Dave returned our call within minutes of us leaving a message. He probably heard the distress in my voice! He was highly recommended from our plumber when we told them that our basement drain was backing up with sewage. (Not a nice topic, I know - but I learned so much through this adventure). If you are in the Saco area, you'll be very pleased to know that Dave is more than familiar with the drainage systems in our area as he once worked for the city. He is well known and respected. Dave arrived on Day 1 to suss out the situation with my husband. I was at work and did not want to be around the mess. He spent about 2.5 hours trying to determine the cause of the back up and snaked the pipe from one end of the basement. He made some great recommendations to make this an easier process if this ever happened again (old house) and explained everything in detail. He snaked and did some magic and the drain cleared. Dave warned us that the next phase if needed would be to scope the pipes with his cameras if needed. He figured that he'd back but hopefully he got the culprit with the snake. He offered suggestions and advise for some enhancements to our older pipe system in the basement, too. We needed to keep costs down however possible so figured we'd pass on the cameras, etc. About a week later, the drain started to back up again. Dave was at our home faster than a speeding bullet. This time I was home while my husband was working so I observed the entire operation. When I say and quot;operationand quot;, I do mean and quot;operationand quot; Oh My Gosh. How this one man carried all this heavy equipment up and down the cellar stairs is beyond me. Dave opened up another pipe and the snake hit something that caught his attention. He needed to use the camera. It was like watching a colonoscopy. That is only way to describe what I was viewing on the screen. The camera was so clear and I found it so amazing to go down into the sewer pipes! We followed the trail from our home, all the way to the mains. Fascinating! Well, we found something. A large, yellow metal and quot;fits alland quot; cap was stuck in the pipe. When the former owners of the home had work done, someone obviously messed up and failed to fix their error. Great - now what? Dave pondered how he was going to attack this. He worked so hard using the snake and cameras and tried to pull it out. After about 40 minutes, we figured this wasn't going to work. The process reminded me of an arcade game where you have to grab the stuffed animal with those grabber thingies. This man did not stop! It's winter, it's cold in the basement, he was in a confined space and I can't remember when I last saw someone work so hard. He was a man on a mission and he was not going to let this thing get away! Dave also has a wonderful sense of humor. He's a turd herder! LOL Seriously, he educates you and puts you at ease within minutes. I was worried sick about this but he exuded confidence that I just knew it would be okay. Dave said that if he could not get this, we would have to have an excavator come out and dig up the front lawn to get to the pipe. I was a nervous wreck. All I could see was an empty wallet and a huge mess. Long story short - Dave did it. He got this cap and remedied our problem and saved us thousands of dollars. If you are looking for an honest man, great sense of humor and a work ethic that we should all emulate......you have found the right man.
Description of Work: Our basement sink was beginning to back up with raw sewage. We called a local plumber and he gave us Dave Bastille's phone number. That was a very lucky day for us! Dave had to visit us on two occasions but he saved us thousands ( and I do mean thousands) of dollars when this ordeal was over. Dave managed to find the culprit that was causing our drain to back up into the sink because of his high tech cameras, patience and good ole Yankee work ethics. He never gave up. This man is a wizard! He knows his stuff and I would recommend him to everyone and anyone. DO NOT waste your time with others. Dave doesn't look for a quick fix or bandage. He finds the problem, solves it and makes sure it won't be back to haunt you.
