Asphalt Experts, Joe Sparks, really did a superb job laying down a new asphalt surface on our driveway. The sloping to the street was superb and the edges to the garage level were perfect. The finishing of the driveway edges on either side next to grass were neat. No damage or trouble. Cured quickly. Driving on it was soon and no residual tar on tires. Great job! So Glad I Called Asphalt Expert! In the spring of 2019, Joe Sparks at Asphalt Expert responded quickly to my request for a quote to repave my 275-foot-long driveway. This would include a complete excavation of the old pavement, laying of new foundational material, and new pavement on top of that. During the quote visit, Joe was professional, friendly, very informative, and provided me a quote right on the spot. He even offered up some excellent tips on how to ensure a long-lasting driveway. I got a 2nd quote from another local paving company for the same work. Joeâ s price was by far the best. In fact, there was such a difference in prices between the two that I talked to Joe about it for fear that I was missing an important detail in Joeâ s quote. Joe very professionally helped me understand why that other company probably needed to charge more for this type of job and assured me that there were no hidden fees or surprises I should expect when it came time to pay for his work. We agreed that if he ran into a big unexpected situation once the work got under way, that would be the only thing that would potentially change his priceâ ¦understandably. Joe and his crew did the job the last week of August and my wife and I are very happy customers. Because Joe was paying special attention to some draining problems our property has where the driveway run off goes straight into the garage, he was prepared to recommend a solution once he got the excavation underway and could assess the situation. He presented a perfect drainage solution, was able to show me a sample of the product he recommended and had a contractor quickly available to give me a quote on that piece of the work. They got right to work on the drainage installation so Joe and his team would not be held up in their work. Joe runs a tight shop. You donâ t see guys sitting around watching other guys work. You see everyone hustling and bustling, none of them working as hard as Joe himselfâ ¦on site the whole time keeping things moving. Very impressive indeed. Our driveway is amazing and I know itâ s done right. It has improved our property and its value significantly. When the job was complete, we paid Joe exactly the amount he quoted us. He didnâ t see cause to charge us a penny more. If you need paving work done, my wife and I give our highest recommendation to Joe and Asphalt Expert!

When you get your quote from them make sure it is very explicit on what you are having done. This was my first time dealing with at contractor and the man who gave me the quote said do not worry that he did not write everything down he knows what we agreed on and is present on every job and will not leave until I am satisfied. I had requested a drain due to high water and it was not in the quote so even though we agreed on it I did not get it. Also, they are not good at returning phone calls or text. They say they will show up on one day but do not, and then they fired the man who gave me the quote so needless to say it was a hassle. I will say the front part of the drive way looks great. Then we had a part done beside our garage that even on the day they were laying the tar we discussed that they would leave that platform the way it was with a slight ramp coming down from the tar. Again this is my fault that I paid them that morning because we were going out for the day, and they called last minute to say they would be over. Joe asked that we pay him before we left. I did. When we got home the part beside the garage was a mess. They had to grate what they had originally done for the platform in the front of the garage before they put down the tar. Looks like they just pushed it all over beside the garage and left it. We called and Joe said they would come back in two weeks to check it out. Three weeks later after a few attempts at contacting him, they came back and just packed down the dust and rocks. I do believe on good rain and the rocks will wash away leaving a mess. There is nothing holding the rocks in. They are just loose and a mess. I have given up trying to call him to get it fixed. At this point we will go to the hardware store and see what we can buy to put over it to keep the rocks in place and use our tamp to pack it down. I do also want to say that I am disappointed as this was my first time using HomeAdvisor and I will not use them again.

I highly recommend the Asphalt Expert, who did a fine job of paving my driveway. It was not an easy job, as the space for the driveway is irregular and the margins are quite narrow. As someone inexperienced with paving, I had some thoughts and some worries about the project. Joe listened attentively, gave sound professional advice, and made good judgment calls about the best way to handle a challenging situation. I am very pleased with the result. I already have recommended Asphalt Expert to friends.

I hired this company to do the work unfortunately my roof leaked and needed to take care of that. When I am able i will have Joe do the work. He listened to what problems I was having and made suggestions to fix the issue. He is highly professional and never made me feel like I did not know what I was talking about. Never came off as a slick salesman as some others have.

This is a top notch company! We originally contracted with another company (Michael Herrick & Sons we gave them a small deposit of $300 and when they showed up to do the job they tore up some of the driveway with his tiny bobcat and left with another $300 to pay his guys, after that he blocked all of our telephone numbers) We were pretty upset, until we found Joe! Talk about easing our minds! I called him on a Sunday afternoon (desperate) and he called me Sunday evening - was here on Monday, and gave a quote. Even though he was straight out with work, upon seeing the mess and hazards left on the sidewalk, he rearranged his schedule and was back in two days. He showed up with quality equipment, including a paving machine and amazing crew. He was done by 2pm (which also included doing our neighbors driveway) Everyone who walks by can't believe how beautiful it looks. Calling Joe was one of the best decisions we've ever made, he gave his word and kept it - a rarity these days.

I give Joe Sparks and his crew at Asphalt Expert 5 stars for the job they just did on my driveway. Honesty, professionalism, and integrity are the words I choose to describe their work. Joe is a man of his word. His bid (which was lower than others) and what he proposes to do are as solid as the new driveway he delivers. From the breakup of the old driveway, through the paving, and the cleanup, I could not be more pleased with the quality work that was done.
