Neglectful Workers from the Roofa installed tongue and groove roof sheathing "tongue to tongue" and "groove to groove". Manufacturer specification for this product stipulate tongues must go into grooves during installation. They did not bother to construct my roof properly because they were in such a rush to finish in a day. Combative Afterwards, the business owner came to my home, inspected the finished project, and gave it a passing grade. Following my discovery of the faulty workmanship, I gave this business the opportunity to make things right but they refuesed and advised I should hire somebody else. When I would not choose the contractor they wanted me to, the business owner attempted to wedge himself between us and the new contractor we hired in order to negotiate a better price for himself. It is my firm belief this business was not honest with me and I do not believe they will care about providing quality workmanship for your roof that you protect your family with either.
Description of Work: Full roof replacement including sheathing. I have a very simple roof. Not tall, not steep, not overly large. The Roofa completely failed at one of the most simple roofing projects they could have been offered. In my opinion, the workers sent to my home by the Roofa did not fit any of the descriptions found on the company websight which promises consumers "Service with Integrity" and a "team of experts". It also makes claims of an "experienced staff" that is "highly knowledgeable". They rushed through the job and it came out absolutely terrible. They also left thier jackets behind and I found my kids going through the pockets the next morning. In addition to the jackets, we found discarded phone charger cords, cigarrette butts, what appeared to by the remnants of drug parapheneilia, and other junk all left by the side of a private road that I share with my neighbors. We are still finding little bits of shingle trimmings in the gardens.

Contracted for a new 50 year roof with removal of existing roof and replacement of some of the side pieces of wood and placing netting over the vents to stop squirrels from getting inside. Dan explained everything ahead of time and the job was done on time and on budget. The workmen were efficient and curtious. Dan and his wife sent a thank you note which I thought was a lovely gesture. They also gave a gift card to our neighbors as a thank you for recommending their company.

Glen showed up for the roof estimate and proceeded to "stay" for an hour and a half. All the while being "my friend". His estimate was $23,160. or $8,000.00 more than the 5 other quotes I received for the same work. He was really surprised that I didn't sign the contract RIGHT THEN. Are you kidding me? Who signs a $23, 000 contract without sleeping on it?

Excelent. Came when they said they would did the job and cleaned up after themselves.
Description of Work: I needed a new roof so that I could have solar collectors installed. I called around and the Roofa had the best price and could do the job when i needed it done. The crew while looking like a group of barbarians were polite and civil. The job was done on time and I have not had any problems.

This has to be the most frustrating service experiences I have ever had in 40 years of home ownership. Upon the first rain event following completion of the new roof, I found a leak and notified The Roofa (August 24, 2010). To this day - 8 months later - it still leaks - despite the written warranty promising 24-hour response to problems. The company's own staff have told me that part of the roof was improperly installed and needs to be replaced, but I can't even get the company owner (Dan Wilson) to return a telephone call. I have complained to the Better Business Bureau without any resolution (although I did learn that I was not the first to complain about this company). I finally turned to the Maine Attorney General's office, who found that my complaint had merit, and attempted to intervene. They, too, have yet to hear from the owner since they first attempted contact in December 2010.

My husband and I decided to re-shingle our roof this Fall. Having talked to a few people about other roofers, I knew who I didn't want! I had received a flyer from The Roofa, he was offering new roofing at $325/Square (10x10), 30 year IKO Architectural shingles, and a 10 year guarantee on all workmanship. I called and set up an appointment and Dan Wilson came within two days. He came with a list of references, a certificate of no complaints from the BBB, and a certificate of liability insurance. A few days later we called and asked him when he could start. I dropped by his office and gave him half the amount and picked out the color. They started on a Thurs. and finished the next day mid afternoon. I could hardly tell they had been there. Dan Wilson also does replacement windows and we will be talking to him about that in the near future as well.
