Very poor business practices. Owner does not stand behind his work. 14k to rebuild a chimney and after 2 seasons the mortar is failing and bricks are chipping and now claims he “isn’t in a financial position to work for free”. When asked if he expects his work to last longer than 2 seasons he claimed that he expects it to but sometimes it doesn’t and that the contract explicitly states no warranty. It does indeed say that, but he also said numerous times during the 2 week long project that he “stands behind his work”. He does not. At all. Don’t get taken by this unscrupulous contractor. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Sir, we had to use bricks of a similar height, width, color, and texture, but the length was shorter because the exact replica was no longer obtainable. Now, when I went out to your house to redress your grievance, I saw a singular spalled brick... one of those long bricks original to the chimney. Not one of the new short bricks we installed. You claim that there were "bricks chipping". When I mentioned that I couldn't see more than one brick chipping, you never took opportunity to point out any more to me. In the same way it'[Member Information Removed] unfair to tell an auto mechanic that contracted to replace an engine and radiator that he doesn't stand behind his own work when later the water pump fails, it'[Member Information Removed] also unfair to say I don't stand behind my work when a brick fails that we never replaced. I have a signature to the following contract on your original inspection report, and on all your estimates the below disclaimer. Signed in 2018: "I understand that MSC is not responsible for concealed defects or condition of use.", and on your three contracts the following statement was in the disclaimer in 2019. "Since conditions of use and hidden construction defects are beyond our control, no warranty is made by Master Sweep Chimney Service LLC (MSC) for the safety or function and none is to be implied." On another online platform you have complained that the brick pattern didn't match, which potential was forewarned in your estimate that this may be the case under the labor cost heading "Masonry:Reclaimed Brick unit... Reclaimed brick for your chimney could prove difficult to match." It appears you assented to the brickwork going up in a pattern different than the original which was proven when you never stopped the work while occurring, you paid without complaint, and haven't complained in the two years since it went up. From our records, we could only tally a range of $11K - $12K of corrective contracts to your chimney. Who'[Member Information Removed] ever heard of an auto mechanic that put a 2 year warranty on work he never performed?

Was prepping our fireplace and chimney for an insert. Wanted it clean before a new (wood burner) insert was installed. Jeriah was very knowledgeable and informative. Was impressed with his professionalism. Was in and out seemed like know time. Our schedules seemed to click. Job well done!

his smartphone and deal with this. I was confused???Then I asked are you rescheduling mine and he said if you want me to sit here and figure all this out and take a half hour more of my time???Being very hostile and rude!!!II could not believe these responses. MY ADVICE TO MR. JERIAH IS TO NOT SCHEDULE 4-5 JOBS IN A DAY UNLESS HE CAN DO THEM. Needless to say I have another company scheduled to do job BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!
Description of Work: I scheduled an appt for September 22,2014 at 12:00 over a month ago. When I did not hear from them I called and no answer then I received text someone will call back. 10 minutes later the owner Jeriah called and said he was still in Canton working on another job and would be late. I told him that was fine. He then preceeds to tell me no I cant make it I have 4 more calls today and my next job after you is Royal Oak and I wont be able to do yours. I asked why was mine being cancelled and was told he did not have time to sit on

I spoke with this customer's husband by phone, who had complained about my rudeness. I explained that my wife/secretary was very sick at the doctors and I was having a hard time managing the schedule. I offered to make up for the miscommunication by doing free work and to put off my next job. In this line of work we do the best we can to understand the set up of each job ahead of time, but it is the nature of chimneys that there is always a chance of extenuating circumstances, that is something that can't be helped. We will also take into consideration our customer's advice on scheduling and try to do better in the future. Please be understanding, this was a bad set of circumstances, Hope this helps.
