I am a chemist by profession,
a maintenance and bicycle mechanic by trade,
and a handy-man by choice.
There is nothing I enjoy more than fixing something or making something look good again. That I can do this for someone I have just met or have known for many years would be reward enough, but I do have to make a living so I charge what I think is a fair price for my services. I enjoy working with my customers and making them happy is the basic goal of all my work.
I have two years technical training as a maintenance mechanic, three years experience repairing bicycles, fifteen years experience maintaining and repairing chemical instruments, and twenty years experience doing all my own home maintenance including major bathroom and kitchen remodeling. I have also been repairing and restoring antique furniture for twenty-five years.
I am a company of one, and do all my own work.
I have a reliable pickup truck with cap which I keep supplied with very large assortment of tools and hardware for every job. At home I keep a wide array of hardware, paints, spare parts and widgets along side a shop full of tools for rough and fine carpentry, mechanical, plumbing and electrical repairs, and even welding.
My standard rate is $25/hour
A job is usually billed as time and materials.
Local (Harpswell area) estimates are always free.
For large projects a work contract can be written.
Material purchase and pickup is usually chargeable time.
My guarantee is that if something fails or breaks or does not perform because of my neglect or mistake, I will make right whatever the problem at no cost. If there is a problem with a product or unforeseen but pre-existing problems I will do my best to work with you to resolve the problem in a fair and equitable manner. In all my activities I will strive to work with you to create and maintain a fair exchange of service and payment.
