+ -1 moreWe bought a Maytag washer/dryer pair here and were told the offer came with a $250 rebate from the manufacturer. After paying in full and setting up a delivery date, the salesman called and said oops--he was mistaken, there was no rebate after all. I said I understood that mistakes happen but it was their mistake and they should honor the agreement. But no--not possible, he said. The appliances were already at "rock bottom." I said the price was really not the issue; our agreement included a $250 rebate. Perhaps as a result of their error they would not make much profit on our deal, but at least they would be honorable. But nope. Wouldn't even knock a token $50 off. Their mistake would have to be our $250 loss. Bottom line: sales staff quoting non-existent rebates is either deliberately dishonest or, at best, incompetent.
