Terrible experience. In the future I wouldn't hire Brian to change a washer in my garden hose. On the plus side, he is responsive by telephone and arrived on time. I had requested him to remove two toilets in my house and to install the two replacement toilets that I had purchased at Lowe's. He removed the first toilet and placed it in the bathtub to drain. After the water was out of it, he carried it to his truck for disposal. The bathtub had a coating of black dirt from having the toilet drained there. Wouldn't you think he could've put down some rags or some other material, not only to absorb the filth, but to reduce the chance of scratching the tub. There was also a fair amount of dirt on the bathroom floor that was not there prior to the job. He mentioned the dirt to my wife, but did not clean it up. He then installed the new toilet and moved on to the guest bathroom. These bathrooms are small; it's not like I could stand there to watch over him. He repeated the same dubious practice of placing the old guest toilet in the shower to drain it without placing any absorbent or cushioning material under it. He carried the second toilet to his truck. While he was outside, I looked at the wall that had been behind the tank. It was black with mildew! I wiped it down with a disposable wipe. A stain remained, but at least it wasn't as horrible. At that point I went back to the master bath and looked behind the newly installed tank. Once again, the wall was not only black with mildew, but there were areas of paint delaminating from the wall. The old tanks fit closely to the walls. We were unaware of the mildew behind the tanks. I remarked to Brian about the mildew. He recommended a product that he said was available at Lowe's. I couldn't help but think that he must run into mildew on walls behind toilet tanks often. Why doesn't he carry some of the mildew product in his truck and at least wipe down the wall behind the tank? Or at the very least, mention to the homeowner at the time the appointment is made to check behind the tank and be prepared to take remedial action if required? As part of the job he installed two new hoses. All other materials were provided by me. I asked him what I owed him; he said,"$225.00." He did not provide an invoice, nor tell me a breakdown of the cost of the hoses or his billing rate. I believe he was here slightly less than two hours. I could've asked for a breakdown and/or a written invoice, but frankly, I wanted to move on with my day which included cleaning up the dirt in the two bathtubs and floors. It didn't end with the cleaning up after him. A couple of days later, my wife pointed out a chip in the porcelain on the base of the master bath toilet. The chip was near the bolt that holds the toilet to the floor. The chip was somewhat hidden by a smear of plumbers putty. Upon further investigation I discovered that the decorative caps that hide the floor bolts were glued to the toilet with putty instead of being held in place by the plastic threaded inserts that were supplied by the manufacturer. The bolts themselves were rusty and they had steel nuts on them. They were the original bolts, not the new ones that came with the toilet. Was the chip in the porcelain there when he took the toilet out of its crate, in which case he should've pointed it out? Or did he cause the chip with his wrench when he was tightening the old nuts, then hide it with putty? We'll likely never know. I called the manufacturer of the toilet. They said that the chip could result in a crack that could propagate through the porcelain. I then called Brian to explain the situation to him. His response was that if I had purchased the toilet from him, he would stand behind it, but since I provided it, I was stuck. This gets worse. I removed the chipped toilet myself. I discovered that not only had he reused the old bolts, but that he didn't remove the original wax seal. He just slapped the new wax ring on top of the original, then set the new toilet. I scraped off the two wax rings. I obtained a new toilet. Prior to installing the new replacement toilet, I washed the wall, spackled the places that needed repair, primed and painted the wall. When I installed the newest toilet, I used the hardware and wax ring that came with it. The decorative caps are held in place by the plastic gizmos provided by the manufacturer. I have not removed the guest toilet yet. I did check for putty and found none. On that toilet he used the plastic gizmos to attach the caps. However he didn't tighten the bolts that hold the tank to the bowl. It's not leaking, but it wiggles around when I touch the tank. When I do get around to removing the toilet to clean and paint the wall, I expect to find two wax rings. I don't see Brian Long as a "professional." He seems to me to be a slap-dash opportunist with a concept of cleanliness not normally associated with a professional. There is no excuse for not removing the old wax ring and rusty bolts. I do not recommend using him for plumbing services.

On New Year's Eve morning, we discovered our pipes were frozen. Brian fit us into a busy schedule (we weren't the only ones in our area with this problem!) and provided EXCELLENT communication regarding his estimated time of arrival -- we knew exactly where we were in the and quot;queueand quot; among his other last-minute jobs that day, and he was clear about how to best reach him at all times. He was professional, thoughtful, and affordable. We absolutely plan to continue using him for all our future plumbing needs.

I thought he did everything professionally. I am having some troubles with the sink but I don't know if it is anything he did. I thought his price was a little high, but I think he charged me for the travel time.

He was extremely responsive. He returned my initial calls within half an hour. He showed up when he said he was going to show up. I think his final bill was below estimate. He was excellent.
