FLOOR SYSTEMS

We were told the expensive wood floors were hard and would resist scratches and punctures from non heavy materials falling on the floor. We had so many dents during and after the installation from things like dropping a small screw driver on the floor. The tile broke easily. The accent carpets fell apart less than one year after they had professionally bonded them. Terrible products worth a lot of money. They refused to replace the boards, carpet or tile pieces that broke. The service was horrific. Don't bother going there unless you want to throw your hard-earned money there.

I checked their hours online and drove up on April 4th to check them out from the Portland, ME area. I arrived at 5:04pm and the website said that they were open until 6pm. They were closed when I arrived. I contacted them online and they acknowledged that they had an error on their website and offered to make it up to me by coming to me. I did respond with some additional information and never heard back. I obviously had to go elsewhere for my carpeting and will not be attempting to work with them again.

Floor Systems greatly failed our expectations on quality, delivery and customer service. They offer excuses instead of solutions, cost us extra money and now delayed our bathroom project. I would highly recommend going to Portland where Paul G. White or Capozza carry the same tile companies. Here is the escalating bad service I received. I had seen a tile I liked and decided to call Floor Systems to get their price. I told E. That I was in a hurry and wanted to know if she could give me an estimate and confirm it was in-stock. It was not a huge order but I knew it would be about $1,500. 24 hours go by ? I finally call back and was told Oh, I still have your order written on a bunch of scraps of paper. I said again I was on a timeline. Another 24 hours go by and I decide to go to the store. Nothing had been touched and there where just notes on post its. I worked with D. To ensure in-stocks and she promised to get me a quote. She did and I placed my order. I asked when I placed my order for an emailed receipt, was told yes ? it was not sent. Had the receipt been sent as promised I would have seen that they ordered the wrong tile and the rest of the problems would not have occurred. Order came in 1 week later, I picked up Friday of a long weekend. Upon inspection we saw that the wrong deco pieces were ordered and the tile was not the same color variation as the sample. I had to send the contractor home with pay because could not do tile with out deco pieces. Tuesday I called and explained the problem. They did offer to take the tile back after I told them how disappointed I was ? I even sent pictures of the difference between the tile delivered and the sample. , I said I was not happy about the quality issue but had to live with it because I was on a time line. Here is were this company really shows how bad they are. They refuse to admit they ordered the wrong deco tile pieces (the main crux of the issue) or that there is a difference in color ? saying that is what happens with handmade tile. IT IS NOT HANDMADE TILE. I ask again for a copy of the bill, I am told yes?still do not get it. It takes another 24 hours to get the right deco tiles ordered. I ask again for the bill, finally get it and see that I am charged once for the wrong tile and once for the correct. I call and am told ? you have to pay for the deco, you?ll get a refund when you return the other tile! Talk about adding insult to injury. I'm told it will be overnighted ? it arrives 1 week after the initial order. I have also now told three Floor Systems employees that this delay cost me $350 due to paying workers. I am told the owner will contact me ?never does. Get the deco tiles home there are 5 for the center and one is chipped. I wanted to cry. I call back and they said they will overnight another tile. I repeat I have lost $350 in contractor wages and now am looking at 3 trips to their store at an hour round trip each. I state plainly (again) I feel either they or the vendor should do something about this. They will talk to the vendor. Tuesday ? 3 business days later and nothing ? I call and the tile came in but it didn't look like the others so they ordered another. No communication to me about delay, I have to call them. Of course, I have now told the contractor the tile will be here and it's not. I ask if they contacted the vendor FINE and was told ? well, we sent an email. OMG Friday I get a call the tile is in 3 weeks after the initial order. Of course it doesn't matter now because the timeline is shot. Of course both tiles that came in were different from all four of the other decos? the tiles that came in look like the original sample board ? not like the deco tile I was sent. I get a shoulder shrug and E. Says, ?That?s the nature of the beast when you buy handmade tile.? IT?S NOT HANDMADE TILE. The worst part is their absolute refusal to own what they have cost me. Today again E. denied that they ordered the wrong pieces, it was the vendor?s fault (even though the bill they FINALLY sent had the other tile listed). They just don't care. They don't care that their sales rep keeps focusing on the color difference of the tile from sample (something, although I?m not happy about is just an additional aggravation we chose to live with) They don't care they promised me tile in 1 week and it took 3. They don't care that they cost me money and now delayed my job. They don't care that as the sales point they own my customer experience and they failed miserably.

onIt all went amazingly well. Denise at Floor Systems showed us options and lent us samples. We chose flooring, someone came and measured, they gave us a quote, and Denise ordered the flooring. We lucked out that the distributor they buy from had enough in stock of a discontinued color to do our kitchen. Denise scheduled the installation with Valliere's Installers. They were extremely experienced and professional. Did a perfect job from start to finish. I would recommend paying them to move big appliances back into the room after the install. I highly recommend Floor Systems and Valliere's.

Michael was the sales person we dealt with. He was excellent and honest. He came to the house before and after the work was completed. They did a great job. The people they contracted to install the hardwood are great as well. The people are very helpful.

From the beginning of the process to the final installation, nothing but issues. Initially we had someone come out to the house to measure. No issues there. Then we were quoted $5k for the carpet and installation (to include measuring fees and having the stairs completed as well), minus removal of the old carpet (we did that). Once we finalized the purchase process to place the order they then notified us that due to having a pattern in the carpet they have to specially cut and align the carpet and that would be an extra $600.00. As we voiced our concern over this erroneous fee that was never mentioned before they split the cost and only charged us $300.00 (whoopie!!) We set an installation date to follow our window replacement. We were advised by FS that installation would take 2 days, one day upstairs and the second day downstairs (to allow for us to move furniture). FS contracted with another company for installation. Finally the installation day came (8/14). The company that they contracted stated that they didn't know why they needed 2 days, that they could do it in one (minus the stairs). The installers stated that they would have to send the stair carpet out to have the requested binding applied. They stated that they would contact us when it was ready for installation. We contacted the installers on the 19th regarding the process and were told that the carpet was to go out for binding on the 20th and should be ready for installation by the 23rd. So, 6 days went by (8/29) and nothing. We then called FS to figure out what the hold-up was and was told by Elaine that she would find out and get back to us. Another 6 days went by and....nothing. I called Elaine and she didn't understand what the hold-up was so she told me she would call the installers and tell me what was going on. Shockingly, she called me back within the hour and said they would be there to install at 0730. They arrived as stated. The carpet was bound as requested but upon installation, Maurice (installer), stated that he could not replicate the same placement as to the other carpet. Although previous carpet had no visual placement flaws Maurice stated that similar placement with new carpet would not fight properly and would not look good. Short of having to refabricate stair fittings we opted to installers suggestion. We are not pleased, AT ALL, with the whole process and the final product and would not recommend FS nor Northeast Flooring.

Needed new flooring and carpeting. Read about Floor Systems on Angie's list so I called them up. A person came over and did measuring. Since I don't live too far away from Floor Systems I went over to see what they had. Excellent selection. Since the new floor was going over the old floor the flooring had to have a particular backing and I found a design to my liking. As for the carpets I had a remnant in one room as the room itself is small. I did not use a remnant for the other room. They use an outside contractor for installation who has been doing this for many years. Took him two days to do the installation. First day the carpets were done and the floor was prepped for installation which was done the next day. Overall they were very courtious and professional and will work with you on price, selection and to earn your business

They were able to get in and out fairly quickly which was optimal because they're work then didn't interfere with our regular work flow.

They were quick to send a person out to measure and worked up an estimate in a short time. They were personable and professional. They were willing to deal with the insurance part and work with them to get me what I needed. So far, their estimate is more than the insurance people want to pay, so it is still a work in progress. I hope to be able to go with them for my new flooring, but right now price will determine my next step.

It is easy to do business with Floor Systems. They send one of their experts out to measure the area. They provide samples appropriate for the area. They have professional installers who are outstanding. The results are spectacular. The flooring and carpeting look great! Thank you Floor Systems!
