CORRECTION TO ANGIE'S LIST: At the time of our jobs Morgans was bonded and insured. We were about to start construction on a new detached, insulated, heated garage and our concrete guy flaked out. After searching online, going through the phonebook, talking to friends, searching Craigslist, and scouring Angie's List we eventually identified a few companies that were still giving estimates for late fall. We found Morgans on Angie's List and they turned out to have the best price. Eddie handled estimating and has been my main contact. He is a pro. He voluntarily provided me with their insurance and bonding paperwork at our first meeting. He's polite, punctual, and shows up to work alongside his crew (which includes his son and brother). My only issue was that we played some phone tag around Thanksgiving, which was to be expected. The new walkways and stairs were a last minute request but he squeezed us in so my 6 months pregnant wife had a safe way into our house. Pricing was excellent on the garage pad and apron. The job required considerably more fill than anticipated, which we paid for, but the final cost was still lower than our other quotes. We paid a premium on the walkways and stairs, but they needed to use a cold weather concrete mix (which is more expensive) and showed up on a 27 degree day in December to do it. I'm sure we would have saved several hundred dollars by combining the jobs instead of waiting until winter to add the walks and steps. On the job these guys are superb. They keep their music and conversation quiet and get right to work. They're fast and have a quiet flow that obviously comes from working together for a long time. On the garage we used "advanced framing" with 2"x6" studs on 24" centers, 2" XPS insulation under the pad and as a frost break, and a 3 mil vapor barrier. Eddie took good notes when I talked to him and met with my builder and electrician before the pour. Everything was done perfectly to spec and the builder plans to use Morgans on future jobs. The slab and apron took about 2 1/2 days. The walks and steps were done in around 4 hours. I hope we don't need any more concrete work, but in case we do Morgans will be my first call. Great guys, professional service, fast installation and excellent quality.
Description of Work: Morgans poured a 24'x24' insulated pad for a new garage, a 16'x22' approach apron, and new walkways/stairs into the side door of our house. A portion of the work was completed in below freezing temperatures.

Excellent small business firm. I found Eddie and his crew to be experienced and dependable. The concrete job at my house looks great and was professionally done at a reasonable price. We will contract with Eddie and his crew at Morgan Concrete againEdd
Description of Work: Morgan Concrete crew promptly bid the job, scheduled it for 2 weeks later and showed up on time. The crew properly graded lawn for a very large backyard patio and walkway; removed old sidewalk, and set forms the first day. Then the next day the crew professionally completed the concrete pour, and cleaned up. Eddie came back to check on the job and remove forms the 3rd day.

They're definitely "A"-rated for me. We have a very difficult to access area and they were most willing to accommodate me. They couldn't get their big equipment in but they said it was no problem and they would wheel it in. They did a great job doing it and they tried to minimize damage to my lawn. They had to go across the lawn with a lot of heavy stuff and they did their best not to damage it. The actual concrete work itself was good-looking and professional. It was level and strong and everything that anyone would want in a concrete project. Their pricing was very competitive.
Description of Work: Morgan's Concrete built a retaining wall and did a big slab for us.

Showed up on time and quickly got to work. Concrete was poured very neatly. They were careful not to damage the lawn. They cleaned up pretty well and provided all the info needed to maintain the new concrete.

The concrete was about twenty three or twenty four years old. It was cracking. It had not been put in as well as it should have been. It was settling. I had had it mud jacked once where it was settling, but it was still settling. So I talked with a few contractors and they all felt that when that was done, the house was brand new and that the preparation work had not been sufficient. The compacting had not been done as it should have been or not enough of it was done. I ended up going with these folks. The job was done. The work today looks excellent. Three men showed up and they just never quit working. They came in and they just all knew what to do. It was like watching a military operation. They just didn't even have to talk to each other because they have been doing it so long. They knew what was next and what they had to do to keep the job moving. The job was actually completed a little bit ahead of time. It has come through the winter fine. My wife and I are well pleased with it. I would recommend them quite highly. I followed around and checked a little bit on their application from some people that I knew had used them. My experience has been very positive with them so far. I look at my job and I look at some other older work that they have done, and there's nothing wrong with it. They did what they said they would do. I wasn't going to have the sidewalk put in, but then we went ahead and talked to them. We told them that we would like to add on something. They refigured their cost for us and went ahead and did that. The sidewalk looks terrific. I wish I had it years ago.
Description of Work: Morgan's Concrete replaced the concrete approach to my double part garage. They removed all of the old concrete. Before they put the new back in, they did a process called dowels where they drilled horizontally into the side of the basement and also into the garage floor. They put muddle pens in there sticking out where the new concrete would be poured. That is something that is done to prevent any more settling. They went ahead and did this and said that it was prevention. They also ran a sidewalk for me where I did not have a sidewalk.

The job went well, the three men worked steadily, safely, and worked well together. From breaking the old concrete, forming the new approach, and two seperate single steps, poring and finishing this job, the three men worked together, each one knew what his duties were, and they got everything done at the right time, went on to the next thing, all with very little talk. I believe they have done concrete work so much, that they know what the next part of the job is, and it just gets done with a minimum of talk. When the finishing of the concrete was complete, they did a good job of cleaning up. We would not hesitate to hire them again, and would not hesitate to reccomend Morgan's Concrete and Construction Co. .
Description of Work: Old concrete approach to our two car garage had settled over the years, and the low side tilted toward the foundation and basement wall. Contractor utilized pneumatic jack hammer to break old concrete and remove it. A side walk needed to be constructed running from approach pad, turn 90 degree's,toward front porch, and a concrete step formed at that juncture. A similar step was also formed at the driveway pad end of porch. A three man crew did all the work from start to finish, two of the men are owners of the company.

Great job! Mr. Morgan and his crew were prompt and very professional. They didn't stop working until the job was done. Extremely conscientious about doing the job well. We had requested more than the standard concrete around the pool and they made it look fantastic. I would definitely use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them. The address and phone number on Angies List are incorrect. The telephone number is 269-317-1799, located at 6100 Purdy Drive, Battle Creek.
