Description of Work: Just signed up with Downeast as my LP gas provider. They have been slow to engage with me over a request for a service contract. They did send out an inspector of all gas systems who was a top notch professional.

Description of Work: This was a large job, replacing a factory HVAC system with new VRF system. Met with them and described work to be accomplished. After initial enthusiasm, they declined to bid on the job.

Description of Work: Downeast Energy did two jobs. One was to install a new propane water heater and the other was to link a new propane generator to the propane system in the house. Both were done well and professionally. Indeed, it was Downeast which insisted to the generator installer that the generator had to be moved further away from the house to meet regulations, even though the installer had already installed it.

They arrived on time and were polite and professional. I like to discuss what I think needs to be done and what they think might be wrong, in need of improvement or repair, and so on, and they are always happy to talk to me. They're also very careful to keep things neat. However, I recently hired another heating consultant to evaluate my system, and he found a few things wrong that Downeast never mentioned. This includes a part that (new guy says) is specified by the manufacturer to be replaced every two years. One of Downeast's guys said, basically, "Well, they fail, and they really can't be fixed, so you'll have to live with it". They also overlooked a piece of chamber lining that had fallen off and was causing soot to fall on the floor. So I am becoming skeptical of their technical expertise, at least on my type of system (old steam boiler).
Description of Work: Performed an annual tuneup & inspection of my burner & boiler. Also, they have done various repairs on the system over the last 10 years, including replacing the burner & wiring and replacing the domestic hot-water heating coil.

Very well. Worker showed up on time. Company called day before to confirm appointment. Worker was in and out of the house frequently, wiped his shoes each time, and apologized for tracking any dirt in. Reported to me exactly what he was doing to furnace, problems that he found, and his recommendations for keeping the furnace running as well and long as possible.

Long wait for services. Still have not been able to get a furnace inspection, and I've been trying to for six months. Had one appointment (three months out) and missed it due to a death in the family. Also, oil prices quite high relative to smaller companies.
Description of Work: Installation of gas line/tank (for generator) and a winter's worth of oil delivery.

I called Downeast for an estimate. I called just after normal business hours and left a message with their after-hours service person. Unfortunately, I did not get a call back. :(

They are a member of the Better Business Bureau and I know that their company does a background check and a chemical and drug test before hiring any of their employees. I really like that. They have always been very professional and have shown up on time.
Description of Work: They installed two heaters in my 1800 square foot home.
