Overall it went very well. Of the three remodelers we asked for bids, Mr. Acheson was the most creative in suggesting changes that would allow us to stay within our budget and still meet our needs. The main crew (Steve and Jose) were polite and respectful.

The owner, Jim Acheson, came out and consulted with us regarding our retaining wall, which was decomposing and built incorrectly by the original owners. He took our concerns and desires for the wall and designed a replacement within a few days. He was able to advise us against some of our own ideas, pointing out long-term problems that would arise., reducing the lifespan of the wall.The Acheson Builders team was able to completely remove the dangerous and decrepit existing wall, which ran along the entire side of our house, and install multi-leveled wall within 10 days of starting. It looks to be a very solid wall, with more supports (deadmen) than I have seen in some other walls in our neighborhood.After they backfilled it and had cleaned up from the work, I expressed concern that the soil wasn't even on all the levels (for example, on one level the soil was flush with the wall, but on another level it was a few inches short), and they came back out and spread it around at no cost. It wasn't that the soil was incorrectly spread originally, but that they weren't sure where we would have preferred having the soil levels.

Acheson Builders remodeled our kitchen two years ago and we were very pleased with the work. We called Jim in the summer and began the process of designing the four rooms. We were provided with a detailed quote. Once we had decided on a design we picked out all of the fixtures, tile, paint colors, etc. Interior design help was available from Acheson Builders. As with our kitchen, the work began and ended at the agreed upon schedule. The workers were courteous and the rooms cleaned after each day's work. The work was arranged so that we were only without a shower for 36 hours and never without a functioning indoor toilet. All of the heating ducts had to be moved off the floor and two rooms are colder than they used to be. Acheson Builders is taking care of it at no additional cost. Any minor issues or questions we have had with the kitchen in the last two years have been responded to promptly. They stand behind their work.
