Description of Work: Repaired and painted living room ceiling. Mudded and primed it and lots of nail holes and dings on the walls. Painted walls and trim. Some of our trim was really abysmal, but looks very nice now! |As luck would have it, the particular painter who did the job had great Karma with our fear-reactive dog; she hardly barked at him at all! Should we need more painting done in the future, I will certainly be asking for Scott again! |Since we didn't get any other estimates, I can't make a valid comparison. But the cost seemed what I suspected it might be.

Description of Work: Three men were here. They painted a lot of trim, mullioned windows, and doors, and ceilings. Also painted walls and ceilings the front hall, main stairway, and upstairs hall, and also one bedroom. | It went very well, and they finished in three days. |

Description of Work: Ultimately the job was completed satisfactorily. Their was some confusion because the work was done by painters who worked for a subcontractor. When the painters finished, the front steps and deck were not painted. After I called to ask, the painters were sent back to my house to do those two areas. The subcontractor was very professional and apologized for the confusion.

Description of Work: They painted my house and deck and did some light carpentry in the process. They were extremely easy to work with. Very accommodating. I would call them again for any such work. They helped me out with some suggestions for economical fixes for various little carpentry problems that they fixed up. When there was a misunderstanding (failure to communicate) about whether one item had been included in the contract, they did it my way, no arguments. The neighbors complimented them on the neat job they did. I hate to have to give them a B on professionalism instead of an A, but there was one thing that surprised me. One day I came home and found them painting over flaking old paint on my garage door, without ever scraping it first. The old paint was literally falling off in big loose chunks and they were just sloshing the new paint over it. I couldn't believe my eyes. I asked them to please scrape the old paint off first, before painting, and they agreed immediately and did so and did a good job, even though they had already painted a considerable area. Anybody who knows anything would never paint over giant, loose, curling old paint flakes. I still can't figure it out. If it weren't for that incident I would say these guys are beyond reproach. But I would still call on them again because they were nice to work with. I didn't state the price they charged me in this report, because I'm not sure I recall it--this was two years ago. But it was very reasonable. I hesitated to write the review until now because I didn't know what to say about the flaky paint incident.

Description of Work: They cleaned and painted the exterior of my house. They arrived when promised and completed the job on time. Their price was about in the middle of the estimates I got and I have no complaints.

Description of Work: Both Scott (estimate) and Marc (project manager) were a pleasure to work with. They are professional and accomodating- we are using a goverment loan with strict and somewhat over the top requirements, but Clarke was able to meet our needs quickly and from what i can tell (1 month later) delivered a great product. Great local company with great customer service you dont always see these days.

Description of Work: Marc, Kurt and their crew came to install a Bamboo plank floor over plywood in our Master Bedroom.

Description of Work: The crew bleached badly mildewed clapboards on our house and barn; rinsed the buildings; applied two coats of opaque stain to everything; scraped and washed windows.

Description of Work: They painted my house garage and deck. They also put in a handrail on my step.

Description of Work: Clarke Painting prepared and painted the exterior of my 1840 Greek Revival wood clapboard sided home and detached garage. The prep work included hand scraping loose paint, feather sanding edges, and lightly sanding bare wood. An alkyd-based Benjamin Moore primer was used on all bare wood to seal, protect, and provide a "bite" for the finish coat. Then two coats of Benjamin Moore's Moorcraft Super Spec premium latex exterior paint were applied. Additional coats were added in select areas where needed to cover the original paint color. They replaced 8 vinyl decorative shutters with new cedar wood shutters and hardware to match the rest of my home's shutters. My deck and railings were power-washed and sanded, with the deck receiving an opaque colored deck stain and the rest getting a clear-coat sealer. The contractor also performed some minor carpentry work, replaced rotten wood, and fixed broken window panes. I also negotiated 1 pre-priced change order for some additional desired work.

Description of Work: The exterior shingles were washed, sanded, caulked and painted.

Description of Work: Clarke painting offered us a quick estimate. They painted our kitchen, a half bath and bedroom. In the kitchen they repaired a crack in the ceiling. They finished the work in a timely manner and were slightly below their initial estimate.
