Description of Work: Dead River provides my fuel and is always on time--no problems. The problem affecting my ratings was my request to the office in July 2013 for a visit and estimate for them to replace an aging furnace. They never responded to this request at all and I gave the job to someone else.

Description of Work: I had them do the annual tune up on my forced hot air oil furnace and signed up for a service contract. The technician showed up on time, did a superb job and was not only professional but friendly. I also signed up for automatic fuel delivery and they gave me a $100 credit for doing so. I've only recieved one delivery so far (being so early in the season) but no complaints in that regard as of yet. I will probably use them again next year but I couldn't give them a grade of "A" due to their office staff messing up my order at first. I called to set up a service contract and oil delivery and they told me someone from the service department would contact me to set up a date for the tune-up/cleaning visit. I had to call them back a second time a week+ later because they never called. When I did, they told me they had no record of me requesting service. Could have been a simple mistake (we all make them) but it's worth mentioning.

Description of Work: We haven't used thier services in the last 6 months because we haven't needed the heat, but we will call them very soon. They are prompt, they come to our area every Wednesday, We can get heating oil on Wednesday as long as they know by Tuesday.

Description of Work: We bought a house and had them over to do annual maintenance, oil tank inspection, propane tank installation, etc. The tech was very knowledgeable, professional and answered all my questions as I have never lived with oil heat/hot water and propane.

Description of Work: They serviced our furnace, delivered our oil, and installed a propane system for our generator.

Description of Work: I had the Gas hot water tank fixed by their repairmen 3 times in less than 2 days with a charge each time. I was THREATENED they would not deliver me any oil for my furnace if I did not pay them to put a whistle in my tank. I hired a plumber and after taking the tank apart found the whistle was in the tank and working. They then threatened not to deliver oil until I bought a new tank from them. I bought tank and fittings from Home Depot and had it set up ready for a line. The men from Dead River showed up a little after 8am and finished a little after 10am. They charged me for 8 hours work for two men and my old tank was fine. They told me I needed a new furnace and I hired a new oil company and a different company to clean my furnace. I paid Dead River to clean it every Nov. This new serviceman said my furnace oil filter had not been changed in years and the electrical wire on the furnace had been replaced with a piece of wire too short to connect and keep my furnace running. If I had not changed companies I would have had the expense of changing my furnace when I did not need one. (Like the whistle and the tank.) I notified the Better Business Bureau and the president of Dead River denied having a service department and that all service is sub-contracted out. Anyone who lives in Maine who has dealt with Dead River Co. knows this man is a liar. Dead River Co. has a service dept. and they rip off the customers they serve. Check out anything with a second company before throwing your money away.
