They were very easy to work with and they will create a 3-D design of what I want; which is great. You can also build one of their ready-made sets on your own. We designed our own unit and they will give tips on things that need to be added as we design. They were professional.

Okay, so this isn't a local company, but it would be a mistake to not consider CedarWorks if you are in the market for a home playset for your kids. The company, which is based in Maine, will help you design a playset that fits your kids and budget, then will deliver a kit with detailed instructions for assembly. While they will help you find a local contractor to assemble the structure, the process is much like putting together a giant erector set, with easy-to-follow instructions and simple steps. Neither my husband nor I are particularly "handy," but we actually had a blast together assembling our set - almost more fun than playing on it (which we also do with our kids). The kids (boys, now 5 and 6) have loved the set since we built it in 2004. The wood is not chemically treated, and really is splinter-free. The set feels rock-solid, and the accessories have kept it fun and challenging for them. The company really does stand behind their product as they claim. We recently had to move our set and several pieces had some moisture damage. CedarWorks quickly replaced the pieces at no charge (either for the product or for shipping), even though I hadn't realized we were still under warranty! All in all, we have had nothing but a great experience with this company and product.
