I attempted to hire Rick after reading several, seemingly, reliable great reviews here on Angie's List. He was supposed to fix some damage due to a leak in our roof that leaked into our track lighting as well as do some drywall repairs and painting. I practically had to chase him around and hold his hand through the entire process of getting the estimate done and submitted to homeowner's insurance. I was very patient, but his followed up was terrible and he never even started the job. I contacted him initially on 3/14/18 and the job has not been started as of 4/16/18. I tried to give him the benefit of doubt as I am not one to go out of my way to leave a bad review, but he left me no choice. I gave him several chances, called, emailed several times and he continuously dragged his feet, so to speak. I understand that contractors are busy so I tried to be patient, but with us trying to get our house prepared to put on the market soon, we did not have time to continue to wait and chase him. Unfortunately, I can not recommend doing business with this company.

It went very well. I was happy with the pricing, the communication of the job and what to expect. The crew was very punctual, very courteous, and did a very nice job cleaning up. The job was preformed on schedule and Rick was a great to answer all my questions as it went along. The project itself was awesome and I have received a ton of compliments from my neighbors. I never knew how much new functioning gutters would do for the house. I would for sure hire Murray Built again for any of my home renovations.

I have been using them for years. The service was excellent. If something else is needed, he'll gladly bring it to your attention. If it's not too much extra for him, he will go ahead and fix it real quick.

I texted a picture of the leak to his son as requested. Never heard back from him. I called twice after that but never got a response. This is not at all what his father would've done. I was very disappointed in the lack of response. Would not recommend to anyone

The job went very well. Our 1950s, brick colonial needed a little over 900 square feet of new roof on the main part of the house. The addition area did not need a new roof. The detached garage didn't need it either. We chose Owens Corning shingles with an Owens Corning synthetic underlayment. 6' of ice guard, too. Rick's crew arrived after the shingles were delivered and proceeded to remove the old roof, repair some 1 x 6 boards, and install the new roof all in one day. As discussed, workers returned 2 days later to cut holes in the soffit to install venting. They fixed up the corner gutter returns as well because 3 of them were pulling away from the house and one was a great place for bird nests. All of the workers were easy to communicate with and there were zero issues in terms of the work being done, cleanup and cost. Murray Built is a solid company with a long established track record in the Berkley, Royal Oak, Huntington Woods area. I took the time to get 7 quotes before choosing a contractor. The quotes varied from $2700 to $6200. I judged Murray Built to be the most straight forward and reasonably priced option. I am an Engineer and sometimes contractor plans and actions don't make sense to me and it can be difficult work to make sure I get the work that I want. That wasn't the case here. These guys knew what they were doing from start to finish. The experience was completely smooth and easy.

They did an excellent job ! The new roof looks beautiful and the gutters are just right. They always use the highest quality products and pay attention to every detail. I have also had windows and siding installed by Murray Built over ten years ago with no leaks or any other problems. They really know what they are doing and offer a very fair price. From start to finish a job well done. They did my mother's roof many years ago - still looking good. I think that local independent contractors like Murray Built offer a great service and take pride in their workmanship and the community. The crew was very nice to the neighbors and as always made sure everything was done just right.

The experience was very good and they did a good job. We got several estimates and they were pretty much in the middle.

Murray's was very skilled and helpful. The men were polite and clean cut and worked hard. They did an awesome job and had it done even sooner than I expected, which impressed me.

They were great to work with from start to finish. It is a family owned, my job was done by the father and son! I will definitely use them in the future!!

They were clean and knowledgeable workers. The owner came by every day to check on progress and was very accessible by phone. They cleaned up after the work each day. We were challenged by some delays (because of snow/ice), but they made me feel confident doing the job during the winter. Re-scheduling because of the weather was handled professionally.

They came and repaired the problem with our roof. They did try to sell a new roof.
