Darling Plumbing & Heating

Had an opportunity to talk with the gem of person that picked up the phone and in no way was I going to move forward with utilizing this business. If you can't be professional when taking the initial call from a person looking to do business with you for the first time, it's worth the gamble to see what kind of quality they provide! It was Saturday, 1/14/23 at 327p.

I called 5 different plumbers for my emergency. The first one that called back wanted $188 just to come out and see the problem and couldn't come for 125 minutes. We took our chance and waited to see if anyone else would call back. Darling called 5 minuets later and said they could come within a 1/2 hour and didn't have a minimum charge. I was amazed how quickly the plumber found the leak and replaced the burst pipe. I feel the charge for this emergency work was such a reasonable price for the timely, professional and excellent job completed during this past harsh winter weather. I cannot express how impressed I still am. I am sorry I haven't had a chance to share this experience sooner, but I would not hesitate to call this company for any other plumbing service I need.

i had a rather distressing plumbing/sewer issue on a saturday [of course] and called the first google listing that didn't specifically say "emergency services for existing customers only". the dispatcher let me know someone would call back shortly, and a technician did within about 10 minutes. he had me explain the problem, calmed me down a bit, and basically said he didn't want to charge me the weekend/emergency rate of $130/hr to come out, tell me the same thing i'd described on the phone, and then not be able to do anything about it. apparently you just can't rent a decent jackhammer over the weekend. we scheduled an appointment for first thing monday morning - 7:30 service with a 7am call just to make sure i was there. i was home by 7 monday morning, waited until 7:35, and then called dispatch again. i was told someone would call me back immediately. 7:50 rolled around, and i called another company and canceled service with darling plumbing and heating. the new plumber gave me a call 5 minutes later, and was at my driveway in the next 10 - portland to south portland. to be fair, the dispatcher and the technician i spoke to were friendly and knowledgeable, but not showing up is inexcusable for a service-based business.
