 + -1 moreVery professional. One woman did the entire job. She was meticulous. She did not tape, but did not get paint all over the wooden woodwork. Originally we were going to have the woodwork painted white, but decided to keep the wood unpainted. It came out great although it was brighter than I expected (not their fault).

 + -1 moreI have owned this house long enough so this was the fourth time having it stained. It has been the best job and best experience EVER. The preparation was outstanding. In the past painters have power washed the house then painted. This time the house was power washed to clean it and then SCRAPED. This is a large house and every square inch was scraped! I have never had the stained surfaces scraped before and it was amazing how much came off. The stain was applied with a power sprayer and then brushed so every corner was covered properly. The painters checked everything carefully before leaving and did a lot of touching up to make everything look perfect. These are people who showed a real interest in doing their job excellently. The painters were very pleasant and polite and their supervisor checked in with me during the process. The entire experience was truely excellent and I have every confidence this staining is going to last a long time. I highly recommend Clarke Painting Inc.!

 + -1 moreNot only did the work look rushed, but on closer inspection, there are sloppy areas on the trim, paint on door knobs and light fixtures, and even areas where the paint is barely covering the previous paint. I had to call them out to paint a skylight that they forgot to do and was so busy with my move from my previous house that I failed to find many of the spots that were not well done.
Description of Work: Prepped walls and woodwork for new trim and wall paint. Given assurance that the work would be complete before move in date. Once the date approached, Clarke's added very inexperienced painters to finish the work on time. Not only did the work look rushed,

 + 0 moreIt took a few weeks to get all the work done, but the painter worked steadily and quietly, showed up when promised and worked methodically as agreed when the job was discussed. She asked before moving things, but all wall hangings, curtains, furniture and appliances were moved, walls prepped and things put aside neatly at the end of each day. We are very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Stripped wallpaper and prepped walls, painted ceilings, walls in kitchen, living room high ceilings, bedroom and hall. 3 different colors.

 + 0 moreA subcontractor of Clarke Painting, Eric of Priceless Painting, arrived 2 1/2 hours later than he said, due to vehicle problems. He set to work and completed the job in a professional and workman manner. The only difficulties were receiving only 16 hours notice before the job was to start and receiving no communication about the delayed start. The important part is that the job was done well and as described.
Description of Work: Scraped and painted 20 exterior second- and third-floor window frames and soffits.

 + -1 moreIt was a disaster of a job. These men were all over the place. Day one two men came out with only two painters. I knew from past experience that the job would cause for about 4 to 5 painters. You could tell that one of the men were clueless. Everyday there was a different story of why there wasn't enough men to help with painting my home. They really couldn't paint. They then had other men come out and try to fix the work the the first guys had did. This took a whole day for them to try to correct. After all of this my home still needs a lot of corrective painting.
Description of Work: They were supposed to come out to paint. Scott Clark came out many months ago to give a quote. He said it would take 7-10 days to do the job. It ended up taking several weeks. The price also went from $6,000 to a final cost of $13,000.

 + -1 moreOverall, we are happy with this experience. I was called a day prior to their start that the painters would show up and 7:00 am and they were at our house at 7:00 sharp. It took them a while to finish the job because it rained a ton during the project. One thing that was a bit of a turn off was myself and my children heard one of the workers yelling at another worker to "stop staring at me, get off your ***, and help". I thought that was a bit unprofessional, especially because the kids heard that. We were having landscaping done around the same time and the painters made sure to check in with the landscape team so everyone knew what was going on.

I called him a few days later and he indicated the job was more than he wanted to handle and gave me a name to call, Grant Carrier, Coastal Drywall, Inc. That did not work out (subject of initial review), but was not fault of Clarke. I would give him a call if I had painting to be done in the future.

As we were having exterior work done as well as interior there was enough work in good weather and bad. They addressed all our concerns regarding special requests, punch-list items with professional demeanor. If the opportunity arises we would definitely utilize these folks for our needs again.

He was also willing to negotiate the price (slightly) when presented with my options for the work. Clarke did a great job replacing a number of clapboards and the paint job with contrasting trim was very thorough and done on time. They left the yard picked up and neat. I will have to have two sides of my house repainted in 3-4 years and will definitely hire them again for the work.

In all probability they took longer than expected because they did such a good job and were very careful about what they did. They cleaned up very nicely at the end of each day. They were very easy to work with and we are just thrilled we found them.
Description of Work: Tried their services with a small interior job. Liked what they did and asked them to quote us on painting half of the exterior of the house which is 130 years old. They did a fantastic job and we will now use Clarke Painting for any painting work we have (either interior or exterior) and will most likely use them for anything else that they do other than painting.

 + 4 moreTOTAL TRANSPARENT WHILE WE WERE WAY AND BETTER THAN MY WIFE HOPED. THEY ARE MOVERS GETTING IT DONE UNDER BUDGET AND WITH HIGH QUALITY. WE'LL USE THEM EVERY TIME.
Description of Work: WE HAD OUR ENTIRE INTERIOR WALLS REPAINTED, CARPET FLOOR REMOVED AND HARD WOOD PUT DOWN THE FIRST TIME. WE WERE IN FLORIDA WHILE THIS WAS DONE AND THE ENTIRE PROCESS WAS TOTALLY TRANSPARENT. WE CAME BACK TO AN ENTIRELY NEW HOUSE. IT EVEN SMELLED NEW AND HAD A NEW FEEL. THE LARGE CERAMIC FLOORING AND WOOD FLOORS WERE INDEED A HUGE SURPRISE FOR US. WE HAD OUR KITCHEN REMODELED (30K$ TOTAL) AND CLARKE DID ALL THE PAINTING AND FLOORING WORK WE ASKED AHEAD OF TIME AND UNDER THE COST WE EXPECTED. THEY INDEED ARE MOVERS AND SHAKERS WHEN IT COMES TO "GETTING IT DONE" I COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS MYSELF. WE HAD PICTURES OF THE PROGRESS AND I WAS AMAZED HOW FAST AND HOW PROFESSIONAL THE WORK WAS. THE OTHER INTERESTING THING IS THIS SMALL COMPANY IS MULTI-TASKING AND HAS DONE OUR DRIVEWAY AND CLEANED OUR SIDING WHICH DOES GET MOLD GIVEN ITS FACING NORTH. THEY HAVE ALL THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT AND PEOPLE. CLARKE ALSO STAINED OUR DESK AND THAT TOO HAS LASTED LONGER THAN EXPECTED.WE'LL HIRE THEM IN A HEART BEAT. THANKS GUYS FOR A GREAT JOB.

We talked about various options for completing the work as well as when we should complete the job. The job was scheduled for June and took about a week to complete. The crew that worked on my house were very nice. They worked very hard and always left the job site organized at the end of each day. The interior work was completed so fast! They painted both bedrooms in two days, They spackled some holes and did some caulking. Everything looks great and I am very pleased.

 + 0 moreThey did not honor the original quote and when we discussed it with them we were not allowed to speak with the originalowner who had down written up the quote. They adjusted the price by 10 percent after the projedt had started and boards were already taken off the house. Started almost two months later than quoted and the job took muchlonger than expected. In spite of these many problerms they did do a very good job and we are happy with the end results. I would use there sub contractors agan, but not Clarke themselves.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced clapboards on almost one-half of the house and painted the entire house.

I received a detailed, very clear estimate and because this was for a vacation rental home they coordinated with the housekeeper and got the job completed between guests. I have not seen the finished work but the housekeeper as pleased.

I had a problem house with badly peeling paint and I felt very good about their recommendations for how to handle that and the subsequent implementation. The crew members were smart, friendly, efficient and trustworthy. They did a great job at every phase, including thoroughly cleaning up every day. I highly recommend this company.
