We contracted with Heather Jackson of Jackson Built Homes to build our retirement home. A 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home including an in-law apartment, two car garage and screened in porch. We learned of Heather through a friend who had also had Jackson Built homes build there home and had been very happy. The company is known for their "green" approach to building. This was an important aspect for us. We have been very pleased with the workmanship, quality and timeliness of this house. During this whole project Heather has been a godsend. Guiding us through the numerous choices you need to make when building a home and making what can be a very stressful experience fun. We found her to be organized, very approachable and available to answer questions and concerns promptly. She responded to phone calls and/or emails very quickly. Her team of builders, plumber, electrician, painters, floor and tile team etc were all professional, friendly and willing to meet with us and answer questions while also helping us in all areas of implementation. Heather is also very creative (which was also part of our decision to use her) helping us create the house we wanted while keeping us grounded and realistic in what we could afford. What we got is an amazing highly insulated home with custom cabinets, custom built in hutch, hard wood floors, and unbelievable master bathroom etc. We would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Worked with us on a house design, and built the house from the ground up.

Initially things were going well. However, as the project neared completion, things really became estranged. Heather became outright hostile to us at our desire to have the painters do a much better job. Hindsight on the project is that she was run by her subs rather than the other way around. The job also took much longer than anticipated. It started Nov 2009 with an estimated finish of June 2010 (August 2010 was our desired move in date). On Oct. 6 , 2010, Heather declared the job complete, locked us out and left for her third vacation since the start of this project. She never did an actual walk-thru with us and just demanded the final funds be released. We have had multiple warranty claims, the largest of which (roof leak and chimney problems) she is trying to only gloss over instead of fix properly. She even refused to provide a copy of the report from the company that evaluated the problem. We tried to get her into binding arbitration at the beginning of November. She stalled and has since filed a lien and sued us. Once the suit is over, I will be able to elaborate. Stay away from this contractor, not worth the hassle. (Cost left out for privacy concerns).
Description of Work: New home construction. 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath
