We discovered an ice dam on our roof that caused damage at our front foyer. Ken recommended a roofing contractor who they have worked with who came promptly and fixed the problem quickly. Lussenden staff were very professional and prompt. I was a pleasure to work with them and we will work with them again.

This organization is of very high quality.

Last summer (2011) we began painting the exterior of our house ourselves. We realized that we weren't going to be able to finish the job before winter if we kept on doing it ourselves. We had seen Ken Lussenden signs in a yard, so we called. At that time of year it's difficult to find someone who has an opening in their schedule; everyone is trying to finish jobs before winter -- so we really appreciated that Lussenden was able to help us out. I can't remember when they started, but I believe it was late October. We needed them to paint all of the back of the house and one other side. We had told them that no one would be home the first day as we both had to work. We left the paint outside for them. I got off work at noon and I returned home at 12:45 p.m. and no one was there. I could tell some things had been moved around, so I assumed they were at lunch and would be back later that day. I stayed home the rest of the day and they did not come back at all. The next day, I was home and talked with a couple of them about what needed to be done. I did not mention having returned home in the middle of the day before, but they discussed in my presence the fact that they had left my house at about 2:15 or 2:30 that previous day -- something like this: "when did we leave yesterday, was it 2:15? No, I think it was more like 2:30". Odd, since I knew they hadn't been there since at least 12:45. I didn't say anything to them about this until the next day. They disagreed with me, but finally conceded that we had probably "passed each other" on the road and maybe it was more like 1:30. This was not true; I had come straight home from work that day and I looked at the time because I wondered where they were. Every day they left trash and personal possessions laying in our yard -- styrofoam cups, bottles and caps, jackets, even a cell phone which we rescued because it was supposed to rain. One day they left some scaffolding in such a way that I couldn't close the window in that second-floor room. This was on a Friday, they weren't coming back until Monday, and again it was supposed to rain over the weekend. I had to remove the screen from that window and push the scaffolding away as best I could while simultaneously cranking the window shut, then go downstairs and outside and mess with it some more. One day they showed up in the morning but left because the paint they had applied the previous day was damp. It had been cool overnight and I believe it was damp from condensation, but they said there must be a problem with applying this type of paint in cooler temperatures, and so took the rest of the day off. I think one guy came in the afternoon for a couple of hours. The next day they decided they could actually paint with this paint. The quality of the work is awful. The job called for painting a dark color over a light color. You can still easily see the light color through the thin coat of dark which they applied. They got a significant amount of paint on several windows. There are big swipes of paint wiped off the door jamb, where I imagine their clothing or a rag brushed against it when it was wet. Unfortunately they declared themselves finished and didn't come back and we didn't discover these problems until after they had left, because we were at work on what turned out to be their last day. It looks to me like they were in a big hurry to leave every day, and be paid for a day's work that wasn't really a full day. Just my opinion, based on what I experienced. We called Ken to complain. He said he was leaving for Seattle for the winter and would contact us when he returned the following spring. Well, it's almost a year later and we still haven't heard a word from him. I can understand making mistakes. I can't understand lying about the amount of hours spent on a job, taking money for such poor work, and not following up on a complaint. I gave them an F on price because of the quality of the work we received for our money. I really don't know how their price compares with other companies.

They were very professional and showed up on time, but in the process of the same, they pinched the clips of these cables so hard that they tore the insulation. My previous insulation lasted for 10 years, but this one had them come back within 2 months. The person who came this time was different and he behaved as if he knew everything and was not willing to take my suggestions.

Ken's business was very responsive. Estimator was well informed and helpful. All work was very well done. Ken Lussenden's Company has worked for me for the last 25 years on a variety of projects in an older home. His workers are prompt, knowledgable and skillful. I have been very satisfied.

We use them a lot and they have been very responsive. They are very business-like and keep in touch and answer questions. They do a very good job and we are pleased with their work and how much it costs to perform that work. They are responsive and have met some deadlines when we had to squeeze in the work in between a couple of other contractors. Professionalism is probably their hallmark.

He does good work, is very expensive, and quotes you by the hour. They were just fine, they are just very pricey.

Initially it took a while to make contact (lots of voicemails either way) but we got there. The Good : 1. The quality of the work was exceptional. 2. The price was close to the original quote - pricing was clear from the outset and they kept a running log for me to review (nice touch) 3. The key guy who worked on my project was very pleasant, respectful and honest The Bad : 1. The guys were obviously working on other customer's projects and at times I had to call them to see when they would return (they should be calling me shouldn't they ?!!!) 2. The Van that was used had an oil leak and left several spots on the road - not nice Overall : If speed is not of the essence then these guys do a great job. Just get them to park their van up the road ... : )

They did a routine sort of thing for me recently. They worked well and it was satisfactory. It wasn’t a very elaborate thing. They have done things for us in the past, which have been okay. They have done the things that we had them over for. They seem to be easy to work with. They are quite pleasant. I am not rating them way down, but I don’t think they did an absolutely brilliant job. When it comes to their responsiveness, I called them and they did the job when I asked. I had waited for them and they didn’t do it immediately, but it wasn’t an emergency situation. So, it wasn’t something where a quick response was all that important. Their responsiveness was reasonable and they certainly responded. Their punctuality was okay, but it wasn’t really a thing where a fixed time was important. They hadn’t promised any specific time and they showed up in the range of time that they had indicated. Their professionalism was okay since they did the job. There wasn’t anything unprofessional about the job. Their price was okay. I didn’t try for competitive quotes; so I don’t really know what someone else would have charged. However, it wasn’t something for which there would have been a high charge since it was a routine sort of thing. There was certainly nothing wrong with what they did the last time. They did come back and check things over. I would probably use them again for suitable things.

It went very well. The exterior work required more caulking and attention than initially expected, and Lussenden provided this. Ken Lussenden Contracting provides services based on hourly rates, rather than an overall project fixed price. I believe this is the better approach because the necessary work was still done in a cost efficient manner but the contractor did not ignore necessary items in order to finish within initial time estimates used in determining a price. The painters showed up each day on time, were courteous and efficient. The did a high quality job and we are very pleased. We have used Ken Lussenden Contracting many times and will continue to do so. We have used other painters in the past, too, and I feel that Lussenden is the best.

While not the cheapest, they do excellent work and know how to deal with difficult surfaces and repairs. They are very responsive and assign a supervisor to the job who makes sure that the customer is satisfied and deals with any problems that might come up. I know I can depend on them to do quality work.

This was the latest in many projects done well for us by Ken Lussenden Contracting (Randy Cooley crew leader) over the past 25 years. I had scheduled Randy to do a touch-up recoating of the living & dining room oak hardwood floors for a time when we would be away for a few days. Ten days before that job was to start we learned we needed to have our tub / shower fixtures replaced also. Randy & Lussenden Contracting were able to perform the carpentry / plastering and ceramic tile tasks associated with the fixture replacement during the same four-working-day window that we would be away. Lussenden Contracting handled opening up a 2' wide x 6' high area of the 1920s vintage plaster and lath wall on the other side of the headwall of the tub to allow the plumber access to bath fixtures and shower head (and repairing it afterwards). They also removed & replaced 24 4x4 ceramic tile on the headwall where the new shower valve and tub spout would go. Randy and our plumber worked together to stage their respective demo, rough-in and finish tasks so that it all came together during our 4-working-day absence. We returned to find a top quality job virtually complete -- an hour's worth of touch up painting remained to be done the next day. Ken Lussenden Contracting earned my confidence to turn them loose on such a project while I was 1500 miles away by consistently performing top-quality renovation / painting projects over the past 25 years. I recommend Randy & Ken Lussenden Contracting highly and without hesitation.

Very professional and knowledgeable; easy to reach by phone. Longer than expected time on other jobs sometimes caused changes in our work's schedule but always contacted by phone to check as to whether OK.

Larry did the wood work and Omar's group did the painting. The workmanship was excellent. Larry knows how to interlace the shingles so as to prevent water from seeping in, particularly on the corners. Larry's work is simply tops. The work was done in a timely manner even though is was very cold outside. The job site was kept very clean.

Everyone I had contact with was helpful and polite. I think this was about the best experience I've had with a contractor in a long time.

I don't have anything to compare their price to. This project has been going on for the past eleven months and I am still using them.

The company exceeded the estimate significantly without completing the job so we finished it ourselves.

Overall things went very well. The ceiling/drywall work and painting needed less time or close to estimate. The hardwood floor work took a bit longer then the estimate (the estimator was not the installer). We were very satisfied with the project manager and workers. They were knowledgeable, easy to communicate with and they did a very high quality job.

Always on time, worked hard, did an excellent, skillful job in all ways, workers friendly and careful of landscape.

The work crew arrived on time every morning. They competently made the agreed upon repairs to our house, and very thoroughly prepared the surfaces for painting. We were very pleased with the results, and felt their price was fair. Throughout the project, the men were pleasant, courteous, and responsive to our wishes. They were very professional. I called Ken Lussenden Contracting to inquire about getting some drywall repaired. Quickly got a call back from the owner, who asked thoughtful questions to understand the scope of the job, and what materials and skills required. One area that I wanted repaired had some water- and mold-damage; I expected this would need an area of drywall removed and replaced. Ken indicated that depending on the extent of damage, the repair might only require cleaning and repainting. Ken had his office schedule the job just a day or two later. They scheduled the work, with my OK, to occur with some flexibility over a week depending on rain that would take them off of a larger outdoor painting project for another customer. A drywaller/painter named Adam handled the repairs. He inspected the area where we had some water/mold damage and recommended cleaning it with a bleach solution rather than tearing out and replacing the drywall. We had Adam take care of four other areas that needed some drywall work -- removing three built-in shoe racks that were recessed between the studs in the walls of three closets, plus sealing a hole in the kitchen ceiling from an abandoned hood vent. The previous owners had disguised that hole a duct diffuser rather than patch it when they renovated the kitchen. We asked Adam to take care of finding a paint color that would match these areas, and though he wasn't totally thrilled with that part of the job, he handled it with no problem. Communications were good, quality of work, and cleanup all good. The work spanned three or four days and Adam supplied a detailed log of hours, and materials cost each day with a running total -- no surprises on cost at the end of the project. I was very satisfied with this project.

We have worked with Ken Lussenden Contracting for several year. Our experience with them for a number of different kinds of projects (interior and exterior painting, carpentry, general maintenance) has been uniformly outstanding. Ken, who has been in the business for almost 40 years, and his supervisors are extremely knowledgeable. Their goal, which we share, is the long-term quality maintenance of our home. The work crews are consistently timely, responsible. friendly and incredibly neat. (The worksite is cleaned at the end of every day, and they were often cleaning areas that we thought were already completely clean.) The work is done to a very high professional level; everything is done perfectly the first time. They will come right back out if anything isn't perfect. They are not the least expensive group in town, but they provide the most consistent and fair value.

We had the good fortune to be introduced to services offered by Ken Lussenden Contracting Co. From the very initial contact they were very reliable and accurate in their estimated work time. The crew that worked in our house for over a week were professional and the quality of their work was outstanding. They went above and beyond what we were expecting and feel we got great value for the money we spent. We would highly recommend them and will use them again for future projects.

Our overall experience with Ken Lussenden Contracting has been very satisfactory. From start to finish they pay attention to the smallest detail and leave the work site spotless.

Ken - the owner - visited the site and helped us define what was really needed. We ended up spending less than 1/2 what we had expected. His office staff, crew leader (Jamie Schmitt) and crew were professional, courteous, and highly competent. I worked on a painting crew when I was in college, and so I know good work when I see it, and this was an exceptionally good job. We are planning more exterior work next summer, and we will use Ken. We'll also consider him for upcoming interior remodeling jobs.
