M A Boucher

My wife and I purchased a home that was built by Mike Boucher. Mr. Boucher had given me his card upon my family moving into the home and said to contact him with any questions on the home. About a week ago, I noticed a small hole in the frame of my front door. I was planning on just replacing that. Upon taking a small bit of siding off it was revealed that the plywood on the house was rotted. I had contacted a contractor and they came out and took the bottom part of the siding off and it revealed that the whole house was covered in rot and was falling apart in their hands. I had contacted my insurance company and they came out and upon looking at it said it was an issue that started from day one and they would NOT cover the cost to replace the whole front of the home. (including my front door and all siding as it was put it on tight and had no room to breathe. My wife called Mr. Boucher on 9/11/2015 and he stated he was out of town and would stop by the house on Monday or Tuesday of the following week. I called Mr. Boucher and left him a message on his cell phone on 9/17/2015. Mr. Boucher showed up around 1:30 on 9/17/2015 and upon arriving said that it was not his fault and said it was rain shed, ice jam or my own fault this happened. The design was so that the rain ran behind the siding and that caused it to rot and went UN-detected for 14 years. We have received an estimate of about $5,000 but we are unsure if that will be the total cost as it is unknown if there are other issues under the siding that has yet to be removed by the garage and on the top story of our home. New siding will also need to be put on as the current siding was on to tight and would not allow the underlying materials to breathe correctly. BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

He brought in two contractors who did the essential work. These guys worked hard, quickly, and very professionally. Mike Boucher came over to the house every day to supervise and advise further on the work. They arrived when he said they would and they finished the job exactly on the date agreed to.
