Description of Work: In Jan. 2014 McCardel Culligan purchased the franchise from whom I purchased my Kinetico water treatment system ten years prior (Polar Water Systems). We had received a flier and survey from McCardel saying they could service our Kinetico unit. So, I contacted them for service, they showed up, but no service was done. The service guy didn't have/couldn't get the parts. As it turned out, McCardel is not an authorized Kinetico dealer or repair service as they pretend to be. I confirmed this directly with Kinetico. McCardel has parts obtained through the acquisition of my former Kinetico vendor, but if the parts you need are not on their shelves, they can't service your Kinetico equipment as Kinetico will not sell parts to a competitor (Culligan). Kinetico told me this. Bottom line is McCardel Culligan charged me $113.00 for a house call to service Kinetico equipment they had no right to say they could service. I confronted them on this apparent deception and they returned my check saying they weren't a "predatory company"...their words, not mine. Other Kinetico customers need to know about this apparent attempt by McCardel to clear Kinetico parts off of their shelves and make money servicing equipment they are not authorized to service, before spending good money and wasting time.

+ -1 morethe date of our appointment it was cold and snowy, and the culligan man had to install the system in our crawl space. He was only dressed in a sweatshirt and pair of pants. We notified them beforehand that it was crawl space. The man went under our home and came up and said he couldn't install the system. He actually refused. He said there was standing water down there and he wouldn't be subjected to that, he didn't know if it was sewage or what. He said he has done i before and won't do it again. I apologized because I did not know, I don't go under our house. He said it may be until June or July until they can come out. After all of this he continued by saying that his employer gets paid to sell these systems and he won't do it. After he left (after drilling a hole in my floor). I then had a plumber come out o make sure nothing was wrong and make sure it wasn't sewage which it was fine down there. After this I called to complain the manager set a 2nd date and took money off my bill for the trouble. He did apologize profusely for his employees behavior, but the whole experience just soured my view on them.
Description of Work: When we first contacted Culligan, they came out and performed a water test. It showed we had high iron which we knew. We decided to set a date to get a system installed.

+ -1 moreThey had one of those coupons to come out and check water softeners. I paid only for the coupon, which was about $35 and they left their flyers too, that’s when I thought I’ll let somebody check out my water softener. He just came out and stood there and looked at it. I don’t thing I had a clue and I don’t know if he has even worked on water softener’s. He said I can’t do anything with that and I have to have my sales person call you and we will have to replace it. Then he called somebody to come out and he said it’ll cost you a couple of thousand dollars to replace it. At that point I definitely felt like I had been scammed. I was not impressed with them in any area.
Description of Work: I used McCardel Culligan to check out my water softener.
