Great. The company was able to accommodate my scheduling issues relating to simultaneous siding work on our house. They followed my instructions on where and where not to insulate, took their time, let me know where there were issues (such as siding bowing out - not a problem since the siding was about to be redone), and cleaned up when they were done. I was very impressed with service and price.
Description of Work: Add cellulose insulation to about half of the exterior walls (the other half had already been done from an earlier remodel).

It went very well overall! Joe did a nice job of estimating the service needed and Jason was a great installer. I had virtually no clean-up and little prep. Jason brought the hose through the bedroom window, which I did not expect. I assumed they would have to come in front door, up stairs and all the way down the hall. Jason kept me informed every step of the way and he was very professional and helpful. Although I dreaded this task, it went remarkably well! I am noticing a big difference in the 2nd floor bedrooms. They seem to be holding the heat so much better already. From the first call I made to the last hand shake, they were all super.

The workmen arrived when they said they would. The job took less than 2 hours, as expected. The charge was exactly as estimated. The workmen made sure I saw the depth of the insulation before they left, to verify the job had been completed. The office set up the scheduling for the estimator and workmen and reminded me of the appointments.
Description of Work: Added 8-10 inches of insulation in the attic.

Spink was a fantastic contractor to work with. I acquired multiple quotes and Spink was by far the cheapest and worked with me to facilitate a Michigan Saves loan. Their installers performed an excellent job and demonstrated nothing but professionalism throughout the process.

Description of Work: The job took twice as long as estimated. The insulation made the attic smell like wet newspapers, for months. When it was pumped under the attic floor, it came pouring out of the second floor recessed lighting fixtures and coated the entire house. The installed told me they "occasionally" taped plastic bags around the fixtures to capture the dust. Why they didn't do ours I'll never know. |It took me 8 hours of dusting & vacuuming to clean up. All this one day before relatives descended on us for the holidays. |Luckily the lights were UL approved for being surrounded by insulation or who knows what the solution might have been. |When I complained about the continuing smell, the boss came out and said "that's the way attics smell", which was ridiculous. They did agree to cover up the insulation with plastic, which cut down on the smell and now, years later, it's finally subsided. |All in all, it was extremely disruptive, aggravating and potentially dangerous if our recessed lights had ignited the insulation. |Lastly, their installers never used masks when pulling out the existing fiberglass insulation, which I recommended on several occasions. Their lungs, but unprofessional to say the least. |Homeowners should seriously consider these potential issues before undertaking this project. While it has improved the tightness of the house, the price was high. |Good luck.

Description of Work: They put extra insulation in my attic. The crew leader was helpful and articulate and told me all the things I wanted to know. They were able to get the insulation installed without disturbing me while I was working from home in the same house. They installed insulation in places that I hadn't even realized had deficient insulation. Too soon to tell if the insulation will reduce my heating bills. It could be my imagination but I feel like the house is a little quieter. | |I would happily hire them again. |

Top notch, from start to finish. From the appointment setter to the estimator to the guys who came out to do the work - professional, responsive, and easy to work with. I had to have a second estimate appointment, because I forgot to ask about a certain section of the house - no problem, scheduled within a couple days. Once we decided to move ahead, appointment was scheduled quickly. Guys showed up right on time, worked very consistently, spotted an issue and dealt with it without changing our agreed-upon estimate, cleaned up thoroughly before they left. Excellent value in pricing, very knowledgeable staff, second time we have used them, and if we ever have any further insulation needs, we will definitely call Spink.

Terry and Joe came to give is a quote and they were both wonderful! Very knowledgable and through with their inspection and explaining what needed to be done and how the installation would go. It was very easy to book the appointment and we only had to wait a week to have it done from quote to finished product. Johnny did the blown in insulation and showed up exactly on time and was very polite and called before he left to explain everything that was done and to let me know he was leaving. Brian came to do the spray foam and he and his partner worked their butts off in pretty hot temps. I appreciated that they called to tell me they would be turning the air off and to ask if I wanted them to open a window in the room my dogs were in so they didn't get too hot...that is service! Both installers were polite, appreciative and clean and we honestly couldn't be happier! We had 4 other quotes and Spink was the highest but you truly pay for quality and I am so glad we did!!!

Description of Work: Added blown-in cellulose insulation to attic areas above all living spaces. In general they were professional, on-time, and cleaned-up after their work. They did cause some ceiling damage (cracks) when they were overhead, but they were very prompt with a repair crew, and their repair crew was absolutely top-notch. After the repairs were completed, you couldn't tell there had been any damage. Based on discussions with others in the neighborhood who had used them, this appears to be a rare and unusual occurrence and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Estimate was reasonable, and owner was personable. Quite a few mistakes made on cellulose install, and very sloppy foam install. Multiple unnecessary holes cut through drywall into ductwork. Additional holes bored up the wall to install hose to vacuum out cellulose accidentally blown into ductwork. Two floor to ceiling cracks occurred in drywall due to over expansion (but we knew this was a possibility with retro fit insulation). A 2and quot; hole was cut through our garage rim joist to install cellulose from the exterior--not only is that a basic carpentry mistake, but there was also no plug installed to contain the cellulose. The two young men who came for the original install were nice, and the third gentlemen who came the next day to mud the multiple 2and quot; holes bored every 16and quot; was polite as well but informed me he had never used drywall mud before--and it showed. We had quite a bit of foam overspray in our basement which also landed on some of our stored winter clothing amongst other items. We did call the owner to communicate our concerns with the sloppy workmanship of especially the foam install, and he did offer to send the young man out to clean up the mess--which he did. As for replacing the items of clothing, I didn't pursue due to not having an original receipt of purchase. Why am I reviewing so long after install? We have recently had two neighbors inquire about our experience with our insulation installation. Would I use Spink again? If they could guarantee to send experienced personnel - probably. But at this point, there are more cellulose installers out there, and I may be willing to look elsewhere.

fellas who did the job were great - friendly and efficient - Janet at the office was very friendly and helpful - from visit to get measurements for estimate to being contacted with estimate was noticeably longer than other companies I dealt with- also when company had to re-schedule installation date I did not receive a phone call when promised and had to contact them - this is a small matter however that doesn't keep me from recommending the company
Description of Work: existing insulation was fiberglass R-13 -they added 12" of Nu Wool pesticide cellulose to bring to R-50 covering 1245 sq.ft. of attic they also installed baffles and blockers as needed

Only difficulty was responsiveness for initial install date after estimate given. Otherwise workman finished job quickly and efficiently. Only minor drawback was some dust, but to be expected with blown in insulation.
Description of Work: Increased insulation in Attics. House is much warmer.
