This is the same person that wrote the other negative review(see my response there). I guess he really doesn't like us although in this review he did say he would hire us again, not that we would ever work for him.

We are working on a deadline. We scheduled a family reunion soon. If the bath makes it, House Revivers will be House Heroes; if not, one must ask oneself, why did you do this?
Description of Work: Revived our new historic home.--took out tile ceiling and z-brick, moved walls, replaced walls and added downstairs bath . . and at our old historic home-- He did lots more -- including rehabbing the original windows--cheaper than new ones and more effective as Fine Homebuilding promised. His taste and vision are impeccable. Both times, He has for us worked within his estimate--which was very reasonable considering the alternatives--and he tactfully has helped us to be reasonable too. Each member of his crew [with whom we have had a lot of contact lately] is an artisan in his own right. Of course, the new historic house job's not finished but it's worth saying that in the middle of the dust and confusion, we look forward to the crew arriving and they never come late. And You asked.

we are going to court over it
Description of Work: I hired Bob Kelly to renovate a house that I purchased after closing. The scope of the work estimate that was to be completed, Bob estimated $97K. We began at once, and things started out fine until we came to the issue of more than the scope of work estimate stated. He and I agreed that there was more work than originally estimated and I told him that we can move forward, but we needed a concrete price. He told me at first to complete the job, it was looking like $110-120K. He handed me an invoice and it said $121K and I told him "are we finished" and he told me "no, it is probably going to be more like $140k to $150K". I told him, " If you can't get this done for $150k, then get off the job and I will find someone to do it for that amount" He told me "No, no I will figure it out and make it happen". Then months later right before completion, he came back to me looking for more money. He told me where he was at right now was $176k and I told him to get off the job. He stayed though, and I thought he was doing the right thing by honoring his agreement of $150k. Then a month later he came to me and asked to talk about more money. I asked how much and he said it was looking like another $100K but he would settle for $30k so he could pay his subs. I told him that we had an agreement originally of $97k, then it went to $150K (more than I thought it would ever be) and then a final payment of $176k after I said get off the job. Over the course of the job, his workers did very poor and careless work. Not only that, but they were not moving with a purpose. I mention to him several times that they needed to pick the pace up, but he assured me that they were doing the best they could. I had hired my own subs, some being in their own trade for more than 20 years and they all told me he made their job 150% more difficult than any other contractor they had worked with before. That in turn double my price for the jobs they needed to complete.

Response from HOUSE REVIVERS
I have been in the remodeling business for over 30 years and [Member Name Removed] was the most difficult, unreasonable person I have ever worked for. This work was in a house that [Member Name Removed] had bought on a short sale to flip but because we had no plans or specs to work from I made it clear that it was a Time & Materials job and my estimates were budget estimates only. All of my billing was T&M billing so he could keep track of the costs as we went along.I trusted [Member Name Removed] as we had worked together before but I made a serious error in not having him sign a contract. He constantly added to the scope of the work, replacing a kitchen that was only a few years old, finishing off an unfinished third floor, adding a very expensive tiled bathroom/master bedroom suite, building a new two car two story carriage house garage, and completely rebuilding a large porch on two sides of the building. In addition he had us repaint rooms that were done when he didn't like the first color he had picked and redo areas that were finished because he wanted a different style. Including this job we had done a number of other jobs for this customer and he always praised the quality of our work. In fact the only complaints I heard about this job was that the cost was too high and we weren't working fast enough. After the job was finished he refused to pay the final bill so I was forced to put a lien on the property(as did several subcontractors) and start legal proceedings. Even during these legal proceedings I heard no complaints about the quality of the work only the costs. It was after I started legal proceedings that this review was written and I think it was motivated by our lawsuit more than dissatisfaction over the work. I am pleased that [Member Name Removed] will not hire us again as I would never do any work for him again. This is one area we certainly agree on.

They were excellent, friendly, and always on time. The job was done beautifully. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We live in an old home and they built a new wood shed for us as well reconfigured the enterior hallway that led to access to the woodshed. It blended with the rest of the house.
