It was very late in the season due to carpentry work that needed to be completed, replacing a lot of the wood siding on the house, and my difficulty with deciding on the color I wanted. Once the repairs were done and the color decided, it took them about 2 weeks to get to my project. The Crew chief, Chris Daly, was wonderful through the whole process, and his crew did a very good job. I would not want to work with anyone else. They really knew their business and were very helpful with information and suggestions.

Response from Elysium Painting Company
Hello again. Thank you for posting this review, especially since it's been so long since we completed your project last summer. I really appreciate you giving us an A grade in Price, Punctuality, and Professionalism. I really appreciate your feedback. I've never had a complaint before about your particular painter in the 3 years he's been with us so this is very odd. I'm sorry to see you gave him a C in Quality and Responsiveness. Please let me know if there's anything you would like me to do to make you happier - our goal is a wonderful experience for every client and I truly appreciate your time and the work.

Elysium offered Angie?s List members a ?Big Deal?--8 hours of wallpaper removal and/or painting for $199. Evidently they were counting on everyone signing up for the deal to hire them for additional work (painting) at their regular rate. But that wasn?t mentioned in the ?deal,? and I didn?t plan on hiring additional work done. I'm retired and on a budget, and was stretching that budget as it was just signing up for the ?Deal?. I did consider a quote from them on some painting, but it it was way beyond my budget--I couldn't swing it. The man that came to remove wallpaper was used to doing big flat hallways and walls in office buildings and such. He wasn?t used to working on small kitchens with lots of corners and crannies. The kitchen wallpaper was stubborn. I suggested using a steamer, but the man didn't have one. In fact, he had never used one. After about 5 hours it became evident he wouldn't finish the kitchen, let alone the bedroom, with the method he was using. He needed a steamer. I called Elysium to see if we could get a steamer from them. Turns out that the workers provide their own materials and equipment, and are on their own. The man I spoke to on the phone was unsympathetic. Said I was lucky they were able to find anyone to do the 8-hour "Big Deal" for what they would end up being paid. So, I went out and rented a steamer out of my own pocket. I worked along with him using the steamer for about an hour, then turned the steamer over to him. It went much faster with the steamer, but he still didn't finish the kitchen. When 8-hours were up, he packed up and left, with 20-25% of the wallpaper still up. I finished the removal after he left so I could return the steamer. I found some gouges in the wall, and a lot bottom layers of of paper on the part he had worked on. And, of course, tons of wallpaper paste had to be washed off. I was really surprised at the bad job that was done, and the bad attitude of the company, because Elysium had mostly good reviews and Angie's List. If I'd been able to hire them do do painting and additional work, they might have done a better job. I'll never know; I won't hire them again.

I remember you! Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience after so long. I'm new as the General Manger and your feedback helps me make decisions about how this company is run. Actually, I have replaced the man you spoke to in the office that was "unsympathetic" because of how your project was handled! I greatly apologize for your experience and am just as surprised as you are about the situation as this is definitely not typical as you can see from all our other glowing reviews. Situations like this almost never happen at Elysium, because we take so much time and care when hiring each new crew member. Unfortunately, even the best screening processes sometimes fail and I have to admit that the painter who did you work, Darell, did not meet our high standards of customer service and workmanship. He is no longer with the company as a direct result of what happened with your project. Your project was one of the first and few projects Darrell did for us before he was let go. This is intolerable to me and I have done my absolute best to make sure the scenario is never repeated again. I am personally so sorry for the inconveniences caused to you. I will make sure that quality is uniform throughout the company and every customer experience. If ever you need anything, please feel free to contact me directly and I will take care of you personally. I would love the opportunity to show you the changes I have made and win you back! Thank you so much for your business and your time. Please feel free to contact me directly for anything at all at any time. Jessica Staton General Manager 734-660-8206

i````````````````````````````````````````````````` Hank and Eric arrived on time and spent a bit of time surveying the walls and determining where to begin. We had already removed all furnishings except for the TV cabinet and a bookcase that is 7-8 feet tall. Those two items were the most difficult to move - so we scooted them into the center of the great room. Hank & Eric began by covering all furniture, floors, and light fixtures, kitchen cabinets, kitchen appliances, and counter tops with plastic sheeting. Then they began the process of repairing, adding drywall screws (probably close to 100 screws) - and plastering over the top of each screw - Eric took care of the repairing and re-screwing - while Hank began painting the edges of the ceiling. By lunchtime - they took a break and left for lunch. We turned on the fans and advanced the thermostat to help dry the plaster. After lunch both painters began painting the ceiling. While Eric rolled the ceiling Hank started cutting in the trim on the walls. They have painted together for so many years that they really don't need to talk much - they know how to proceed and were very efficient. At the end of day one the ceiling was finished and the first coat of paint for the walls was completed. They removed the plastic protection for paint/plaster speckles from the ceiling - cleaned up their rollers and brushes - covered the paint containers and promised to return the next AM to apply the 2nd coat of paint to the walls and do the feature wall. Early Friday AM we received an early call from Eric explaining that the roads were quite icy - and their drive time would be longer. We cleared out the garage so they could park their van in the garage - it was actively snowing and quite wet and sloppy. Both painters helped us to draw a line on the feature wall - it took some finessing - our walls are not as straight as we'd like - so we had to cheat a bit. Hank and Eric were a bit uncertain about the colors for the feature wall and wanted to be certain that I was comfortable with my color selections before they began trimming that wall. Hank stood on his tippy toes and painted both left handed and right handed - drawing the straightest and most beautiful lines. We were very impressed - and a bit scared he would topple off the ladder. While Hank finished trimming the feature wall - Eric finished rolling the other walls and then rolled paint on the feature wall following Hank's trim. They turned the ceiling fan on to dry the feature wall - went to lunch at Taco Bell - and returned to add the 2nd coat to the feature wall. Then - we all took several steps backward to assess the painted walls - and admire their work. All of us loved the finished product and agreed that the colors were perfect. Hank and Eric began cleaning up all the tarps, brushes, paint pails, etc. After clean-up Chris stopped by with the bill and asked us to complete a Post Project survey . We were more than happy to do that - Our comments on the survey summarize our experience: Hank & Eric, very talented, very particular, highly professional, extraordinary talent! We highly recommend their work!
Description of Work: We contracted with Elysium Painting to repair and paint our Great Room vaulted ceiling & adjoining feature wall in the kitchen/dining area plus the connecting walls ( which were over 8 feet high.) Our home was completed in Dec. 2011 and the vaulted ceiling began showing separation and drywall tape peeling within months. Our builder hired his subcontractor to return on our 1 yr. Anniversary to make repairs to the walls and ceiling. The plasterer worked from 8 AM - 8PM repairing, re-plastering, sanding, and restoring the joint in the ceiling. We knew we needed highly skilled professional painters to assess which parts of the ceiling needed additional dry wall screws for support. We also asked about ways we could camouflage all the newly repaired and plastered areas. Chris Daly assured us that he would send his most skilled and particular painters for the job - Eric and Hank. Chris made notes for his painters. He indicated which brand / finish of paint (Sherwin Williams) would work best and which type of roller/s (lambs wool) would help to hide the repaired vault seam and newly added dry wall screws. He assured us that Hank and Eric would be a perfect match for the job. We didn't negotiate for price because we wanted the very best painters. The job required experienced and careful workers to both repair and paint.. [ All interior walls and ceilings had been spray/painted with a primer coat of ' Antique White' ] Our job required both skilled carpenters and highly skilled painters.

Would not recommed them even though their write -up on Angie's list sound impressive.
Description of Work: No services were performed because Pat Grimes, the individual who they told me would be providing an estimate, never showed up, nor did he call. I called twice while waiting at home and had to leave messages both times as they do not seem to return phone calls until the next day. Very poor way of handling a business especially when a person takes off work to be there.

Good Morning, I greatly apologize for your experience and was just as surprised as you are about the situation as this is definitely *not* typical. I will make sure that serious disciplinary action is taken with the estimator, as this is intolerable to me as a business owner and I will do my absolute best to make sure the scenario is never repeated again. I am sorry for the inconveniences caused to you, and would love the opportunity to make it right. We all lead busy lives and I know that your time is valuable! I regret that I was in a meeting when you called that afternoon and did not get your message until the next day, but I did call you as soon as I got the message and offer to reschedule whenever was best for you. If ever you need anything, please feel free to contact me directly and I will have a different estimate come out to help you. I am also have to offer you a free color consultation as a token of my sincere regrets that we missed the first appointment. Thank you so much for your feedback and your time. I wish you the very best with your project. Jessica Staton Manager

Crew was professional and experienced. House & deck look great. We received 3 bids on the job from different companies. Elysium's bid was the middle bid in terms of price, but they offered a better guarantee and had better reviews, and I liked the family-friendly policy. (Our friends had painters from another company blasting music and swearing up a storm all day long). We have small children and big dogs, and they were very courteous about us coming and going from the house, and about letting the dogs in the yard for bathroom breaks. They cleaned up all debris and materials, and came back to touch up some areas that needed it. Our start date was pushed back by 2 weeks due to weather and other issues. They were upfront about this, and Chris was available by cell anytime. We would use them again.
Description of Work: We hired Elysium to paint the entire exterior of house (siding, brick, concrete, trim, etc.) and repaint our deck.

Well hello again! It's been quite some time since we painted your exterior last summer - thank you for remembering us and taking the time to post this wonderful review. I am so happy to see you're thrilled with our work. Grade A across the board puts a great big smile on everyone in the office. As the Manager of the company and a mother of 4, "Family Friendly" is very close to my heart and I'm glad we met your expectations. Long live the job! Jessica Staton Manager 734-660-8206

Overall, the quality was outstanding! The lines between colors/walls were impeccable, very thorough and detailed paint work. All the people I met and spoke with were fantastic and personable. The end price seemed on the high side so while I would consider them on another job and include them in the quote process, I would likely bias towards giving another Angie's List A-rated company a chance in an attempt for a better price. The estimate seemed to be well done, and was the middle one of the 3 estimates I obtained. (I didn't get the idea that the lowest priced contractor could meet our timing.) However, in the end, it was under-estimated by ~$1650 due to some areas needing additional coats of paint. It is possible this would have occured with another company, but difficult to tell. I LOVE the end result so that's something to keep in mind. Some of the company practices were odd, but not a show-stopper. For example, I received a 'Thank you' before the work started. Also, I was called and asked post-job questions 2 days before the job was complete. I was also asked to pay for the job before it was complete (by 2 days as it turned out). It ended up being Ok, but it seemed odd to me.
Description of Work: Painted ceiling, trim and walls of ~2,000 square foot in a home that was empty of furniture/flooring/people living at home. Work included caulking cracks, minor wall sanding prep and floating out a bad tape line.

Good afternoon! Thanks for taking the time to post this review. It took me a while to realize who you were because I had always spoken with your wife. I'm so glad you love the work Chris and his crew did for you. Regarding the "odd" thank you card you received before we started work, we sent a hand written thank you to each home owner to has out out to give them a free estimate. So the card was a thank you for the opportunity to give you an estimate, not for the work we performed itself. So here's another great big THANK YOU for having us out to do your project! We hope to hear from you in the future. Happy Spring! Jessica Staton Manager 734-660-8206

They started the job a 1-2 weeks later than scheduled because the previous client added several rooms to their job at the last minute. Because of this they had to rush through my job as I planned to go out of town within a couple of weeks. They started my job with only 2 workers as the others were still on the previous job and they also had workers out for various reasons. The next week we had up to six people working and getting in each others' way. I specifically asked them not to paint the trim near my new motorized blinds but they did anyway and dripped paint on all four blinds. They tried to take them out for cleaning but this failed and the blinds had to be replaced. Their insurance company paid for all except $250 of it. I wanted to order the blinds through my decorator again so I could get exactly the same kind, but too late. They had already ordered through another company and they turned out to be not exactly the same. I had to spend a lot of time in phone calls with Elysium's representative Christopher Daly, his insurance agent, my decorator and Elysium's choice of blinds installer. It took 2 months to receive payment from the insurance and almost 3 months to have the new blinds installed. As if this weren't enough, the painters also dropped a steel cabinet on my 6 year old natural walnut floor creating a big gouge. Chris promised to send a floor expert to repair it but this hasn't happened. I withheld $1000 in payment at the end of the job pending completion of repairs. However I had to pay $250 of this towards the insurance deductible. The amount estimated for materials was $1000 to $1500, but they ended up charging me $2048.00 and did not show me the receipts. The paint job overall was acceptable but they did leave drops on the carpet, woodwork and wood floors and missed some spots.
Description of Work: Because of their A rating on Angie's List I hired this company to paint most of the interior of my house.

Good morning! Thank you for taking the time to write in about your experience. Feedback is always welcome, but we do wish you’d called the office to let us know you were frustrated at the time of service. We can almost always make clients 100% happy if they let us know how they truly feel right away. I did take some time to review your project with your Project Manager and go through your account records. It seems that when your Project Manager Chris explained that his previous client wanted to add on additional rooms, and asked you if it was ok if we push your start date back a couple weeks, you said it was fine as long as the job could be done before you left the country. That gave us 2 .5 weeks to complete the job, which was more than enough time with additional time required if needed. Chris was unaware of your frustration. Please understand a prep crew of 2 guys to start the job is standard procedure on jobs of this size. This is our "prep phase", during which time 2-3 experienced drywall experts spend a day or 2 to patch, prep, and get all the walls and trim ready for paint application.Once that is completed, the full crew arrives to apply paint. The application crew also combs all areas for any drywall repairs that may have been missed, and then applies the finish. Your home is very large, and there were several rooms being painted, so 6 guys in a 4000 square ft home should have been a good ratio. As promised, we did work consecutive days until the job was finished. The paint drip on the blinds occurred while painting the ceilings above them. We had the blinds covered with plastic sheeting, but a corner of the plastic fell down during the process, and it was 1 big drip that hit all 4 of the "vertical" blinds. This was an honest human mistake, for which Chris took responsibility. He immediately tried to take them down and clean them, but the fabric was so porous that his attempts were ineffective. Then Chris called numerous blind cleaning companies to try and fix the situation, and brought the blinds to them to have them cleaned. The company also failed at their attempts. At that point, Chris called the insurance company to replace the blinds. Yes, blinds took longer than expected to come in, and the insurance company took a long time with the process of things, but we all know insurance claims take time. Chris was on the phone with you, the blind company, and the insurance company every other day demanding the process get done fast, to try to help with the unfortunate event. As you know, your home is filled with lovely, heavy furniture. While attempting to move a filling cabinet for you, it slipped off a slider and put about a 3 inch scratch impression in the wood floor. We attempted to fix the scratch, but it did not pass Chris’s inspection. He immediately called the best floor refinishers he knows, but nobody could make the prompt scheduling your traveling schedule demanded. In order to meet the tight deadline, Chris found a new flooring person and I approved it with you before scheduling the repair and you accepted. Unfortunately, the floor guy never showed up on the dates he said he would, and ended up not returning any of our phone calls. At this point you had to leave the country, and the repair is now on hold. Every job that Elysium painting does gets a thorough walk through with the Crew Leader and homeowner upon collection of the final check. Chris did a walk through with you prior to your trip, and you didn’t express any concerns at that time. The plan was for you to contact Chris when you returned from your trip, and work together to find just the right guy for the floor repair. Chris did call you, but the call was not returned and this is the first we are hearing from you since you left! Chris is still more than happy to continue where we left off. He truly had no idea you were this frustrated. Chris is available directly at 810-923-6131.

Really strange experience. I called Elysium for wallpaper removal but didn't leave a message. The same morning I called a number of different contractors from Angies list for a couple different project. A little while later someone called me back from Elysium. The man introduced himself and said he was calling back from ASYLUM. I asked him to repeat because I didn't remember calling a company named Asylum. He again said Asylum. I asked if they were on Angies list. He didn't know. I asked what kind of work they did (since I called a few different contractors for a couple different projects). He listed a variety of things. Finally he said "Oh Elysium not Asylum". He said he misread it and that he answers the phone for a variety of different companies. Huge turnoff. No quote given. No service performed. P.S. They have a $500 project minimum. Understandable and reasonable, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Hello Member, Thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback - it's really important to us! We're currently trying a new answering service, so if we're on the phone with another client, you can still get a live person to help you right away instead of waiting on hold or leaving a voice mail. We are testing the answering service just this month to see if the prospective clients that call in prefer leaving a message and getting called back by an expert, or getting a general scheduler to set an appointment right away. Of course, we prefer to have an expert like myself answer all the calls as they come in, but with our busy season starting, we occasionally have more incoming calls than we can pick up. I am especially thankful for your feedback because it helps me decide whether home owners prefer to wait for an expert, or get basic help immediately. If you'd like to speak with me directly, I'm sure I can answer all of your questions. Please feel free to call my direct cell at 734-660-8206 any time. I'd the chance to work with you! Thanks again, Jessica

Elysium's service was exceptional from the start. Their scheduler, estimator, painters and interior decorator were great to work with. Fast workers with great communication. Given I don't have much time and experience in painting or decoration, I had Elysium come up with an interior design. It looks excellent, much better than I could have imagined. Top notch company with top notch people. I highly recommend their services.

Elysium had their work cut out for them as all of the walls, trim, and ceilings of a home I was renovating needed to be stripped of wallpaper, some holes patched, and a coat of paint applied. I had them provide color schemes as well as I do not have an eye for color. The estimator was very nice and respectful. The quote was great and the service was fast and professional. The painters were super friendly, respectful, and hard working. Would use them again in a heartbeat. Thanks!

Company was very responsive and contacted me within 24 hours of purchasing the Big Deal. The estimator was easy to schedule with, for two working adults in the house. He gave a written estimate on the spot, later confirmed via email. The main difficulty we had was with scheduling the painting. There was some confusion about the date that it would start, but all conversation was mainly via email (my constraints - as making phone calls during regular buisness hours is next to impossible). We had thought that they would start on the outside, as we had to move furniture on the inside, but on Day 1, the people that arrived had no knowledge of the outside work. The lead person who arrived on Day 1 was the person that I had been told it would be, and he was very courteous and apologetic. As I had to run to work, we agreed that he would speak to his supervisors and be ready for tomorrow. They had no name badges or items to identify them as belonging to this company, and their van was also unmarked. This was not a huge deal, but just something I like to see; it makes me more comfortable. I contacted the office and they were also apologetic. Everything was taken care of and they were able to start outside on Day 2. We did not know when they were going to start on the inside for certain, but everything else went smoothly. They were prompt, neat and courteous throughout. They did paint some trim in the kitchen and along the baseboards, because it "needed it." With only one coat of paint, there were a few spots where they did not quite get to the edge of the trim. They were willing to do touchup if we needed it, but we declined, as we had a family emergency to deal with. They did leave us the extra cans of paint. Unlike when we moved into the house, there was little to no side-splatters either inside or outside. Despite the few issues, this is probably the best painting experience that we have had over the years (having used three other painters in various locations), and will likely use them again if we decide to do the rest of the inside. The outside wood work was beautifully done, no new paint on the gutters, and the new wood peices they put in blended flawlessly. You wouldn't even notice unless you got up close.
Description of Work: - All outside wood trim cleaned, washed and prepped for re-painting. Siding and surrounding areas also power washed. Rotted wood areas cut out and new pieces put in place. Repainted. - Inside walls of main hallways, stairs, kitchen, and living room painted with "one coat of paint" Big Deal. No trim. Also paid to have dinning room and downstairs bathroom painted, no trim.

We have worked with Elysium one time in the past, and based on the experience decided to utilize them again. The company representative Chris was very friendly and flexible to set up the initial consultation and quote. From there, we determined a good time frame for us to have the painters come in. For us it was important to have the job done before the holidays, and the crew even worked on Saturday to make it happen! I would not trust many people in our house without being home as well, but I never felt uncomfortable with the crew working here unattended. They were communicative and responsive at all times, which was much appreciated. The finished product looks amazing and is truly a transformation! With it being such a large job, I did ask the question "what happens if we walk through and begin to find any necessary touch ups?". Chris quickly assured me that as long as we let him know within the next couple of weeks, they would be happy to come in and touch anything up free of charge that wasn't up to our expectations. In the future, I would only make sure there were more details included on the contract when it is first drawn up, as we had quite a gap of time between the estimate and when the actual work began (our choice), which left a few question marks for us to resolve (i.e. what exactly was included in the quote). Regardless, Chris worked through that with us and accommodated all our initial requests within the initial quote provided. I would highly recommend working with Elysium, and will do so again in the future when the need arises!
Description of Work: All first floor oak trim was painted white, vaulted ceilings and walls were painted as well.

Thank you for posting and Happy Holidays! We really appreciate your returning business. It's always been a pleasure working with your family and we are so pleased to have been able to transform your home before the holidays. I'm so pleased to hear you are 100% satisfied with your project and have passed your review on to your Crew Leader Chris. He's one of my favorite painters, too. I also let him know how much clients really need extremely detailed estimates so everyone knows exactly what is included in the quote. We'll look forward to hearing from you in the future. Happy Holidays, Jessica General Manager 734-660-8206

The company was prompt, the painters very wonderful men...I really cannot say enough good about the actual painters. They are very careful with your house, and they do a marvelous job. However, for reasons beyond our control, we had to delay the final coat and touch-ups. The estimator, Chris, was supposed to get back with us. I called him in June, we set up a date, but I had to cancel. Chris was again supposed to call me back to reschedule as this work had already been paid. In September, I called back, and Chris now denied the work was paid, and told me he would get back with me after Labor Day. Well...it is now December, and lo and behold, he has never called. We just had someone else finish it and did not feel like arguing with Chris over the money. We have decks and other things which need done, and someone else will have the pleasure of that business. This was money we had saved and saved to get this done, so it is a little sad that Chris did not care more about it than this. If you have them do the job, get them to finish while they are there. They are punctual, professional and wonderful guys, but once gone...well, I guess they are gone!

Thank you for taking the time to write. I'm glad you were so happy with our painters and craftsmanship in general. I am genuinely sorry you found it difficult to get Chris to return to complete the work after you asked us to reschedule. As you know, we book clients months in advance, and we promise not to leave a job until it is completed (except in your case, where you had circumstances that led you to ask us to delay the work originally.) So once Chris left your job when you asked him to put it on hold, he moved to the next scheduled client. I apologize for the delay, and if you'd like to speak to Chris directly he can be reached at 810-923-6131 or chris.daly.elysium@gmail.com. Thanks again for your business and your time, and happy holidays! Jessica General Manager 734-660-8206

we purchased the 'big deal' to have this job completed. the work was completed in one visit and the work area was cleaned. a representative from elysium came to our home shortly after we purchased the 'big deal' and took a look at the job and also gave us a quote on having the room painted. he was very pleasant and answered all of our questions. unfortunately the quote for painting was more than we wanted to spend so we stuck with only scheduling the wallpaper removal covered the the 'big deal'. it took quite a while to have the work scheduled and the date of service had to be changed a few times. my understanding is that elysium hired another company or contract workers to complete the 'big deal' work for them. this seemed to cause some of the difficulty in scheduling. it was fine as we were not in a hurray. at any rate, the wallpaper was all removed within about three hours (the 'big deal' was for 8 hours or 2 men for 4 hours - we got one person). i was hoping since we still had time left in our alloted 8 hours that the walls would have been repaired a bit more. as is typical with wallpaper removal they were pretty damaged. in all fairness however we were told only minor wall damage would be repaired so perhaps the damage was considered too extensive and out of the scope of what was covered. overall we were satisfied with the work and the price and definitely happy to say 'goodbye' to the 80's wallpaper.
Description of Work: we had the wallpaper in our laundry room removed (it's a very tiny room). it was a pretty straightforward job but being a laundry room the washer and dryer had to be worked around and moved as necessary.

Hello again! Thank you for taking the time to post a review, especially since the work was completed a while ago. We really appreciate your fair and detailed feedback. I am sorry it took us a while to start your wallpaper removal - we were pleasantly surprised but a little overwhelmed by the huge response to our Big Deal coupons! Thank you again for your patience. I'm so happy you are pleased with the end result. Happy Holidays, and enjoy your 80s wallpaper-less laundry room! Thanks again, Jessica Staton

good start - estimator here day after buying Angie's List special in June approved very clear and detailed estimate with only variable being quantity of paint & supplies required to complete job that made for a balance due - based on estimates using highest quality paint money paid from our account the following day phone contact the following week for "thank you - will contact you" I made the next contact in early AUGUST - finally speaking with scheduler a week later Painters were here the date that was set Had some discussion with company about final balance due because we requested a lower quality paint than was used to make estimate and therefore lowered the balance due. A fair credit was issued. Just didn't think I should have been the one to point this out. Men who did the painting did an excellent job!
Description of Work: power washing of exterior to be painted removal of gutters and caulking significant areas great prep work of taping off and protecting areas not to be painted trim paint applied to door and window frames - 2 coats 2 coats sprayed on exterior siding touch up and attaching gutters perfect clean up before leaving siding appears brand new - beautiful job

My initial experience with the salesperson was disappointing and confusing. He didn?t add 2 walls to the quote and I assumed he had which caused confusion with the person I spoke to on the telephone. When I use them again, I will specifically ask for Denny to accompany the salesperson so I know exactly what I am dealing with financially. Denny found extensive damage from the previous home owners when he stripped the old wallpaper. His repair of the walls and subsequent painting is what I call a real ?Craftsman?. I?ve been a homeowner for 30 years and I know the difference between a paint job and the work of a ?Craftsman?. Every day before leaving for the night, Denny cleaned the area thoroughly.

8090 Springwater Dr.I just moved to a new house and needed the walls completely redone, because the existing paint was pretty old and needed a lot of retouching. Elysium was great to work with- the contractor, Jose, was really careful about making sure he didn?t get paint on anything, and they showed up exactly at 9 as promised. I?d definitely work with them again if I need anything else done, I?m so happy with how everything?s turned out.

A few days before my scheduled service, the company called with a reminder message, so I thought everything was "a go". But no one showed up to do the work on my scheduled day. When I phoned (repeatedly), no one answered the phone. Finally, I phoned the salesman (who had come out to give me an estimate on painting the kitchen after this wallpaper removal job was done). He told me that the worker who was supposed to do my wallpaper removal had been fired earlier in the week. He was surprised that no one had called me, and said that he'd have the scheduler call me back immediately. Most of the morning went by. I continued to call the main office but only got the answering machine. I finally called the salesman back. He again said he would have the scheduler call immediately. Finally I did get a call from the scheduler who guaranteed me that he would have the job scheduled within 24 hours. Well, that didn't happen. I let a few days go by and then called them again, this time asking to speak to the owner. He refused to talk to me. The scheduler then took the call and arranged for a work team to come out later that week. The work team was pretty good. The wallpaper in the kitchen was tough to get off, but they got most of it. I had to wash down the walls to get the remaining small pieces and the glue, though. However, when the worker got to the bedroom, he told me that I had contact paper on the walls and he wouldn't remove it. Luckily, I had some extra wallpaper in storage to show him that it wasn't contact paper at all. He removed just the top (vinyl) layer and told me to just paint over the remaining paper layer that was still stuck on the wall. Since he had been there longer than the eight man-hours that I'd paid for, I let him go home and removed the rest myself. (It wasn't hard to remove what was left and I knew I'd have to clean up the job, like I did in the kitchen, anyway. It was a bad experience. It wasn't the bargain that I hoped for. I certainly won't use this company to do my painting now.

Hi Customer, Thank you for sharing your experience and for being so detailed. It's important to us to know these things so we can always be improving! I am so sorry for your experience and really take it personally. This is definitely not typical - we're known for our awesome customer service! Every project manager and team within Elysium regularly gets rave reviews and when we do find a client who is unhappy in any way, I take it seriously. As you know, we lost one of our Crew Leaders without notice during the same week our Lead Project Manager was on vacation and it caused a few hours of scrambling on our part. That meant it took us longer than usual to respond to your call and for that I am so very sorry! Thank you giving us high marks for Price, Professionalism, and Quality in spite of the last minute staffing problems that caused a delay in your project - I really appreciate it. We'd love the chance to do more work for you and show you our Punctuality and Responsiveness is typically top notch! Thanks again, and have a wonderful weekend, Jessica Staton General Manager

The inital contact with them was fabulous. They returned calls quickly and came out for the estimate quickly, kept in touch with us while we got other estimates. Pat was great, he did our estimate and we were extreamly happy with him. In fact we decide to go with them because of Pat, and the service so far was great. It stopped be great right there, I called to schedule the work and spoke with Lori. She advised me that she didn't have a copy of our estimate, but that it was standard to leave a deposit. I was at work and didn't have a copy of our estimate with me so we agreed on a $1,000.00 deposit. She told me someone would call to schedule our time. We were going to be on vacation for a week and I let her know that we wouldn't be home till then. While on vacation I forgot that we were waiting on a call, until two weeks after that. When I did call them to see when they would be out I got an answering machine that said calls would be returned in 24 hours. Two days later I hadn't heard back so I called again, this time I mentioned that they had already taken a deposit from me. After another day with no call, I called them back and this time I was pretty angry and let them know that they had my $1,000.00 and that I expected a call back the same day (which was a Friday). By Sunday when we hadn't received a call my husband got upset and called Pat's cell phone. That worked because a couple hours later we got a call from Jessica, who appologized for the delay, and told us she would get us scheduled and emailed us everything. A little later in the day we got a call from Pat, and a call from Wes who was going to be the project manager. As the date approached the project manager kept in touch with us to let us know what was going on. I was very happy with that and with Jessica. My husband took time off the morning the work started to meet with the manager and to discusse and point out some of our problem areas, and it seemed like we were on the right track again. When I got home that night, I was less than impressed with the work that had been done so far. A couple of the areas that we had pointed out to Pat and Wes as being rotted or suspect hadn't been replaced. I was really angry when we touched one of the areas and my husbands finger went through the wood, because it was rotted. My husband convinced me not to call that night to wait and see what was done the next day. He even took time off work twice on the second day to talk to the crew at our house. The first time was in the morning after they arrived, he pointed the areas of concern out and was told by the painters that they would let their manager know when he got to our house. The second was after his lunch when he stopped by to see if they had been corrected. They hadn't been and he was assured by the painters they it would be. When my husband got home from work he check and none of the issues that he had pointed out had been taken care of. Once I got home we called and left a message asking to be contacted. we did get a call back quickly and my husband and I spoke with them about our concerns. Someone came out that night to look at the trouble, and someone else came out the next night to correct it. When they contacted my husband and I about payment I waited to call them back since I hadn't had a chance to look at the work in the day light yet. My husband set up a time for us to take care of the payment, and paperwork. I don't think of myself as picky, or unreasonable, I do expect that if an issue is brought to your attention that it be handled, without my having to contact someone else. While everything did end up being corrected and I am satisfied with the job done, I am unhappy with the fact that multiple calls were placed to get a start date, (after they had taken my $1,000.00 deposit), and that multiple calls were placed to get the job done in the manor it should be.
Description of Work: Hired to replace rotted wood trim and to paint same around the exterior of our house. They came out powerwashed the trim and some of the house. They also scrapped a few areas of loose paint, remove and replace rotted areas, and then paint the entire trim.

Hi Member, I hope you and Other Memebr are enjoying this beautiful fall weekend! Thank you again for your business, and for telling us in detail what you did and didn't like about your project. I read your review in detail and shared it with everyone in the company - it's important to me to correct things like this right away! You're right, you're not a picky or unreasonable person. Your concerns were all valid and I'm glad in the end we were able to give you the high quality job you deserve and you are happy with our work. I'm so sorry it took multiple calls to get that accomplished and am happy to tell you I have fixed the problem! Thanks to your feedback and a couple of calls from others we realized we were having trouble with our call forwarding system and the consequence was voice mails were not forwarded correctly. We've since switched to AT&T for our phones and voice mail and haven't had a problem since! Please let us know how the job is holding up over time - I'm sure you'll be pleased. We stand by our work and I'm here personally for any future questions or concerns - I included my direct cell number below for you. Jessica Staton General Manager 734-660-8206

I hired Elysium to help paint my new apartment this summer. The dining room had old wall paper that just had to go and I needed the two bedrooms and the dining room painted. Jess came over to my apartment and brought many different swatches to help me decide on the final color scheme of the rooms. She was greatly enthusiastic and showed a great interest in my project. It took a couple weeks to get a time work out between my schedule and theirs, but when we got a time worked out they were in and out in what seemed like no time flat. The workers were all very friendly and professional throughout the job and the rooms turned out looking great. There was a bit of a mess on the carpet from shoes, but overall they kept the apartment very clean while they worked.

Overall, the services went very well. I worked with Chris to help plan out the work that needed to be done. I had planned on getting the interior walls of the first floor of my house painted already; the kitchen, living room, hallway, and bathroom, but when discussing the colors and the estimations decided upon also repainting the trim and molding and the doorways. This decision to work on more of the trim of the house really brought the rooms together and completed the look. Overall the workers kept a very professional appearance while they worked, kept my house clean, and completed everything in a very timely manner.
