DAVE'S CONSTRUCTION & REPAIR

Description of Work: I have an older (1920's) house with a stand-alone single car garage that hadn't been touched since the early 1950's. Needless to say, it was more of a dilapidated shack than a garage by the time I took ownership of it. Quite simply, Dave brought it back to life. The work was quite extensive and took about two months last summer (2011). The bullet point list below is a chronological order (to the best of my memory) of the work that he performed: · He removed the rear bump-out that had been scabbed on in the 1950’s. · He replaced ¾ of the sill that had rotted out. · He then straightened the structure (it was off by 8 inches at the roof peak) and re-nailed all the wood. · He removed most of the front of the garage and re-framed it to accept a modern-day electric garage door. · He replaced the rear bump-out that he demolished and made the garage one continuous structure with the same roof line. Basically giving it a modern-day appearance while keeping the same footprint. · He added a rear man-door. · He replaced the single-pane windows with new double pane units. · He strengthened the structure by adding lateral hurricane bracing, 12” x 12” steel L-brackets on the front door frame, and adding cross-members on the roof framing (completing the “A” of the A-Frame). · He re-sided the garage with white vinyl to match the house. · He hired concrete contractor to pour a new pad for the garage. · He hired an electrical contractor to bring power wiring from the house’s main breaker panel and installed a new sub-panel in the garage. The electrician also installed new lighting and outlets in the garage. · He hired an asphalt contractor to remove and replace about 4 feet of hot top around the garage so that water would drain properly out of the garage. · He painted the inside of the garage a light beige color to better reflect the light from the new fixtures. · He hired a garage door company to install a new, insulated garage door with an electronic opener. · And lastly he installed new shelving in the garage. Basically Dave did all of the wood-working himself and acted like a general contractor over the other trades. He handled all of the permits and provided me with a great turn-key, design-build project. I liked the work that he did on my garage so much that I had him replace my house’s front door and rip-up and replace the tile and sub-flooring in my mud room. My neighbors across the street were also impressed with his work and hired him to replace their two wooden entry-ways (stairs with elevated landings).

Description of Work: Dave tore down three porches on my apartment building and installed new porches. Then he installed and repaired three small roofs overhanging the front steps and side windows.

Description of Work: Dave repaired 2 doors in our house.

Description of Work: They did a little work on my deck before I installed a hot tub. They made sure the existing structure could hold the hot tub.

Description of Work: I purchased a summer house in Yarmouth. I needed someone to help with the complete renovation. David was able to work with me in gutting the house and help in redesigning the outdated layout. We needed to reset the stairs and he was able to easily figure out the best way to do it and the cheapest! He also redid all the floors and rebuilt the bathroom to include plumbing. He helped and guided me through the wiring. David installed our Ikea cabinets and built a ceramic countertop on the cheap. He was always looking for ways to save us money. David painted the walls and set all the doors. Exterior work included rebuilding the porch and also building a shed.
