Quality Insulation

Not well at all. They were a month late in starting (which was a problem for the sheetrockers) . Their contract was coded and virtually indecipherable to someone outside their office. When I asked for a plain english version they said that was not how their system was set up. Hardly any of the job was done correctly the first time, including forgetting to seal 95% of the penetrations and 100% of the joist band foaming before attempting to bury that behind the insulation. When I pointed that fact out they did rip all the netting out and attempted to seal and foam as promised. They apparently used the wrong material in a still unknown number of places, perhaps the entire job. When that was discovered they claimed it was only a minor portion of the job but then they refuse to put in writing that the wrong material was only used in a very limited area, as they claimed. They would show up on an irregular basis and came up far short on the attic insulation depth and had to come back to correct that. The 3 actual workers were pretty good guys and tried to do a good job I suppose but they got zero support from their company and did make very large but basic mistakes. Before I signed their contract they emphatically promised that they only used 100% Borate treated cellulose but then I discovered that they were using a cheaper, non 100% borate cellulose. I tried to negotiate a price adjustment since by then the sheetrock was up and it would have been cost and time prohibitive to correct that. After a month of attempts to resolve the issue and settle for about a 10 or 15% reduction in price they refused to put in writing that it was only a small percentage of the wrong material. At this point they do not return any emails and keep sending me bills for the full contract amount. I found out later that their parent company is a partial owner of Home Depot. I will try to see if getting in touch with Home Depot helps. I had contracted with "Quality Insulation" because a local builder had recommended them highly but for a different type of insulation job and crew that apparently went well. I wish I had never heard of them at this point and would certainly not recommend them to anyone. I will amend this if they ever get around to resolving this issue.
