TRUGREEN

I’ve been under contact with TruGreen for years, but the aggressive marketing is cruel and unusual. The company bombards me with phone calls, US Mail, emails, and fliers on my door. All I want is my lawn treated for weeds and fertilized on a regular basis, but the company harasses me constantly to add additional services to my contract. They contact me every single day. I’ve asked repeatedly that they stop, and they always say they will, but it only gets worse with time. I’ve received phone calls the last three days in a row to discuss my last lawn treatment, but it’s a different person each time, and each of them makes up a different issue that needs treatment at my house. They even market services to me that I already have and promise WEEED FREE! GUARANTEED! I’m done with TruGreen. I can’t stand being harassed any longer and I still have weeds all these years later.

I had receive three calls for scheduled services from TruGreen, but TruGreen missed all three services: 1. On Sept 22, 2017, TruGreen called me and set the time of aeration and seeding on Sept 27,2017 and asked me to clean the yard so that they can come to do service. We did clean up the yard and were ready for them to come. On Sept 27, 2017 no one showed up, and no one called me and told me they would not come. 2. I called TruGreen, they told me they rescheduled the time. On Sept 29, I got the second call from TruGreen, they said they would come on Oct.4 to do the aeration and seeding, and asked us to clean out the yard and made every thing be ready. On Oct 4, 2017, still no one showed up and at the evening of Oct 4, they called me and told me they could not make it. 3. I did call TruGreen many times and to find out what would be the service time. Yesterday one of the local TruGreen people called me (third time), she said, the aeration and seeding service would be on OCT 13, asked me to clean out the yard and leaves. We did clean the yard and were ready for TruGreen to do the aeration and seeding. However, again, we did not see any TruGreen aeration and seeding service showed up. This morning someone from TruGreen called me told me that they have done the service at 7:12am of OCT 13, 2017. We checked the yard, actually TruGreen did not do anything, there is NO any aeration and seeding. I feel that I got cheating by TruGreen. I am really surprised that TruGreen is such a bad service.

What I was worried about was not the problem. The spraying killed 80% of my front lawn. It was a disaster that became apparent around 3 days following the treatment. I complained to the company who had no solution. They did not come to see the damage. I wrote a letter after I received the bill and it was eventually credited. Unfortunately, they continued to solicit me as thought I was a new customer until I finally reached the right person and the solicitations stopped, roughly a year later.

This company is quite aggressive with sales - frequent night time calls by sales people for additional services - grub control, etc. Not a great job done with analysis or personal discussion about status of lawn, etc. I've decided to do this my self - their program is typically 5 treatments at $100 ea (for the size of my yard). I Felt that this was unnecessarily too frequent.

I got tired of having to keep track of their billing and service. I decided to go w/ a smaller local company with a smaller turn-over rate, where I wouldn't get lost.

Poorly. They over-fertilized my lawn on the first fertilizer application. They have reseeded the dead portions of the lawn, but I have been responsible for watering. It has taken the entire growing season to get the lawn seeded (still working on it) due in part to difficulty in coordinating the fieldwork with their office personnel. A portion of the reseeded lawn then got destroyed by crows searching for grubs which hadn't been sufficiently killed with the grub application placed earlier in the spring. I am now beginning to reseed and water this area. All in all this has been an extremely frustrating experience and I will not use or recommend this company to anyone.

Overall, I'm pleased with their service and the lawn looks great. From a cost comparison standpoint I believe if I purchased the material myself to maintain the lawn I would spend close to what I'm paying for their services. As such, I think their prices are reasonable and their service is consistent. My only gripe is that they tend to try & upsell you on services. Their billing practices have also been somewhat aggressive if payment wasn't remitted within 2 weeks or so after the lawn treatment you'd have someone calling to follow-up. I have provided this same feedback to TruGreen in surveys that have sent to me. I do believe the upsell practice and billing issues have been less noticeable in the last year or so which may indicate they have changed their business practices in this regard.

They do a fine job, but in my opinion, they are a bit overly aggressive in marketing services above and beyond the original contract.
