* Everything in this review can be supported with emails from myself and employees and I am happy to share them as long with the photos, this is not a slam piece this is just the facts and I can prove all of it!
To say my experience with Pine Tree Fence was sub par would be the understatement of a life time. From start to finish the company consistently under performed, under delivered and showed how little they care about their customers satisfaction. I originally contacted Pine Tree Fence after reading some good reviews on their company to install a wood fence in my backyard. A date was set and an actual Pine Tree Fence employee showed up to give me a quote, little did I know this was the last I would be seeing of Pine Tree during the project. I was a given a quote of roughly $10,000 which I felt was fair and I promptly made arrangements to get the check for 33% of the total project so supplies could be ordered and was told it would take a couple of weeks. I was in Afghanistan working at the time so after not hearing anything from the company I contacted Rich Bonomo who is a Pine Tree Fence sales representative to inquire as to where we were at with the project, he said the owner of the company Wayde Rankin "should" get to me next week, well big surprise he did not! So again I contacted Rich and let him know I still had not been contacted and was starting to wonder why a couple of weeks was starting to look like a month! Rich emailed me back a few hours later to tell me that the crew would be at my property at 1030am I got the email at 830am, thanks for the two hours notice Pine Tree! When then crew did arrive which was closer to 11am then what I was told it was not Pine Tree Fence, it was Acorn Fence. I had my brother was on the property and naturally was confused as these guy from a company we didn't hire began driving on to our lawn. Well apparently when you hire Pine Tree Fence that doesn't mean you are getting Pine Tree Fence, they sub contracted out the job to another company, would have been nice to know who I was actually hiring to do the work! The gentleman that came to the property did not ooze professionalism and as my brother said "looked like a band of inmates" and before you think that sounds harsh my brother is a corrections officer at a prison. They started work on a Friday and I was told the job would take 3 days. I say again I was TOLD, not that I asked I was TOLD it would only take 3 days.
On Friday Acorn Fence left the job site. On Saturday no one came, on Sunday no one came on Monday no one came. Acorn showed back up on Tuesday, on Wednesday they showed up and only worked until noon! They did find time to take a chunk of my lawn out with their work vehicle though. So much for a three day project! At this point I was incredibly unsatisfied and contacted Rich the sales representative and shocker got no response even though I specifically said I wanted the owner (Wayde Rankin) contact information. Thank God for google I found Wayde's email and voiced all my concerns. From not letting me know about the sub contractors, the "3 day" project going on a week and how Rich barley answered my emails and when he did they were one word responses like you would get from a ****** off high school girlfriend. The response I got back from the owner, damage control basically and made an excuse about how it wasn't really Rich's job but because there was a death in the family he was covering it and then the two whoopers! 1. he told me how great Acorn Fence was and how they were the perfect people for the job! and the best one 2. that my fence was complete! Well not only was my fence still missing a 20ft section the fence posts had not been trimmed to size and all Acorns scrap material and buckets and a tarp were still on my lawn to include the dug parts from their vehicle which had still not been fixed. I immediately sent Wayde the photos of how unfinished my fence was and the trash all over my lawn. He told me it was done because someone else told his it was done, the company he was just raving about how good they were was now making him look more then foolish! Later that day Wayde showed up at my property and got a first hand look at how well Acorn was doing. He spoke with my brother and was apologetic and promised the fence would be done the following day. The next day an actual Pine Tree crew arrived at my house to complete the work but so did Acorn! Wayde didn't even bother to tell them they were off the project, I guess it was our job to let them know they had been fired. When I emailed Wayde to ask what was going on he told "I didn't trust them to complete the job" even though the day before he had all the faith in the world in them. Wayde also ask "why do you care" very professional Wayde! Well I cared because I didn't think it was my job to inform your sub contractors who I at no point agreed to let work on my property that they were off the project, talk about awkward!
Pine Tree did finish the job and inquired and inquired to the owner of Pine Tree about the final balance and if someone was going to fix my yard. All I got from him was the invoice for the total amount and nothing about my yard, I had to fix it myself. Pine Tree sub contracted a job and botched it, it took double the time to complete then I was told, they damaged my land and refused to do anything about it and in the end still felt they deserved 100% reimbursement! So there you have it folks. There are a lot of companies out there they do what Pine Tree and Acorn do so use them wisely I know I wish I hadn't...

They worked all day, with a very brief lunch. We made sure they stayed hydrated! It was really a miserable day for this kind of work and they pushed through.
Our fencing looks fantastic, we couldn't be happier.
We shopped around, and one fencing co. came and did an estimate but we never heard back when we asked a question via email. PIne Tree's estimate was lower than theirs and one other company's as well. (Slightly lower.)
Advice: we've done a lot of work now with tree folks, fencing, landscaping, and we can't stress enough, after you get your estimate and are ready to go, look at ALL the details again in your job, and go over them not once but TWICE with your rep before moving forward. We avoided at least one mistake (on their end) that would have derailed our project for a a few weeks.
You can't be careful enough about the details.
We contacted several fence companies for estimates over the phone and through email. We received three preliminary email quotes from other fence companies.
Pine Tree was the only company that wanted to come an look at the property before quoting. They phoned to make the quote appointment and came on time when scheduled. The quote was ready in about 48 hours.
We chose Pine Tree because it was the lowest quote, and we could have the fence installed within two weeks. We were also pleased that they had seen that the ground conditions would be challenging for installation and included the cost of drilling and supporting the uprights in the quote.
Once we sent the deposit check to Pine Tree we had to call a couple of times to try and schedule the installation. Wayde and Rich were responsive and had an installer out to our house on a Saturday. There was only one installer working on a weekend so the job took 2 days, which was fine with us. The installer had big dogs of his own and was very careful to make sure the fence was close to the ground with no gaps for dogs to escape through. He also made the suggestion to put the mesh on the inside of the yard in case the dogs pushed a lot on the fence.
We are very happy with Pine Tree Fence from start to finish.
Conditions were right to get the work done in July. The final solution was a hybrid of the two under consideration. The guys came to work on time, and worked all day in high heat, but completed the project in one day. They dug out around the base of approximately 20 posts, poured some type of cement product in, then topped it over with dirt. During the project, it was recommended that additional posts were stabilized, so Wade called with the price and asked permission for the additional work to be done. It seemed reasonable, so I agreed.
By the time the workers left, we were ecstatic!!! The straightening and stabilization made a 1000 percent difference in the look! When the high winds came through during Irene, we thought it was a good test. All still standing.
We are pleased with Pine Tree Fence and the work product, and would hire Pine Tree Fence for our next project! Thanks to them for a great first experience.
