Description of Work: My husband and I went through Oasis Homes to have a modular home built and put on a piece of property that we had purchased through them. We were told about how long it would take to do the project (not including the financing which took longer than expected due to Oasis Homes submitting wrong paperwork multiple times). Once the loan was approved and we signed papers with the bank on December 17th 2010 we were told by Kevin Collin at Oasis Homes that they would be able to start on our project no later than the end of March 2011 (once weight restrictions were removed from the roads). March 2011 came and went...we called them several times and got the same old answer..."soon". Then the excuse was that there was too much rain to dig the basement, even though we had several weeks of no rain. They attempted to perk the land and found that we would be charged more money due to needing an engineered septic field (this is the first $7,000 we had to dish out...which we were muscled into signing a secondary note with the threat that they would stop the project if we didn't do so). We then found that the land was all rock so the well was going to cost more as well.... Anyway, finally in July 2011 they finally dug the basement. Our home was delivered over a month later, on August 14th (keep in mind that by this time we had been told that we would be into our home by the end of the summer)...the floor wasnt poured during this whole time either...so that had to be poured through the egress window and the stress cracks done after the home was set on the basement (which filled the home and vents with cement dust). Once the home was set the real nightmare began. We were then told by Kevin Collin at Oasis that it would take about 90-120 days to get into our home...during this time the home went weeks without anything being done on it. We found out during the next several months that the contractors were not being paid (even though draws were done off of the construction loan), so this put in delays because they were not willing to work for free of course (and who can blame them). During this time either me or my husband would call the company to find out the status of things and were told lie upon lie to get rid of us...it even got to the point where Kevin did not want to talk with me anymore...he even went as far as to let my husband know that. Their contractors would come to the house, do a day of work then we wouldn't see them again for weeks...sometimes over a month. There were items missing from the home that were in the floor plans but Kevin said either the items cost too much or it was our responsibility to take care of it (i.e. gutters for the home, garage door...etc.). These items added on even more expense than what was alotted for the loan...putting us further and further into debt for this dream home. In the beginning of December Oasis sent out a girl from their office to clean the house (magically our brand new vacuum came up missing as well as my husbands drill)....she didn't clean the home at all (as was evident with the cement dust all over everything and the drywall and paint ground into the floors)...I basically had to do a heavy duty cleaning upon move in. We were then informed that we had to have gutters which cost us $1300.00 extra, and the garage door (which should have been included)...which cost us another $800.00. There were other fees incurred as well in the weeks before we moved in...too numerous to mention. Anyway, on the weekend of December 17th (about 1 week before Christmas) we finally got to move in...I do need to mention that we have a 2 1/2 year old who was really wanting decorations and a tree...items we had to throw together at the last minute so that she could have a Christmas. We were scheduled to meet with Kevin Collins at the Oasis office for "final paperwork"....we hired a sitter and went to the meeting only to have it turn out to be a meeting where we were told off by the builder (Kevin Collins) and threatened. We were told that we must submit an apology letter to the bank on his behalf and take out a home equity loan to pay off the secondary loan (something we have since found out was illegal for him to get anyway with an FHA loan). Needless to say we have not paid anymore on the secondary loan with him nor have we sent out the "apology letter". We have since found out that Oasis Homes is being investigated by Huntington Bank for fraud to us as well as at least 6 other clients.
