They didn't do the repair because we first need to buy a new faucet, but they will apply the dispatch fee to the repair cost once completed.

The staff at Pine State are pros. Professional in every manner. The new system, installed the way they have done it is very impressive. They are expensive - but they take no shortcuts.

They checked it out and proposed turning my boiler into a cold-start boiler and installing a heat pump water heater. After checking with the oil company that usually maintains my boiler, I learned that this was a bad idea that would damage the boiler. I did not go through with the procedure, and they were understanding of my reasons why, refunded my deposit.

From top to bottom, start to finish, this was one of my best experiences with a contractor. The work was performed ahead of schedule with a minimum of inconvenience to me. Connor, Chris, Mark, Jason and the crew were awesome: personable, professional and knowledgeable. The result is a beautiful and quiet new Buderus boiler with indirect water heater. I couldn't be happier. Thanks guys!

Pine State Services started by removing my old, junky forced hot air system along with the old oil tank. After the removal of the old system, the installation of the new Buderus boiler system (oil) took about a week or so. I have an old house (1850's) and retrofitting all new pex piping through the first and second floor was not an easy task. The gentlemen doing the work made it look rather easy - I was pretty impressed. Along with the new Buderus boiler, they installed a new water tank - so basically I have an endless amount of hot water which is definitely a change from my last system. I am 100000000 times happier with this system then they old and very happy I went through Pine State Services.

Furnace had routine service Nov. 2. Today (11/19) we noticed an oil smell and and an oil leak at the base of the furnace. Called Pine State and they fit us into the schedule same day. Arrived earlier than expected, diagnosed the problem immediately, took responsibility for it and fixed it at no charge. Despite the earlier glitch, I felt that the annual tuneup was thorough and the technician was very professional -- pleasant and polite. So glad to have found these guys!

A customer service person contacted me promptly and was flexible to my needs regarding scheduling service, which was replacing a leaking water main shutoff valve and adjusting the location of pipe in that area. She took care of communication with the water company to shut off service at the street on the day the work was to be performed. The technician was knowledgeable and did good work. An unexpected piece of the work was replacing the water meter, which was scheduled to be upgraded to a digital meter by the water company in the near future anyway. The work was finished in about 4 hours. I have no complaints about the work performed, but the pricing was vague (it was a flat-rate price for this type of job, described on my bill as "custom grid task - $1,200") and the technician could not explain it clearly to my wife and when I called the field supervisor for further explanation it was not explained in a clear way either. What I hoped for was "Here's roughly how long it was expected to take, and given the material cost typically associated with this type of job, this is how the billing works. These other factors affected the cost as well." The answer I received was more along the lines of "Based on the task, we used flat pricing, and that's what it came to" Service was great, but next time I think I'd rather use someone else who can more clearly tell me what I'm paying for. In the end, we needed it fixed so we said yes to the price before the work was begun, so I guess that is on us. But it led to a bit of buyer's remorse.

Scheduling was easy, prompt and everybody was very professional. The first tech we had inspect our boiler was unable to fix the problem. Moreover, the fix he suggested was incorrect and it wasn't until I personally contacted the manufacturer that they explained that he must have missed something. Pine State Services were very good and very quick about sending out another tech, who was courteous and professional. This tech troubleshooted the boiler with the manufacturer on the phone and successfully identified the problem and part that needed replacement. The part was delivered within an hour or so and he installed it quickly and seamlessly. We will continue to use them in the future, as everybody makes mistakes, but the failure of the first tech caused a significant headache and unnecessary stress on our part.

I've used Pine State Services a few other times and am consistently pleased with their responsiveness and professionalism of the staff. For this visit, they repaired a leaking copper to PEX connection for our forced hot water heating. They arrived on schedule and took care of the problem quickly, after explaining the costs and process to me. They do tend to be on the more expensive side, but I find value in having service performed by a company that I trust and that stands behind their work (with a warranty).

I've never been so furious with a service provider. We had you service and clean the burner in August. Today we woke to a chimney billowing black smoke. We called for service and explained the burner was just cleaned and serviced three months ago. The technician insisted he had to clean the burner again for another $200 to determine what was causing the issue. That's on top of the $150 after hours fee. I'm just disgusted. There was absolutely no need for that. If he were indeed a professional he should have first considered what may be causing the burner to become clogged after just three months. Well it turns out the flue was coming apart and he did NOT need to clean the burner to figure that out. I will never recommend your business. you don't look out for the customer. I feel completely taken advantage of.

I am sorry that you were upset with the service. Unfortunately our technician did follow procedure here on this situation. We always charge an Emergency fee to send out a technician at night and he did need to clean the burner because it was completely plugged when he arrived on site. He never did any work that wasn’t approved by you. He presented the menu and you approved the work to be done and signed his work order. When a boiler is plugged even after only a short time, (3 months) the sequence of procedures usually begins with either checking the oil side of the boiler, filter, strainer, nozzle and then cleaning the boiler to test the performance. There is no way to figure out what caused a plugged boiler until you clean it and run it to determine the cause. While unplugging the boiler, he removed the smoke pipe to find that the chimney had collapsed and he recommended a chimney contractor to come out immediately. He wouldn’t have been able to diagnose this issue without performing the cleaning. He then informed you that the boiler was unsafe to run and you refused to allow him to disable it. He made it very clear that our company was not liable should you run the boiler due to a build-up of carbon monoxide poisoning in your home. You actually refused to pay him the full value of the job which we feel he completed professionally and correctly. It is unfortunate that you do not see the value that our technician provided. We are proud of the work he did, he is one of our best technicians. Not only is our company on the line when something this serious happens but also his personal license to work in the State. A collapsed chimney is not something to be taken lightly. We do not feel you were take advantage of in any way. This is certainly a unique situation and not a common problem. Pine State's owner did call you personally once he heard that you were not pleased with our service.

The process took 3 days, as expected, and they just finished the job. The lead salesman, Lee, was pleasant to work with, set reasonable expectations, and discussed options with me. I pushed back a bit on the price and we compromised. Everyone won. The installation crew (two gentleman, one older, one younger) were courteous, clean, efficient, and very good to talk with. The work they did was excellent. And they were so quiet that they startled one of my tenants who wasn't fully aware they were working in my basement. Trust me, that's a plus. They showed up on time, or early each day, and were apologetic when behind by 7 minutes on day two due to an internal meeting with the company. I don't begrudge this. Because this was a major capital expense for me, and because I'm a genuinely curious person, I requested that a small tour of my unit be given after installation so I understand how to run it. They showed up first thing this morning (Tuesday after installation) and spent 20 minutes walking over the finer point features of the unit, operation, issues I could encounter, etc. all at personal expense of time. This was very nice to have and certainly instills a sense of confidence when you put a good portion of your annual expendable income into your physical plant. I hope to report back over time about their ongoing service being up to par with initial service.

Description of Work: I had Lee Nicely give me a quote for installing a new heating system including new Euro style radiators. He was very punctual and answered all my questions. The installers were very courteous and professional; always cleaning up and answering my questions. The whole process went very smoothly and was done on time and for the quoted price. I later had them in to move some more plumbing and install the new plumbing in the walls. Again, the job was done on time and for thecquoted price. I recommend them highly and with no reservations. They might not give the lowest price, but quality work does not come cheap.

starting to do the wash the dishes the hot water came out boiling I checked the hot water heater in the cellar and it was boiling too I turned of the electric power and called Pine State Services for help The operator said that she had a tech in my area and he would be there as soon as he finished with his customer About 30 minutes later he called to say he was on his way to my home When he arrived he went to the cellar to check on the heater. We both agreed that the old heater was gone...Now I thought I have to go and buy a new heater then have it delivered then find someone to install the heater plus have the old one removed and discarded After Bill sized up the situation he came upstairs with a plan He said he could install a new heater remove the old one and have the old discarded He suggested that the old heater was too big for my needs and recommended a small 40 gal heater We agreed on the price and the work began Another truck arrived with the new heater and with the help of the driver the old heater was removed and trucked away In a few hours I had a brand new heater and lots of hot water with absolutely no work on my part The service of this company and their employees is amazing The gals who answer the calls for help are really angels under cover with their help my problem was solved is a short time and no effort on my part

Despite rave reviews on CustomerLobby.com, I would not hire this company.
Description of Work: This business charges $79 for an estimate. It is considered a "service call." Although they credit the $79 to your account if they do the work, you are out the money if you don't. Most local businesses do not charge for estimates. In addition, they would not talk with me about my well pump details, unlike two other businesses who discussed the potential repairs and costs, and who both gave me estimates over the phone.

$79

Response from Pine State Services
Thank you for your review. Pine State does charge a dispatch fee of $79 to go out to a home with the assumption that we will repair your problem immediately and get you up and running. Our technicians are excellent and busy and we honestly don't have time to offer free estimates on smaller service oriented work. We of course offer them for larger projects like a heating system. We simply cannot offer a free estimate over the phone because it is never correct. And we have customer service reps answering our phones and they are not technicians and would not know how to price appropriately. Cleanings and tune-ups we can price over the phone but anything that needs a diagnostic and repair must be seen by a licensed and trained technician to determine the cost. We send our techs out with fully stocked truck, available 24-7 to fix your problem and not waste your time and ours. Gas is honestly too high to allow technicians to drive around and quote small problem repairs. I also wanted to share why we think the Flat-Rate way to price is the best way to do business. Here is a perfect example that explains it well: A novice service technician arrives at one home at the same time that an expert technician arrives at another. They face identical problems. At an hourly rate, the expert technician will identify and resolve the correct problem promptly; thus saving the customer time, money and future problems. The novice technician will take more of the customer's time, use more parts (at the customer's expense), and charge a whole lot more for the effort. This is not fair or ethical, but that's what happens under the hourly rate method. In addition, the incentive for an hourly plumbing company is to have inefficient technicians, and lots of travel and parts pickup time, because that translates to longer hours and more revenue. Also, the customer gets surprised by a big bill at the end of the job with no control over it. Up-front pricing solves these problems and puts the burden of quality and efficient service squarely where it belongs, on us the service provider. Some of the benefits of our No-Risk Up-Front pricing system: • You know and approve the exact price before the work begins. • The cost for the stated work is fixed regardless of how long it takes. • The technician will be more efficient and respectful of your time because "extra-hours" do not mean "extra-money." • The company takes responsibility for having the proper tools, equipment and parts on the job site. • Hourly rates are not comparable, because you can't know how long it will take one company versus another. Flat rate prices are. • Each customer pays the same price for the same service regardless of the technician. This is also very comforting to anyone who feels they may be taken advantage of such as the elderly or people who are not experts at plumbing. When our technician arrives at your home he will do a thorough evaluation of your plumbing system to determine exactly what your problem may be. He will then explain your repair options to you and then tell you the exact repair/installation cost before any work is done. I do hope you'll give us another shot. We were pleased to welcome Donny from Pine State to help us out today. He was pleasant, on time and slipped on a pair of booties right away. After asking if he could address any specific concerns, he set right to work on our gas furnace. On his trips out to his truck, we appreciated his good humor when our small dog tried to boss him around. After he was finished, he brought us down to let us know about what he did, answer our questions and had us take a look at some additional touches he did for us. He noticed that we have our house on the market, so he wrote up a service report and posted it by the furnace for all to see. He also did us a huge favor (myself especially) by labeling all of our shut off valves (for gas and water) This would be incredibly important should we need to rush down and shut things off in a hurry! He even took the time to answer an additional question my husband had about a plumbing issue. He called a plumbing colleague on the spot to make sure we had the best information. Donny's work today along with my phone conversations with the staff at Pine State are the reasons we continually call on them to help us out will all our service needs. Always professional and with a customer first attitude, these folks are the best. Thank you Pine State Services!

Bill Sterling diagnosed clog quickly. Informed me of the flat rate and the possibility that it may not be the only cause of the clog, i.e. a broken pipe could be involved. If so it would be a separate billable issue. The total time to clear the pipe was 20 to 30 minutes. Bill was quick and cleaned up most if not all of any additional mess that came about from his work. He clearly knew is stuff; was professional; balanced with being very friendly. The cost feels high. However, Pine State gave a very accurate estimate for Bill's arrival time. They called to confirm. Bill found our house, it can be tricky, and was on time. I called Pine State at 9 AM and by noon the clog was cleared and Plumber was off to his lunch. Maybe we could have paid less. We would likely have waited longer. We are very satisfied with Bill's work and are happy to have Pine State at the top of the list of contractors we call.
Description of Work: Roto-rutered a clog from our sewer pipe about 50 to 60 feet from the house. Cleaned up any mess created while he did that work.
