About us

Home Snuggers specializes in improving home insulation in Maine and features RetroFoam, the best choice for insulating an existing home. Every home is unique so our estimators determine the best insulation for each and every customer individually. Each area of your home may require a different type of insulation which may be a blown in insulation, spray in insulation, foam insulation, cellulose, or other type of home insulation foam. How do we help you save money? We help you identify the type of insulation that will pay for itself the fastest. RetroFoam, one of our most popular products, works well for homes with poor wall insulation or walls with no insulation at all. RetroFoam is an eco-friendly, nonflammable foam that quickly acts to seal gaps and cracks, keeping precious heat inside on cold days and cool air in summer months. Installation is done from outside so it’s quick, clean, and hassle free. Did you know that, for Maine, foam insulation surpasses fiberglass or cellulose? It also reduces outside noise, stops drafts, and is guaranteed never to settle. Home Snuggers installers are trained professionals who can work on any home and answer all your questions about Maine foam insulation. Our customers will tell you how comfortable, effective, and affordable it can be. Insulation is much more affordable than the rising cost of heating of a poorly insulated house over time. Don’t let a leaky house put a drain on your wallet. Contact Home Snuggers today to arrange for a free estimate.

workers doing the job were excellent. When I was finally given a second date they showed up on time and went right to work. The person that came out and gave me the estimate no longer works for the company. I got charged a little more as the owner said that the employee giving the estimate did not include an area. There were other areas that I was charged for but they could not do. They were supposed to show up a few weeks prior to when they actually showed up. Got a call the day they were supposed to show up by the owner stating his employees had all gone out the night before and got food poisoning. When they did show up. 2 weeks later I asked how they were feeling. They had no idea what I was talking about. Come to find out a crew had been let go. Then just tell me that I would understand.. Anyway, the energy auditor came back in and found a few spots that were not filled in properly. The crew came back but did not fill in the correct spots. At this point I just let it go. The gentleman who Home snuggers hired to do the basement portion of the work did a fantastic job... Professionalism was rated as fair due to owner not the workers. Responsiveness rated D due to numerous calls with no return calls. I have read other reviews and I am sure that the owner will render his own version. But all said and done they did a good job

There was an energy audit and it showed they missed a few spots. They came back but it took a while. The workers were ok. To make the house tighter would have gotten them an A. A year later they were some cracks. They should have a one-year follow-up.

In my experience they did a less than stellar job. They barely know what they are doing when it comes to replacing wood siding. There are half inch gaps where the siding meets the trim. We had them do some work from the interior of the house and there's a number of places where the wood floors were gouged by the hose and some gouges possibly by a ladder. I'm also not sure their product is the best for filling walls. First it doesn't seem to stop air flow. I still have cold air coming in around the electrical outlets and windows. Second they claim it's pest resistant. I have some living right by my bed and they're still there moving around in this stuff. I brought most of these things up during the post-work inspection and they were explained away. At this point I am unconvinced it was worth it.

"Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], I'm so sorry to hear of your disappointment. It's been months since we worked for you, but it seems no one on our staff has heard about any of this. I would like to come soon and inspect for all these issues. We'll do anything and everything we can to make things right. - Mark Walker, General Manager"

Wonderful service, excellent crew, worked above and beyond expectations.
The crew was here for three days. The first two were rainy and cold.... but work went on. The last day was nice at last so the outside work could be finished.
We are so pleased with the work and the crew. (Hire a vet!)
This was expensive but worth every penny.
Thank you to everyone involved this project.

it went well and in a reasonable amount of time.  they provided a pre-and-after energy audit.  they came back afterwards (albeit quite a while afterwards) and did some more work in the attic.  all of this was provided free of charge.
the only thing we weren't previously aware of was the out-gasing from the spray foam.  because the installation was done in June, we did not notice the effects until we closed up the house and started using the furnace in the fall.  we both had quite a few allergy symptoms, my husband's my worse than mine, because of lung and breathing issues.  we started using our air filters, running the bathroom fan all the time and airing out the house more.  the effects are abating now, but it took a month or more.

"Dear Mrs. _______________, How nice of you to take the time to give us a review! Many folks these days are too crunched for time to report back. And thanks for thinking about us from a few months back. (I think it was last fall that we worked for you - just in time before that horrendous winter.) If you think of anything we could do different or better, please let us know. We greatly value the feedback. Thanks again for hiring Home Snuggers, I hope you enjoy a wonderful summer. Regards, Mark Walker General Manager"

"Thanks much for submitting a review. I know it takes a bit of time; most of our customers have so little extra time to spare. Apologies that it took us 3 days to do the work. But most of that time was for snow shoveling! Thanks again for hiring Home Snuggers."

"Dear Ms. _________________, Yes, that came out very nicely. It was just that one wing we found needed "snugging"; fortunate that the rest of your house is already so well insulated. Mark, Home Snuggers General Manager Thanks again for hiring us at Home Snuggers. Mark Walker General Manager"

They were very polite and responsive. They showed up when scheduled and started on time. They unfortunately ran into a lot of rain, and not only had to split the work between 2 days, but hit rain on both days. Despite the weather, they generally did a good job. There were a number of clapboards that got cracked in the process and though most were replaced, a few were not. After a quick call to Home Snuggers, they apologized and made arrangements to come out and replace anything that was not done initially. Their customer service has been very, very good.

They came to provide me an estimate very promptly. The estimate was very fair (which contained a $125 Angie member rebate plus a state of Maine $1000 rebate) which offset the total cost of the installation. They (3 workers) arrive on time, quickly et up and went to work. They answered all of my questions and did a fantastic job cutting no corners during the installation. The clean up was as if they never were there. The house was left in the same condition as when they arrived. This job even included a specialist who came before and after to measure my air loss. I was impressed with all of the individuals as to their knowledge and care will servicing me. After they left that same day, I immediately notice a silence inside my home. It was great! Just as they said I would experience. Since the install I have noticed my furnace running less and now that the hot humid air and it's AC's time my units also run less to cool my house. Fantastic. I would and have recommended this outfit to various folks I know. My payback should be in as little as 3 to 4 years.  Very satisfied customer.

"Thanks for the report, (Member name removed). Yes, we do try to get in and out as efficiently as we can so that it’s as little hassle for you as possible. And we usually use a thermal camera to make sure no spots were missed. When we get into winter again (a harsh reality here in Maine) we’ll be eager to hear how your house is for comfort and energy efficiency. For the RetroFoam procedure you had done for your walls, most people see a reduction in heating costs between 25% - 40% -- some report over 50%! Have you noticed how much quieter the noise from outside is? Thanks again for being our customer. If you think of anything we could have done differently or better, please let us know. Best wishes, Home Snuggers www.HomeSnuggers.com (207) 894-5415"

It was a great experience. They did all the work from outside. They did not need hazmat suits, which was a concern. The work was completed in one day and they left everything cleaner than when they got here.
The temperature in our house is more consistant. One end of our house used to be at least 10 degrees colder in the winter and 10 degrees warmer in the summer. Now it is the same as the rest of the house. With a winter as cold as 2013/2014 is, I will spend a lot of money heating the house, but not as much as before the extra insulation was installed.
As a bonus, we don't hear as much of the outside noise as we did before. We can still hear it, but it is not as noticable.
I would not hesitate to hire them again when I am ready to update insulation in other areas of my home.

We had our new home insulated with Home Snuggers RetroFoam in the fall to prepare for the winter. I immediately noticed our heat coming on to warm the house was occuring less frequently because our home staying warmer longer. I also noticed a reduction in outside noise. The insulation helps decrease our need to buy oil and keeps out noise from our neighborhood. since our installation in November we have used less than 750 gallons of oil for a 1500sqft home. That's nearly half what we are accustomed to using.
The Home Snuggers staff were knowledgable, friendly and did exactly what they said they would. It was a pleasure to work with them and I've been impressed with the quality of the product. they took the time to answer all my questions and address my concerns. The process took only one day. I would highly recommend getting your home "Snugged" if you're looking to save money and increase the value of your home.

We live in a very energy efficient, passive solar home, built in 1980. Between sunlight and burning 2 cords of wood, very little other energy is needed (we have electric baseboards, which we rarely use). That being said, there is one large room at one end of our house, that the heat from the woodstove barely gets to, because of the design of the home. It also happens to be my daughter's bedroom. She has been very chilly since we moved her in there a few years ago. We decided to try better insulation in that room to warm her up. We got a free, no pressure estimate from the Home Snuggers, Inc. owner, Mark Walker. All services were performed by professional nice employees who answered questions, worked efficiently, and left everything as tidy as it was when they arrived. And wow--what a difference! My daughter notice immediately that the walls were warmer to the touch, and she wasn't freezing when she got out of bed in the morning. Indeed the heat from the woodstove seems to be enough now and it feels as if it hovers in her room instead of disappearing. I would highly recommend this insulation to anyone who wants to make a quality long term investment in their home, save money on heating bills, and live more comfortably.
