They began in the basement where they shored up or replaced the crumbling subfloor structure with hefty pressure-treated lumber. On the first floor, they replaced the dark, awkward staircase with a new one that they designed to meet current building codes. Everywhere their new framing touched the old structure it was sistered up with new studs and bracing. The final result of all their hard work looks strong and feels solid. Even a few off-project fixes they volunteered for (broken cellar door, wobbly basement stairs) were done in a few minutes and improved our home immensely. We are first-time home owners and having their professional expertise and guidance on this project made a huge difference. We've had other people in to do work on our house, but never have we felt like we had a partner we could trust like we did with Karen and Markus.
Description of Work: Karen and Markus turned a dilapidated, hazardous two-story in-law apartment in our house into a modern dream space.
