodating. I would definitely use them again. They cleaned everything up. One small installation problem was quickly fixed with no hassle. In short Great Job and Fair Price - what every business should do.

We got an estimate from Tom Hoffmeyer in December 2011 and did not have our floors refinished until April. He honored the estimate. The only negative was that at the time of the estimate we discussed the business and thought that he, his sister and father did all the work. It was a surprise when two men showed and told us that the family only did installations and they did refinishing. They did an excellent job. It was difficult work because it involved sealing off the kitchen and entryway which have vaulted ceiling; and working in confined spaces, doing three closets and two narrow hallways, much of which had to be done on hands and knees. Because of fumes from the finish we had to leave our home for two days. When we returned it looked as if we had new floors installed. We have been singing the praises of Property Care to friends and neighbors. Additionally, they left a floor care kit.

We received quotes from 4 firms. Property Care and 2 others were within 5% of each other. One of them was 40% cheaper. We went with Property Care because they seemed to be the most professional. We found them to exceed our expectations. It was a large job and had to be scheduled around other contractors on the project. They were extremely understanding and always let us know when they would be late or not there. The work performed was amazing and has turned our 85 year home into a showcase. We highly recommend their work!

Tom came out to complete the appraisal the day after we called. He was very professional and discussed all aspects of installing 750 square feet of hardwood flooring that we purchased. We set a date for installation based on our availability and they assisted us in purchasing the right underlayment to ensure a minimum of noise to the condo below. Tom and Melissa arrived on the date set and were very efficient and professional in everything they did from moving furniture to tearing out the carpeting and installing the hardwood flooring. We discussed any questions and concerns each day. Tom Sr. was also involved in the work and they are an efficient team. We have nothing but praise for their willingness to provide suggestions and listen to our ideas.This team goes the extra mile to make sure their customers are satisfied. They take great pride in their work and it shows in the details and excellent work that they do.

They were easy to work with from start to finish. I got three different quotes and decided to go with Property Care based on price and the great reviews I read on Angie's List. I'm not the type of person who makes these decisions lightly, either. I did hours of hours of research looking into different companies and Property Care appeared to be the best combo of value and quality work. Another issue we were facing was that we bought a foreclosed home and our move--in date was only two weeks away. I really wanted/needed to get our floors done before we moved into the house, and some companies couldn't accommodate that request when I asked. Property Care sat down with us to work out a plan, re-aligned their schedule, and made it work within our tight timeshare. The owner Tom and his son and daughter showed up early in the morning and worked for several days to get the job done. They did a stellar job, cleaned up after themselves, and we absolutely love the floors. I would absolutely 100% recommend them to anyone looks to get hardwoods installed.

All of my interactions with the company were positive and consistent with all of the other Angie's List reviews. I was able to schedule a quote shortly after my initial contact with the company - during the quote, Tom answered all of my detailed questions and also provided me with a printed out quote while at my house. Once I decided to have the floors refinished, the company was booked out approximately 6 weeks but was able to give me a definite date that they were available to start. several days before the sanding was to begin, Tom & family came out to do the floor repairs and other prep work so the sanders could get started right away. All of the repair work was exceptionally done and now that the floors are done, you can't tell where there is replacement wood. Throughout the service all representatives of the company were punctual, professional and completely trustworthy. The sanders provided several options for stain color and helped me pick one that looks awesome in my home. I really cannot think of anything that they could have done better!

Our hardwood floors in our kitchen were trashed from the previous owner. They had a beautiful 175 lb dog that did a number on the floors so bad that they were down to the bare wood. We needed to get them refinished immediately. After the wonderful reviews Property Care had on Angie's list, I did not hesitate to call. From the first phone call, to the last day the guys were at our home it was a VERY positive experience. The technicians were so thorough, polite, trustworthy and most importantly true craftsman. They explained each step of the process to us and were done in a very neat and timely fashion. I would HIGHLY recommend them!!

In short, very disappointed. Property Care does very little of their own work; they sub-contract the majority and charging a premium while providing little or no oversight. The biggest complaint is Tom is a horrible communicator and fails to set any expectations. After carpet was removed, two steps were severely damaged, however the owner did not want to replace them due to the difficulty but offered to get it the "college try". I was then asked to make appointment with the floor finisher to pick a stain. The appointment consisted of the gentlemen sanding a portion of the floor and then dabbing tap water on an area followed by two shades of a brown; in other words no selection. He explained that he did not stain on the truck and offered to come back. In short, I had a selection of about 3 walnut shades and again plain water for the "natural" look. I chose a shade and left out of town due to sanding and finishing. Findings: -Property Care never reviewed the work of the third finisher -The holes were never patched in the steps and when done upon asking, the job was mediocre. -The area around the breaker panel was damaged (the surrounding area is finished drywall) as the flooring finisher needed access. I never informed this until I found the damage and asked Tom about it. He confirmed this was done; again no communication. -Debris was found after the finisher left; Example: rusted finishing nails left on top of a freshly painted white fireplace mantle. -While the risers were "topped" for a paintable surface, the surrounding stringers were not; in short, a half job. All in all, Property Care had the highest of three quotes, but I placed faith on the Angie List rating (probably too much) and believe Property Care was capable of quality workmanship. Based on the pricing of about $600.00 more than most, this faith was sorely misplaced. I would not recommend them as the value is not there.

Courteous, prompt, informative and hard working .get in and out and clean up done very well.A little pricey but then we were very happy with the complete job.

Property Care, Inc., a family business, was impressive from beginning to end. The estimate provided on the first visit was informative and specific as to what was to be accomplished and was very competitive - as was their starting date. They accomplished the job within the expected time. The professionalism of this mother, father, daughter team was impressive throughout the project. The mother arranged the times and dates for job performance; the father and daughter accomplished the challenging job of repairing, sanding, staining and finishing the existing 108 year old hardwood floor. They were meticulous in their job performance and conscious of not disturbing anything outside of the project. As if this wasn't enough, they provided me with a mop and cleaner to maintain my beautiful new floor! I have recommended them since and am grateful to Angie's List.

I left Property Care a message over Thanksgiving weekend asking them to call regarding a small hardwood project we were considering. They called me promptly on the Monday after Thanksgiving and even came to provide an estimate that same evening! We had met with several hardwood flooring companies and none of them demonstrated a knowledge even close to Property Care. Tom took the time to explain the different grades of Hardwood and how the grades impacted our preferred flooring choice (Brazilian Cherry). He also identified a significant option specific to our project that no other flooring contractor had mentioned before. Our project was small in that we were replacing carpeting in our home office with hardwood floors (about 200 sq ft). However, it was more difficult than it may seem as we wanted to match hardwoods that were installed in adjacent rooms 5+ years before and there were two subfloors in the home office. Property Care explained options for meeting our needs and the entire process was great. Property Care are great people to deal with; they are professional and respectful, they are knowledgeable, they left the house they way they found it (aside from the new floors and a little dust), and they showed up on the day and time they said they would! We have at least one more room in which we plan to install hardwoods and we won't even call another company when we are ready to do that work.

Tom came to give me a quote. Then came back when I asked for a special wood that wasn't on his sample board. They started the work when they said they would and completed on time.

Overall great business with this fair and honest company. They did not recommend services for which there was no need and did not charge me for coming out to do the estimate. Honest people!

Overall the installation and quality of work were excellent I would use Property Care again for future installations.

Property Care was one of 4 different installers that we had do estimates for us. Their representative (Tom) showed up right on time and turned out to be the owner. He took a good look around and answered all my questions as his estimate was the third one I had been through. The major concern for me was that i was ordering "factory second" planks from another company and would not be needing wood from his company. I needed to know how much and what to order. Specifically, I didn't want to under order for the job because the supplier was in Florida and would delay the job if there were broken or low quality boards. I also did not want to over order because the "seconds" are sold "AS IS". But my wife and I really wanted this particular wood as it was the same wood we already had in one level of our home and the price difference was over $6/sq ft... so we were willing to get 25% more than we needed to ensure a quality floor. Tom was extremely helpful with what to order and gave me an estimate of $2188.80 and a work time of 2 to 3 days. This was by far the best estimate we had in terms of price. Add to that the fact, that I felt really comfortable with his description of the work and I was sold. We scheduled the work to be done on 10/10/2011 - 10/12/2011. I ordered the wood and waited for the day to arrive. Turns out...when they say they are a "family" operation...they mean it! At 8:30am, Tom's son arrives at my door, introduces himself and tells me his dad and sister will be here soon. He immediately begins walking the project and getting ready to do the project. At 8:35am Tom and his daughter show up and the workday began. They took a lunch break around 11 and resumed work before noon. They moved all the furniture (and our stuff is large) themselves, removed the carpet, padding, leveled the sub-floor and installed 1/2 of the wood on the main level (3 story brownstone). They left around 5pm. This continued for 3 days. Arrive at 8am, break for lunch, leave by 5pm. No nonsense and get the job done with incredibly minimal need to ever trouble me for anything. At 5pm on the last day --- everything was finished and beautiful. They put all my furniture on felt pads (either nail in or adhesive) and moved it around for me. They provided me with a Bona? hardwood cleaning tool and spray product and the bill--$2188.80--exactly as quoted. WOW! The floor looks great. I couldn't ask for better. If you are looking for quality installation, these are your people!! Thanks for a great job! Hopefully I will be able to add photos to this later. :)
