SUPERIOR SIDING & REMODELING

The company (James Scovil of Superior Siding and Remodeling) provided an estimate for kitchen remodeling in our home. He took a deposit of almost $2,000 from us, signed a contract, and then promised to return. He then scheduled appointments three times for when he would be showing up, but then never did. He always had some excuse, after the fact, about why they did not show up. After 6 weeks of this, we finally got a note from him saying, that because "we were inconvenient to schedule with" and because he was busy, he was declining the job. But, he also decided to keep our deposit which he had already had for 6 weeks. After several weeks of trying to contact him, and then calls to the local Police, the Better Business Bureau, and the State Attorney Generals office, the Police finally had to visit him at home to discuss criminal proceedings. We received a check at that point (3 months later), from him for all but $200 of our deposit. He decided to keep $200 "for services rendered". The Better Business Bureau believes that he knew exactly how much to hold back so that he did not risk criminal proceedings so the Police could not go after him. He also apparently knew the amount that small claims court filing would cost. So, the amount he retained was just above that level.
