Description of Work: Ellis landscaping promptly returned my phone call, set up an appointment and came out to give me an estimate for a very large landscaping project on a home that sits on 5 acres of property with 1 acre of landscaped areas. During the estimate I got the feeling that Mr. Ellis really wasn't interested in the scope of this project and was "too busy" to bother looking at the details of what the project required. He genuinely seemed disinterested compared to other other companies I had give me an estimate. When his estimate came in it was 50% higher than anyone else;my feeling was he really didn't want the job...so we chose someone else who was genuinely interested.

+ -1 moreEach summer I leave town for six weeks, and I always hire Sean Ellis to take care of my lawn while I'm gone. He mows my lawn, which includes getting through and around fences, and he weed whacks where needed. He comes once a week or so, depending on how much rain we've gotten and the needs of the grass. It always looks incredibly neat and clean upon my return. He is particularly fastidious about cleaning up after himself - no grasses blowing around. He also has advised me on "green" ways to battle weeds and did a lime application for me one summer and advised me on how to carry on with applying lime in future months. We communicate via email, and he is always clear with his plans and then sends a concise, descriptive bill upon my return. He is professional to work with, yet he does all of the work himself with usually one employee. He is careful and courteous and on time. He even fixed a gate for me once (after asking if I wanted him to) that I had just ignored for years.
Description of Work: Regularly mowing and weed-whacking my lawn (about 2500 sq. ft.), including around fences and trees. Has done a lime application and advised me on future care of my lawn. Also repaired a gate.

He was very courteous and professional, did exactly what I wanted and cleaned up nicely before leaving. I definitely plan to continue to use him for yard work as needed.
Description of Work: Shrubs on the side and front of the house were quite overgrown and required significant trimming.

We stay in touch via email when I'm gone and he always makes sure to time his last mow and weed-whack for right before my return. He charges a reasonable amount and simply sends me an invoice upon my return.
Description of Work: He has been taking care of my lawn during extended summer absences for 4 years now. He mowed and weed-whacked as needed, often every week but, less often as grass growth slowed.
