Elysium Painting Company

I recently moved to an older house by Northside that needed repainting super badly and had some rotten siding. David came out to see my house himself, and was very friendly and excited about the job. There was a bit of a wait (apparently it's busy season) after the quote but in the end everything looked great and the crew was very professional. Some paint did get on the driveway, but they cleaned that up immediately.

We were disappointed that we got the whole family out of the house for a week so the remediation could get done-and they started late, only notifing us that they would be starting late with an email the night before. By the time they were working we were all back in there with our three small kids. Communication was a real problem at the beginning of the job but it did improve after we addressed with the painters. Once the guys were painting they did a fantastic job. The house looks amazing. The job was taking longer than they wanted it to, but they didn't cut corners. However, the customer service was not good enough for such an expensive job. We hired them because we thought they would be the best at the lead remediation but it was incredibly low-tech.

I had Elysium out to repaint several rooms in my new home, and they just completed the job several days earlier. I took the emailed invoice home to sign and pay tonight, I'm very happy with the painting-- Darrell did an excellent job. They should definitely hang onto him. As others have mentioned, the customer service is great. I appreciated being able to be in contact with the office as well as the contractors throughout the entire time they were working on my house.

We have a fairly old house on the west side of Ann Arbor, and needed our garage done. We'd hired Elysium to do our house last year, and were so happy with the result we wanted the garage and gutters done to match. Everything looks great, and the crew was ultra professional--no mess!

I loved the customer service I got when painting with Elysium. Not only does my house look great, they were extremely easy to work with. We initially had a bit of confusion, because I had to reschedule my quote and they’re very busy during summer, but Jess was very professional and accommodating. They offered me color consults as well, which I didn’t need, but seemed like a good option. I felt well taken care of throughout the entire process, I’d definitely hire them again.

First of all, we did not use Elysium to paint the exterior of our house. And that is thanks to their poor customer service. It was 2 weeks before we even got an appointment, because they are very busy. That was not a problem with us because they had such good reviews. However, when we met with the estimator, Darrell, we had a different experience. He was friendly and professional, and we discussed painting options for our house. We mentioned a coupon on Angie's List for $1,500 to paint the exterior after he quoted us over $2,000 and he said he knew nothing about the coupon. He told us he would contact us about the coupon and for when to set up a date to paint. That was 7/21/12. He never called us. We called him since we did not hear back and he never returned our call. By then a few days had passed and the coupon disappeared. When we finally got a hold of him after a 3rd attempt, about a week later, we asked if he would honor the coupon since he saw it. He again said he would get back to us, and never did. When we got a hold of him, Monday 7/30, he said that they would not honor it, after all that time. We would have paid the couple hundred dollars in difference since we heard good things about this company. However, this experience with the estimator, the lack of responsiveness, the fact that they won't honor their own coupon, we simply do not want to do business with them. We've wasted a lot of time, for nothing.

They arrived for estimate at the agreed time. Explained very thing clearly. Promptly sent a packet containing an itemized estimate and also including the history of the company, products used and plenty of references. They were the high bidder but agreed to do some additional work (drywall repairs and window cleaning) to bring their price in line with estimates from other companies. They arrived to start job on date and time agreed upon. They arrived everyday by 9 am, worked continuously through the day only breaking for lunch, until 5. They were professional, polite and responsive. They also cleaned up everyday before they left. Our house looks GREAT and we would CERTAINLY use Elysium Painting again.

Elysium was very professional and helpful, explaining exactly what was going to be done and making sure they had my approval before continuing ahead with any work. I especially appreciated the color consult-- it helped me figure out which stain to pick when I was unsure, and now my deck looks amazing next to my house! Wes, the estimator, was prompt and really respectful of my property and questions. I'd definitely hire him if I was planning to build a new deck from scratch as well, he seems really experienced. Overall just a great experience!

The bid process went well. The man who provided the estimate is a second generation painter and was the only one of all the estimators who knew they needed to use an oil based primer on my walls as I had just had new plaster installed in much of the house. I always had use of my kitchen, bedroom, bath and living room when the crew left. The walls. ceiling and trim look great - especially at corners and where the colors change. However, there were paint spatters on some of my counters, all over my toaster, and inconsistently on some of my hardwood floors. There was some paint on the furniture (hand smears?), and the handles and faucet of my basement washtub. The man who estimated the job followed up with me and took care of all the places I pointed out to him, and he stated he has changed out people who were on my crew (6 people the first day, 4 crew the second day, 3 people the third day). I just don't understand how my walls, ceiling and trim could look so professional, yet the clean up (paint spatters, paint smears, etc.) be so inconsistent.

They were very quick and friendly, from start to finish! I was so impressed with how efficient and fast they were. The quality of work was exactly what I had hoped for when I hired them and they had one of the better prices of all of the quotes I got. I would totally refer them to friends and I'll be using them for the second floor of my house in the future.

I purchased the $199 wallpaper removal deal listed on Angie's List. When I called to schedule, the company representative had no idea what I was talking about. She spoke with the owner and found out that the company will only honor the deal with an $1100 purchase. That was not stated on the deal anywhere. They said I should get my money back from Angie's List. If this were my business, and I'd erroneously posted a deal I did not wish to honor, I would immediately remove it, and then honor it for any customers who had already paid for it.

I called last week looking for a painting quote. I said I lived in Oak Park on the voice mail. I asked that they call me back. A week later & no call. I called again today June 22 2012 and left another voice mail. A very nice lady did call back and said they do NOT come to Oak Park - they focus on the Ann Arbor area. I was HOPING they did the Oak Park/Southfield area because I liked reading ALL their GOOD reviews. I did see one bad review that didn't seem solid BUT what impressed me even more is they way Elysium responded intelligently and professionally to that distressed client. I am still SEARCHING for and interior residential painter for a job in Oak Park / Southfield MI. A professional painter that can complete the job BEFORE July 4 2012. Everyone seems to booked through September 2012. Nice to see the MI economy picking up.

Recently I use Elysium Painting Co. for an exterior painting job, roughly 1,500 square feet. Its a job that I've been putting off for a while. Also, I haven't had the funds to pay for most of the prices I was given, so the job kept getting push back and back. Which, untimely the exterior of the house appearance declined and was becoming an eye sore. However, I found Elysium Painting Company and was able to work out an amazing deal to change my dilemma. Now, I'm a "do-it-yourself" type of person. If there's a job to do, I'll do my best to get it done and make sure it's done right. It's hard for me to hand jobs over to others, not knowing if the outcome will be up to my expectations. However, while working out the plans I felt comfortable with having Elysium Painting doing the job, knowing a quality job was assured. As we all know, times are tough. Keeping this in mind, I've been hesitant in paying for a painting company instead of just doing the job myself. However, there is no price tag on good quality job. I was able to get an astounding price for the exterior painting job I was asking for. The final price for the painting job was just under $3,000. Knowing a quality job was assured, I felt I could honestly trust the Elysium Painting company. The painting turned out excellent and I couldn't be more pleased with the final outcome. My exterior eyesore turned into a great looking property. I'm very happy with my choice and working with Elysium Painting company. Given another chance to work with them, wouldn't cause for a second thought.

As I mentioned before, there were a lot of repairs being done in the area and I knew our house was not as bad as many. I was worried that because our home was not as big of a job as others that the painter would not make our home a priority. A few other painting companies that I called had this sentiment, they did not want to waste their time with a simple paint job when other clients could give them more business on top of the painting. This was not the case with Elysium. When I called they were courteous on the phone and I was able to make an appointment with them to come out to my house later that week. They did not give me an obnoxiously large window of time they would arrive in, but a simple 3pm and they were there. During the estimate the man was very professional. I have two teenage daughters so am always cautious about having strange men around our home but it was clear from the beginning that this was a company I could trust. My girls were at ease around the manager and he treated them with dignity and respect. I know that might sound odd to mention, but it has been a problem in the past and it was a great relief to me to see that it would not be a problem with Elysium. In addition to this gracious behavior, the estimate was comparable if not better to those I had heard before and they ensured me that they could get my house prepped and painted within the next two weeks - something no other company promised me! Elysium kept their word on both the time frame and the estimate. They arrived early, took a short lunch and got the job done! They did not leave food wrappers in my yard or play loud inappropriate music. What really surprised me was how quickly they were able to get one side of the house done without missing a single strip of wood. They even repaired a damaged gutter without me asking and when I tried to compensate them for their work, they refused (I did make it up to them with a hearty tip at the end of the job though!). When it is all said in done, our house looked even better than it had before the storm and I had them walk through the interior to give my estimates on painting my dining and family rooms. I would recommend Elysium to any of my friends but especially to those who have a growing family under their roof. Thank you!

They did a fantastic job! They painted the ceiling from my dinning room all the way through the kitchen because they said that it would look uneven if we didn't do all the ceilings at the same time. I really appreciated them telling me that. They even referred us to Angie's List for information and coupons. The paint job looked great and all the suggestions they made were perfect. They really knew their profession. They painted the spindles on the steps, carefully handled and covered my furniture before moving it, took their time and did a good job cleaning up. They were very professional. From the receptionist to the estimater and painters and even the website, everyone was punctual and professional. They were always good about contacting me back and very nice to work with. I would definitly recommend them and use them again.

I used Elysium for painting work last year, and was so pleased with their professionalism that I decided to use their asphalt services. I called in, and the office gals scheduled me for a prompt appointment. The estimator came on time and provided me with a detailed estimate. I scheduled a day for the work to be done, and the crew was on time. The guys were efficient, polite, and didn’t get stuff all over my garden and yard! I would highly recommend Elysium to friends and family.

I was pleased with the job and the crew and I would hire them again in the future.

Elysium's customer service crew was very sweet and knowledgable on the phone. They set me up with a free estimate and were very accommodating with my difficult schedule. The estimator showed up on time and wrote me a very thorough quote. I was hesitant to use Elysium over my other option because the quote was a little bit higher. I was so impressed by their references- I figured that if I wanted a top-notch job that would last, I was willing to pay more. I couldn't be happier with the whole deal- the workers were respectful, thorough, and detail-oriented. The work is seamless. I'd be thrilled to hire Elysium again in the future.

II was very happy with Elysium from start to finish. I emailed them and someone got back with me right away to schedule a quote. Terry came over and walked through and addressed all my questions and concerns. He was very detailed and professional. He gave me a quote on the spot and I said I would set something up after I thought about it. Someone called me to follow up and asked if I had made a decision. I set up my date a week later and they took care of everything from there on out. The painters were very courteous and respectful of my home and did a very neat job. The end product was beautiful, the colors turned out really well and the deck looked like new. It was a wonderful experience through and through and I have recommended them to some of my friends and acquaintances. I would most definitely use them again for future work.

Easier than I expected. Job done fast, and the guys were neat and quiet.

There was also a problem with the mailing of the certified check I sent because Landau put a fictitious business address on google. When the check did not reach him I had to go to Chase Bank to see if I could put a stop on it and issue a new one.The banker told me this was something she had never done before; she looked up Elysium on google and called Landau and he confirmed it was a false made up address because he thought it would look better than his apartment address. It sounded like he started yeling at her to get his money and she replied I had "performed due diligence" by mailing it to his published address. She gave me her business card and recommended that I wait for it to be returned by the post office which I did and then sent it to his apartment. He frankly sounds unbalanced.

I called 3 painting companies and when I spoke with Jessica at Elysium I was so impressed at the way she took time with me. She actually listened to my concerns about having my house invaded and assured me that the painters would be neat and tidy and quiet. She said they would start the job and not leave until it was finished. I told her about trying to pick a color and much to my surprise, she offered a free color consultation! I had always heard that color consultants were big bucks, so this was awesome. A lady named "Corky" came over and educated me by showing popular colors, explaining how light affects color and finding out about who I am and what I like. I ended up with a light sage green color that I Love and would never have thought of myself. It is totally fine! The painting estimator Chris was on time and left me with my estimate on the spot. It was a bit higher than my other quotes but I said "lets do it". Sure enough, they started when they said they would, and the guys were great. They finished it without stopping, and left my place clean.

This is a top notch company. My estimate began with the very pleasant office staff. I called to receive an estimate. The office staff called me back within minutes. They were very knowledgeable about questions that I had. I work strange hours and they were very accommodating to my needs. I was set to meet with their estimator Pat. Before arrival Pat gave us a courteous call. I feel that is something that is lost in today's businesses. Pat was kind and very through. He pointed out things to us that we didn't notice. We took 2 other bids and where they were a little higher, we impressed with the presentation of Elysium. On painting day, the painters were on time and ready to work. They never used any swear words, nor did not smell of smoke, again something unheard of in the service industry. The total job took 3 days as scheduled. I could not be happier with Elysium Painting Company, and I will gladly tell all my friends that need painting to call this company.
