I am disapppointed with Wayne’s lack of professionalism and essentially punishing me as a customer for not accepting his bid which was higher than my existing propane supplier (Downeast Energy), who had also installed another unit on my property earlier. I now regret even giving him the opportunity to get additional business from me.
Description of Work: Monitor heater service, leaking external kerosene tank mitigation. Wayne Hall provided service in 2016 when my external kerosene tank had a leak, and did a monitor service. He was responsible and responsive to bring a portable tank to offload the kerosene and prevent an environmental event. He charged $400, which I paid without question. In addition, He also installed an older monitor unit I had in storage, that used portable cans of kerosene, which I believe I paid for separately. Afterwards, The tenant was unhappy having to load and unload kerosene manually, and I made the decision to replace the kerosene heater with a propane system. Because I had liked Wayne’s service, and appreciated him, I asked him if he wanted to bid on the new system. Because it was an expensive equipment installation, I took three bids, and Wayne’s was not the lowest bid for the same equipment. As a courtesy, I informed him he was not the winning bid (my honesty was my mistake apparently), my existing propane supplier was I was not aware Wayne was resentful that he didn’t win the bid. In January 2018, he refused to provide serivce when my tenant’s were without heat. He said I was not a “loyal” customer because I did not accept his higher bid, and stayed with my current provider. I regret being honest and giving him feedback on why his was not the winning bid, as he has apparently held it against me and refused service in a crisis. I consider this unreliable and unprofessional, as it wasn’t until an emergency situation, with record low temperatures, until he made me aware he would no longer provide service. I can not recommend a service provider who is vindictive and resentful of losing a fair bidding process. Apparently, I was supposed to pay more for equipment for the privilege of being his customer? And I was supposed to leave my current provider who had already proven they could do the work and was less expensive? What is unfortunate, is he waited until a weather related crisis to inform me of this, leaving my tenants to suffer and forcing me to find a new provider, and bear additional costs, at a time when all providers are very busy and being without heat could lead to additIonal costs, such as broken pipes. This is a vindictive business practice.
