Description of Work: Whole house cleaning...the house had been vacant for five years. Floors, walls, ceilings cleaned and wiped down. Mildew removal on ceiling. Bathrooms cleaned, kitchen cleaned including appliances. Carpets removed in five rooms, stairs, and hallway, and disposed of. Basement concrete floor swept and mopped clean. They were 50% more expensive than a well known competitive company. But I felt their knowledge and description of their services was going to be worth it, and it was.

Jared came to my house to do an estimate on July 31, and said he would have an estimate to me in a couple days. He said that the earliest they could start the job was Monday of the following week. I didn't get an estimate by Monday, so I called their office and told them I was still waiting on the estimate. They said they'd let Jared know and he'd get it to me asap. A few days went by and I still hadn't gotten an estimate, so I called the office again. Same conversation. I called one more time, and after 2 weeks accepted the estimate of another company. They never did call back.

I thought there was no way I could speak positively of such a mess, but I don't think it could have gone better. The entire crew was professional, courteous, respectful and punctual. Every morning I got a review of the plans for the day (since I am retired from the military, this made me feel right at home!). The first two days, I was directly involved, examining things brought out of the basement. Things were either determined to be beyond help, totally free of mold due to its packaging or with small amounts of mold which could be treated or dry cleaned, as appropriate. Depending on the day, I had one to four workers, including Dave, Cliff, Oliver, and Jim (I'm sorry, I don't remember all of your names). Hurricane Irene hit on the weekend, and dozens of other flooded, damaged and water damaged buildings needed attention emergently. Because of this, I had one day when only one worker came, but overall I felt my needs received adequate attention. The work was finished on the day projected before the storm. All of the workers were pleasant and easy to talk to. When some military gear appeared, a couple of the guys asked about it, and it turned out their parents or they had military experience. The days were unfortunately unusually hot and humid, but this did not appear to slow the work at all (the nurse in me made sure everybody was drinking plenty of water). The job was finished on the expected day (a total of 6 days). I didn't recognize my basement when they were finished. I had received a forecast that all I would find when they were finished would be a dead furnace, an oil tank, four walls, a ceiling and a floor, and that was what I found. And it smelled so much better! The final bill was as estimated. I have already told friend and family that I hope nothing like this ever happens, but if it does - call ServPro!
Description of Work: A flood occurred in my basement when my furnace broke down. At some point during the demise of the furnace, a crack formed and this caused the flood. I happened to be at the lake for two weeks when this occurred. When I returned, I found 1 to 2 inches standing water in the basement and mold everywhere and on everything. I have asthma, so I had to strictly limit my time downstairs, and even then I had to wear a mask. I needed to have the water removed, the basement dried out and totally cleaned. A previous owner had apparently considered finishing off the basement; framing and studs were throughout the basement, some of which had evident water damage to the bottoms when I moved in 7 1/2 years ago. The previous damage was now extensive, so the decision was made to remove all of the studs and framing. After the clean up, I could then address the issue of the non-functioning furnace.
