COMPUTER ESSENTIALS

Description of Work: I bought 2 used dell lap tops from computer essentials in Ellsworth Maine. They were very nice to me, and explained to me that it was better to buy a used dell office computer, that had been reconditioned then to purchase a new one from Walmart because it was a much better product. I bought 2 used Dell office computers from computer essentials in 2012. One for me and one for my daughter. Mine worked well for about a year and they the computer wouldn't work, I took it in and paid priority service to fine the problem. They told me that the mother board was gone and he proceeded to take me over to the used computers and told me it was cheaper to buy another used lap top then to fix mine. I told him no I would buy my next one from WaLMART If I had bought one there it would have still been under warranty. The one that I bought for my daughter, broke down with in the first 30 days, it was the mother board and they put a used mother board in and didn't charge her. With in 10 months her computer broke down and it again was the mother board and it would cost too much to fix. My daughter took hers to someone one else who fixed the problem for her for 40.00 dollars and they told her it was a program that had been installed improperly. When she told me I took my computer to the Geek Squad in Bangor, sure enough it cost me 50.00 and I got my computer back. I did call computer essentials and they said they could not be responsible for mistakes that they made. I just think it is important for people to know my experience so that whether it be lack of knowledge or to increase sales it is wrong. If this has happened to you have your computer rechecked by the someone else.

Description of Work: Computer repair of a PC which would not boot.

Description of Work: My laptop powered off and it could not be turned back on. I use it for work and it contains many files and programs that must be used in my work. I took the computer to Computer Essentials and asked for priority service and that is exactly what I was provided. I was contacted on 12/16 at about 6Pm and told that it had been worked on but that it was still experiencing problems, and it would be worked on the next day, Saturday, and hopefully it could be repaired without needing a new motherboard. This is the first time that I have ever received an update on repair progress from a computer repair company. I received a call a 630PM on Saturday 12/17 that the unit had been repaired- the loose connections had been soldered and it had been cleaned and was ready for pickup. This is assuredly a much better solution than the big box store sending it out for repairs for two weeks or more.
